One thing is for certain: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is bringing big changes to the classic universe. One key indicator of this is the talented actor William Fichtner being cast as Shredder, whose real name in the film is Eric Sachs. One website, The Hollywood News, was able to chat with the actor and picked his brain about the movie. Apparently, this is going to be the "darkest version of the character."
“What I read about Eric Sachs in the script was great, and then how the character has been molded and changed when we started filming has become something really quite remarkable in terms of what we’ve seen before of the character.”
According to the site, Fichtner was "overflowing with enthusiasm about the project" and even confirmed that the classic characters, Bebop and Rocksteady, will not be in the flick. Lastly, he remarked on how the Turtles will look in the movie and he implied they'll impress. "They are some messed up mutant turtles!"
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens August 8th, 2014.
Oh, and one final note: if you're part of the crowd who isn't happy with the direction the film is taking, we strongly recommend checking out the comics IDW are publishing and even the Nick cartoon is plenty of fun. Basically, it's a great time to be a TMNT fan.

UPDATE
Fichtner provided a lot more information during an interview with Flicks and the City. First and foremost, it's clear this franchise is looking to expand because Fichtner admits he signed a 3 movie deal. Additionally, he addresses whether Shredder will wear armor.
"Shredder dons himself with armor, and that's who he is and that happens in this story. It's the backstory on how it all began with the turtles, that the character of Eric Sachs....It's not by chance that he knows the Turtles."
He also chimed in on how to team will look in the film.
"It always had sort of a bouncy cartoon feel to me, which is great, that's why it was appealing. That's not this movie...It's not like any Mutant NInja Turtles thing you've ever seen before. It's freaky, they're cool, and they're mutants and they look awesome. It's tough and it's going to be really, really great."
