Will We See Nightcrawler And Storm In 'Days Of Future Past' Movie?

Director Bryan Singer hints at whether or not we may see these two characters in the upcoming sequel to 'X-Men: First Class.'

There has been plenty of talk about the familiar faces we will see return to the upcoming X-Men: First Class sequel X-Men: Days Of Future Past. We already know that actor Hugh Jackman will return to reprise the role of Wolverine, but that's not all. The upcoming film already has a massive, star-studded cast. Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Ian McKellan, and Patrick Stewart among others are likely to appear in Days, but there are some popular characters who we may mot see make it to the big screen. Among them are actor Alan Cumming who played Nightcrawler in X2 and Halle Berry who played Storm in X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand. So will these two very popular X-Men characters return for X-Men: Days Of Future Past?

The film's director Bryan Singer has been tweeting and teasing the return of many of these actors to their respective roles and has been vocal in regards to his excitement to be working on this film, but he hasn't really divulged any information in regards to whether or not these actors will reprise their respective roles in Days. When asked whether Berry would return as Storm, the director stated that he enjoyed working with her, but that things were still up in the air.

I can't say. I don't know yet. And it's not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it'll make sense. But I love working with her.

It seems though that the reason Singer doesn't know yet is because he is still working out the kinks of his script. In yet another interview with The Huffington Post, the director hinted that he wasn't sure of the direction he would be taking the film and therefore "doesn't know yet" if Nightcrawler would need to be involved.

== TEASER ==
You know ... we'll see…Yeah, I know. I don't want to ... sometimes you don't want to say 'yes' or 'no' to something that may not be a 'yes' or a 'no,' or anything. I haven't decided yet, a few things. I'm still, you know — there are certain aspects of the script that I'm still toying with.

It sounds like things are early enough in production that we may yet see Storm and Nightcrawler in the movie, but what do you think? The cast is already pretty big, so should these two characters return to reprise their roles? Do you think we would need Nightcrawler and Storm in a X-Men: Days Of Future Past movie, why or why not?

I think this film may collapse with the overload of actors/characters already.

@Mucklefluga: It's the x-men, there's always going to be alot of characters

I say bring on Nightcrawler, but not Storm. I like her but i don't think it's necessary for this movie

Posted by queenfrost_

@Mucklefluga: It won't be an X3. Most of these announced roles will probably be very minimal parts, perhaps a 10 minute scene or something.

@Babs: It would actually be nice to see people in the the movie who are actually in the storyline for a change, unlike the first Three Xmen movies. Rogue is an okay character but she should have been introduced in the X movies later, not as a focal point to begin with. I thought it was absurd to introduce the characteras part of this movie , when she once again wasn't in the actual storyline. I'm sorry but Marvel/Disney needs to buy the rights to FFand the Xmen back from Fox. Speaking of which I was never a fan of that Fox network Xmen show either, it did the same thing with storylines. I wanna see Kitty Pryde doing her thing like she's supposed to be doing.I wanna see Colossus smashing, NightCrawler vanishing, and Storm frying the enemy with electricity. Honestly I want a reboot non Fox related called Uncanny Xmen. Sorry for the rant.

One way to make me buy a ticket for this movie: bring back Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler.

Posted by kid Apollo

so basically he didnt answer yes or no for either...

glad i read this post

Posted by OneyedJacks

I think they are not necessary in this movie! Sorry but this sequel risk to being confuse or too plenty (as the last stand)... if they use so much characters! ...No please, I wish Ororo and Kurt are not into this movie, maybe in the next one! ;)

It would be nice to see Alan Cumming do something else than introduce Masterpiece Theater.......

THATS A LIE....THAT IS MUTHA EFFIN A LIE!!! Bryan singer has something against storm and or Halle and we all know it , but all i have to say if Storms not in it i bets not see cyclops in there either...

i hope this film washes the crap that was x-3 and wolverine origins out of my mouth lol. i hope Anna Paquin can now play the kickass Rogue from the 90s cartoon and 80s 90s comics.

