Will You Watch AMC's Walking Dead?

This is one zombie show I might actually watch!

The thing about comic books is that there is a comic out there in every genre imaginable for absolutely everyone, no matter how young or how old. The catch is that you have to simply be open to wanting to read them. Having said that, I was surprised that I enjoyed the first volume of Walking Dead as much as I did when Tony and I reviewed it for our Trading Views segment. If you missed the review, you can watch it here

I admit, I have never really been too keen on the horror genre and I never really cared much for zombies, yet there is something about The Walking Dead that did intrigue me; so much so that I am really looking forward to the AMC television show. After seeing some of the images from the set of the AMC TV adaptation, I admit I was really shocked at how incredible the zombies looked. However, it isn't only the accuracy of the zombies that have me psyched, but also the way actor Andrew Lincoln looks dressed up as Rick Grimes. He looks just like Tony Moore's artistic interpretation of the character. The series seems so promising that writer Robert Kirkman himself has branded it with his stamp of approval.

"Writing this book for the past seven years I've gotten very close to the character of Rick. Andrew Lincoln embodies every aspect of the character that fans know and love. After seeing this photo I don't think that there will be a doubt in anyone's mind that he's perfect for the role."

I personally always feel a lot better when a film or television adaptation of a comic book receives the stamp of approval from the creator. The series, whose first season will consist of six episodes is being directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile).

It also helps that Frank is a zombie nut who first discovered The Walking Dead several years ago whilst browsing in his local comic shop, which he discussed in a recent interview:

"I walked into a comic book shop some years ago and saw it. Since I happen to be a zombie nut, I took it home, I read it, and I said "Oh my God, there's a great series in this." And I've been the horse pursuing that particular carrot for five years now, delighted to finally be on the set."

Darabont's passion for both the genre and the series seem genuine, which are two very important factors when you are adapting a comic book series to the small screen. It is also part of the reason why I; an individual who isn't crazy about zombies; am really looking forward to the series. You have seen the images of the scary zombies, and the incredible accuracy of Rick Grimes' costume, but what do you think? Is The Walking Dead a show you are looking forward to seeing?
