Will First Class Need to Recreate Some Older X-Men Scenes?

A source says Magneto's intro is getting a do-over.

I suspected that something like this was going to happen in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. Bleeding Cool’s got an inside source saying that the opening scene from X-MEN - - the one where a teenage Magneto first manifests his powers at a concentration camp - - will be recreated in meticulous detail in this new mutant movie. And we’re talking about a “video footage of the original being kept on set” level of meticulous. However, it’s not going to be exactly the same. Aside from having different actors, obviously, there are supposed to be some key additions that will likely serve as retcons to connect this scene to the new portions of the history that they’ll be exploring.

If this is, in fact, true, I’m sure I’ll be getting strong reminders of BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 2. The different angles on familiar scenes, the retroactive replacement of the “old Jennifer”, and so on… you know what I’m talking about. == TEASER ==

 Another shot from it. Hard to believe this movie came out 10 years ago, now.

You know, I realize that a lot of these casting announcements might be leaving fans worried, but I’m willing to put my trust in Vaughn and his crew. He hasn’t made a bad movie, yet… so innocent until proven guilty, right? If true, this kind of thing demonstrates that he’s got enough respect for this material to go above and beyond the usual demands to make sure his movie fits in with what’s come before. There are a lot of comics writers who wouldn’t do the same.

True or not, this does bring up an interesting speculative question. Given what you know about FIRST CLASS, do you figure that any more “glue” scenes like this will be necessary to reconcile this prequel with the rest of the series?

meh it possibly  could.. But personally First Class has way to many characters so far. I really don't like where it's going. But hey i'll go see it anyway.

I would like to see a live action movie based off of the Magneto Testament hardcover story. That would make a good film for non-comic book readers to relate to and recognize. I am curious to how they do some of it in X-Men First Class.

I have to agree with Pinchuk.  I love Vaughn's movies, and I'm just going to trust him to make an entertaining film.  And I also love Michael Fassbender and James MacAvoy -- I haven't been disappointed with either of them.

I agree completely. Thats what I was hoping for when they said they would make a Magneto origins movie. I think the general population wouldn't like a holocaust X-men movie, or even a superhero holocaust movie. it would seem like it was making light the tragedy that occured. Testament was brilliant and I think it stands well by it self.

Maybe Vaughn will consider filming on the real concentration camp in Poland and they'll come to my country. :D

I don't care what they will show in this stupid pile of crap movie. They always ruin one of the best X-Men comic books in history. Heck, I have read X-Men: Children of the Atom and it was a good story potraying the origin of the original five. This comic book won't be anything like the movie. Screw you, Fox. You already made X-Men 3 and Wolverine movie worse. I think I'll just stick to comic books from now on rather than watching pile of crap that has been spawned by Fox.

I dont' think they need to pay  homage to the past x-films 
I think they need to try and seperate themselves from them as much as possible

I like Vaughn but i still cant get behind this movie. After x-men 3 and wolverine I have little to no faith that this will be good. And i really enjoyed X-men and x2. One thing that bothers me the most is that emma frost is in this. Don't like that she will be really old by the time the first x-men movie happens. The fact that there are lots of characters in this dosen't bother me one bit. there are many ways to do this, not everyone needs major character development. I personally would rather them use a mutant from the comics in a cameo then use a made up mutant for the movie. But i still cant trust this movie, been let down to many times by FOX.

I don't understand the title is misleading to me.Xaviers first class of X Men was Beast,Iceman,Jean Grey,Angel and Cyclops so I don't really get why it's called first class since it seems like so many characters are in the film that were not there in the beginning.Like Emma Frost. I like her but I don't see how she would have been there from the beginning.Maybe I am just misunderstanding.Anyway,like you,i will go see anyway.

I'm really thinking a majority of the characters named are just gonna have bit-parts so my faith in this movie is growing exponentially. I still think it's kinda weird to have Havok and not Cyclops, but Alex was the older brother in Ultimate X-Men so I guess I can accept it. 
 
Is there a running list of mutants in the movie? 
Xavier, Magneto, Havok, Emma Frost, Mystique, Banshee, Willow (was this one nixed?)......Kevin Bacon as Sinister or Gyrich?

Yes. However, Bryan Singer and others decided to forget about the possible X-Men Origins: Magneto movie because of what will be shown in the beginning of the upcoming X-Men: First Class film. I would have liked to have seen a Magneto origins movie in which Mr. Sinister appears as a Nazi collaborator (which he was in the comics by the way) and works as a sociopathic geneticist.   I think that would add for some interesting and intense dynamic.

I think it would be great if they just wanted to get comic fans to watch it, but i really don't see the general pop seeing as a masterpiece it could be, it wouldn't work. Th opening or flashbacks may be just enough to get the point across with out pissing people off.

@jordama: What I was hoping for was a sequel to the Magneto Testament trade.  I was hoping for Sinister to show up, sooner or later. Any ideas on why it disappeared?