Posted by nappystr8

I think Storm is a very important part of the original film franchise, without her involved, the crossover between the two time periods will not feel as authentic. Plus, it's not like Halle Berry is really up to anything these days. They could probably get her signed on for cheaper than they did 10 years ago.

As for Nightcrawler, since he was only in X2, it might be difficult to find a place for him in a film that is already so crowded, but it certainly would be one sweet icing on the cake.

I hope so, i really hope they can pull this off, i hated X3.

But now there are more new characters and future and past versions of the characters too. Risky.

Storm and Nightcrawler would be nice as cameos.

Posted by Bestostero

Storm yes, Nightcrawler no. I don't want the cast to be too big where they're not gonna feature everyone in a good enough way that will satisfy everyone.

Posted by CTG

If nothing else, I'm glad he isn't throwing characters in just for marketing. If he can work either or both into the movie and have it make sense, then I'd love to see them. This is just common sense movie production. It'd be so easy for him go berserk and throw in as many characters as FOX can afford, but he's avoiding that and due to that my confidence in this film just went up a bit more.

I'll say yes to both of them coming back for the next movie. Make it happen, Singer. Make it happen!

Posted by cosmicwolf13

recast storm as gina torres!

Posted by FatFriar_16

It would be really cool to foreshadow Nightcrawler somehow... (Son of Azazel?)...

Posted by CTG

@cosmicwolf13: Uh, no thanks. I don't want Storm recast, but if it had to happen for whatever reason, Zoe Saldana is the obvious choice.

Yes,I would want that too.

@Bestostero: Ororo has stern features, Gina's are more soft - she looks more like a Wonder Woman if anything

how about taylor kitsch as gambit

WE BETTER!!! Love dem two characters

Posted by JamDamage

Halle is just hot as hell and no problem with her in it, but who, as an X-Men fan does not want Night Crawler in the movie. Shit, he's in the story.

Posted by NICKXH

It would be interesting to see Nigtcrawler as he is son of Azazel. Storm not so much. I've never thought Halle Berry was a good actress.

Posted by OneyedJacks

My question is: what about Banshee and Havok?? Why they are not mentioned for the sequel?? I want them!! I need to know what happen to 'em!

And I thought I was only one who liked him as Gambit lol

@velvetmeds: How is Nightcrawler required but Storm isn't?

Posted by Chibi-Iroh

@CTG: If Zoe Saldana played Storm she would have to gain weight because Storm isn't as stick thin as she has been portrayed. If anyone should be offered the role of Storm if she is recast it should be Angela Bassett. I think her attitude has changed about these types of movies and I think she would be willing to do it.

Posted by SUNMAN

Storm won't be in the film. Bryan Singer never got Storm. Halle is responsible for all the positive things we got out of storm in the X-movies. Making her powers more versatile, changing up the hair, getting more lines etc.

And it doesn't seem like Nightcrawler would work with the script Singer doesn't strike me as someone to force stuff in for the fans

Posted by White Mage

Not having Storm in the movie would make 0 sense, since they are jumping back and forth apparently........

Posted by RedheadedAtrocitus

It would be nice to see the two of them in this movie, sure.

The people who give out Oscars might disagree with that comment.

We better see Nightcrawler

Posted by Gambit1024

I know that the guy who played Nightcrawler expressed interest, but I haven't heard anything from Halle Berry. I just assumed that she was already in.

And I don't think we need to worry about the amount of characters in this movie. Firstly, from what I understand, the older X-Men characters will be mostly cameos (with the exception of Kitty Pryde and possibly Wolverine). Second, half the reason why X3 was what it was was because Brett Ratner is terrible at his job. Singer's a decent director, and his first two X-Men movies were pretty solid (the sequel especially). His only bad movie (that I can recall) was Superman Returns, and that wasn't even really his fault. That was a writing issue more than anything.

