Will Peter Parker Return This Year?

Well, it looks like the original wall-crawler could make a triumphant return and it'll be in the pages of an all-new volume of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

We all knew Peter Parker would return one day and now it looks like that could happen this year! A look at the Marvel Solicitations (March-April) reveals that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is being relaunched. Writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos are still onboard. Naturally, it's tough not to jump to conclusions and assume this means Pete's coming back, but we can't say for certain yet.

No Caption Provided

Are you excited to hear more about this or what, Spider-Man fans? Only time will tell what this could potentially mean for Doctor Octopus.

Jeez, give someone new a shot (as writer, not as Spidy)

other writers have written books much longer than Slott has been on Spider-man....Johns was on GL for 9 years, Peter David has been writing X-Factor for 10 years....Slott has only written 77 issue of Amazing and so far 24 of Superior....his books sell quite well so why would they let him leave until he's ready?

II'm not bothered about them, I would just like to enjoy Spider-Man again.

you didn't enjoy his ASM run at all?

I stopped reading during his ASM, nothing even to do with Superior. It just got to the point when it felt like I was reading about Tony Stark in a spider suit. Peter was this super science genius that work for a world famous tech company, that either invented his way out of trouble or called in the Avengers, dated a club owning supermodel and had a aunt that cruised around with her private jet owning millionaire husband.

See my problem isn't the whole Doc Oc as Spider-man. My problem is with the generic consequences this entire arc is going to have and how its going to stupidly mess up Peter's life and any development he had since Big Time

@scarlet_rogue: It says that someone who looks like Peter Parker is wearing the classic Spider-man suit. It doesn't say anything more than that. Until there is official word to me this isn't enough information to start celebrating.

he had to build him up to tear him down....seriously....I called...well I didn't call Superior Spider-man but I did call something horrible happening to Peter years ago....it was all going to good for him...like you said Peter had a great job, a great apartment, and things for his friends and family were going great as well...Parker Luck had to kick in at some point and rip all of that stuff away

though I liked the fact that Slott was finally showing off just how smart Peter is...most writers forget about the fact that Peter is indeed a super genius and usually have him resort to hitting things to solve his problems

outside of Bendis's Peter Parker in Ultimate Spider-man I think that Slott's run was the best the 616 has been since well before OMD

I knew Ock's tenure was nearing its end as soon as Osborn got his hands on Carlie and her little book. My money is on Osborn bringing back Peter because he wants to be the one to kill him. You don't take from Osborn.

That would be interesting, and really add to the Norman/Peter relationship. Norman's obsession and Peter's hatred. But it would need to be pulled off well.

Yea but I didn't really enjoy reading about any of that and if I'm not enjoying a story, I have no qualms about dumping the book no matter how much I love a character. Also I never cared for the super smart Peter, I want to read about a normal dude with normal problems that just so happened to have super powers, I think it was a lot better when Pete was high school teacher and a high school teacher level of smarts.

Did I miss something? That image might imply that Peter Parker will be Spider-man again but it doesn't say that. Does the actual solicitation say that? I would love for Peter to be back but right now it just seems like people are making assumptions because the book is titled Amazing Spider-man.

between this news and Bendis saying that we'll get news on the future of the Ultimate Universe on Friday I'm guessing that the April solicitations come out Friday so we'll at least have some answers then

I would love to see Peter back, but it'll take more than that to get me picking up a Spider book. I need people like MJ back too -- intelligent, with wills and lives and purpose. Nevermind the bad that SpOck has done for Peter's life; it's the damage Slott needed to do to keep the ruse going that I'm more worried about being fixed.

finally! there might be some light at the end of the deep, dark, ridiculous tunnel....that was "superior"

but because slott is writing I don't expect any better than we've seen in the years he's written ASM. I think, with the possible return of Peter Parker, its time for another creative team and let slott write silver surfer...

however... if this is just YET ANOTHER way for slott to kill parker, or a fakeout by marvel.. I think its time for a boycott.

After reading Superior Spider-Man #24, clearly Doc Ock's days are numbered as Spider-Man. Although I'm probably in the minority I had no issues with this series but will be glad to see the return of Peter Parker.

What's funny abput this is every body will be rushing to the comic shop to buy ASM #1 thinking "ha, I'm going to buy loads of copies so it out sells SSM, that will show them Peter is the best" and Slott/Marvel will be sitting back LOLing at how much cash they are raking in.

"Will Spider-man look like he's 12?!!!"

It's pretty sad when readers prefer the inhabitated body of your former character by the villain that killed him rather than the original guy. Speaking of which, was Spider-man still magic? Seems like they stopped explaining stuff around the time Civil War began. Geez, if you don't have a decent idea of what your character is or where to go, just don't do it. Especially if it's a big thing that you're not supposed to do in the book. We all know what I'm talking about.

I always thought Doc Ock was an under-rated enemy.