I'm optimistic about this movie.

You'll see those three random mutants that where supposed to be Boom Boom and Spike,

Posted by HexThis

Famke Janssen did an interview about X3 and though she didn't name names, she claimed that X3's plot was heavily affected by certain people wanting to be featured more than others as well as structural issues with the Phoenix plot. Anyways, I would care to wager the most likely offenders were Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman when it came to screentime monopolizing. I don't think Halle had the best working relationship with Bryan Singer either so I'm not sure.

It's a shame but it doesn't surprise me in the least. In a lot of ways, X-men created many opportunities for Berry and Jackman but often times stars like to be in control ultimately. Hence Hugh and his wife and sexy production partner capitalizing on Wolverine the way they have.

Nightcrawler is to Days of Future Past what the Oxford Comma is to English. He's required for it to be right.

They might need a new actor for nightcrawler because Cummings absolutely hated the makeup process so unless they CG his skin or something I can't see him agree to returning(maybe they's throw a lot of money at him).

@EnSabahNurX: Cummings has already said that he would like to return to the role. Nightcrawler can range from anything like practical makeup to mocap

Posted by jhazzroucher

Singer will be getting Tyra Banks or Beyonce as Storm

Posted by THUNDERBOLT30

YYYYAAAASSSS!!! I defihtiely want to see Storm return to the big screen, and Nightcrawler as well. The actual story had them both in it so it makes sense (not that this is the direction the movie will go but just sayin').

See people complained that x3 was over crowded, but they've complained before that their favorite character wasn't in a movie. Once their favorite character was in a movie, but had a small role they complained. The character had little screen time so that every other character got equal amount of time. While making sense to the story, so they complain about having too many characters. It's a never ending circle. I say Nay to Kurt or Storm. We have enough characters, and I don't want to watch another X3. They can have a cameo or something, but I don't want them affecting the story. (+)

Saying nay to Kurt makes sense. Saying nay to Storm, who is headmistress of the school? that doesn't make sense. I HATED the way she was done in her live action portrayals, because I don't feel that they did her justice physically, or with the script. But, when we are talking about the established storylines that X-Men, X2, and The Last Stand followed, then the core people from those movies need to be included with the cast from First Class. Storm's character should actually be in this movie.....I have no doubt she'll get butchered, but she still needs to be in this movie. It'd be just dumb to leave her out after all of the ish X3 put us through

She rallied for more screen time, because she felt that she was just being a background character (oscar/razzie and all). She did at least light research on Storm, and that was enough for her to get frustrated with Bryan. Bryan, on the other hand, was more focused on the love triangle, and the frequent references to gayness and racism. The latter was fine, but he did actually go overboard with the former. However, I still liked the sound of his idea for X3 more than I liked the ish that Ratner ended up giving us

I didnt have a problem with any portrayals in the first three films it was merely an issue of character development. Nightcrawler was great but I do feel the storylines for Storm and Cyclops were a bit lacking. I just didnt feel Storm, Cyclops, and especially Rogue were as tough as they shouldve been. In X3, Storm being so willing to "do what needed to be done" with Jean seemed uncharacteristic to me - she and Jean are supposed to be like sisters. Rogue thinking about taking the cure was perfect but actually deciding to take the cure in the end seemed uncharacteristic to me as well.

I think Halle was ultimately miscast, she was too gentle of a presence in the role which I think left her character a less viable option for leading character material. Storm is an imposing presence, she's not at all the shrinking violet or strong silent type, the actress who plays her has to be built like Grace Jones with the depth of a Angela Basset-type of actress. Tough to find talent for that.

Though, speaking of Famke, she was the best thing about X3 and was great in the other movies. She really gave it her all, I'm sure if Singer had directed her in X3 then it would've been amazing. Just think, that Phoenix emblem flying over Alkaline lake....UGH. Would've been so awesome.
