Will Aaron Johnson be Quicksilver in 'Avengers 2?'

@thegreyoutcastx: Wolverine and the X-Men did fine with the twins but they were more suited in Avengers: Earths Mightest Heroes. Its still odd when they completely neglect their Avengers heritage. It would be like using Wolverine without EVER mentioning his Weapon X connections or Jean with no Phoenix references. Its like tossing out some of the best storylines and character developments for the characters. But thats just my opinion.

Just the fact that QS could be in this makes me psyched. I could see Aaron Johnson in the part, sure.

That's cause we rarely if ever see them as not Avengers which makes it to me all the more interesting. If you take away frankly the one thing that makes them iconic, what do you get? Untold possibilities.

You can't have quicksilver on the Aveners before Ant-Man. I don't want quicksilver or scarlet witch yet. Give me the ant and he wasp in Avengers 2.

But that isn't what these movies are for. They are for translating the most accurate depiction of our favorite comics to movies.

Hopefully the movie will turn out well still, Whedon brought a lot of energy to the first Avengers so I am not that concerned. But I would have thought Hank Pym would have been a logical addition, adding him could set up Ultron as a third movie villain if they went that far. Or Ms. Marvel for an addition to the female cast presence. They'd both make more sense in my mind. But I'll reserve judgment till I actually see the movie.

I'm I the only one who doesn't mind seeing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2? Although I feel Ant-man/Giant-man and Wasp should be in the movie before any other character on the Avenger team. But Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were on the second wave of the team with Captain America and Hawkeye.

If they want him to look like Iron Man's son than sure. Although, frankly, I'm not really confortable with them using Quickie and his sis without being able to link their origin stories to mutantkind, Magneto and Wundagore. Anyway, we'll see what happens.

Most unlikely. Ms. Marvel could work, given that she has strong ties with both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Kree, the latter being rumoured to have an appearence in GOTG movie, where Ronan The Accuser would be one (or maybe THE) villain. But Panther to be thrown like this in the middle of guys who already had 1, 2 or even 3 solo movies will be a disrespect to this character. Seriously, I'm expecting to see Panther star in his own solo project in phase 3. But if I were to replace Mags' kids with other 2 Avengers I'd go with Ms. Marvel and Falcon, who already is set to appear in Winter Soldier.

@dustwave: Luke Cgae is in the S.H.I.E.L.D TV show, although I agree Falcon would be the simplest option.

Wanda/Pietro are very important members and there powers are interesting so could make for some excellent visual effects on screen.

You can never really accurately judge casting until after you've seen the final product, but Aaron Johnson does not seem to be the best of choices to me. I think Fox picked a much better Quicksilver with Evan Peters. Of course the likelihood that it is even legally possible to get him to play the role in the Avengers is almost zero, but Marvel Studios doesn't come out looking too great in comparison. I could see Tom Felton working.

I just hope they're not like how they were in the Ultimate Universe cuz that would be creepy to watch on screen.

Although, I'd rather have Ms. Marvel. Is it really that complicated to show characters flying?

Ms. Marvel would have been sweet, especially with her connection to the Kree, and the possibility of Thanos coming on as the villain. Would have made way more sense. Then again, we would sit here and argue all day long as to who could pull off her classic look.

I'm gonna have to quote Hitler on this and say " Nein, Nein, Nein!" Joss is a genius, but he's adding too many new characters too fast with a bunch of characters only minimally delved into in the last aVengers film.

Plus I'm horrified everytime I hear Carol Danvers debated. To me, she is nothing more then an excuse to add in a huge boobed woman for the soul sake of sex appeal.

I have the same problem with DC when there's fan or official talk of Power Girl and her exposed chest "window" jumpsuit.

Seriously, how is Quicksilver gonna be in the Avengers when They can't even say mutant and use Magneto? Avengers really doesn't need its own Flash!

Simple solutions to the name issue for the Avengers:

1. Whizzer and Spitfire

2. Northstar and Aurora

3. Pietro and Wanda Smith

Seriously, though, I'm not sure I like the idea of Wanda being the first mortal MCU character to be shown as a sorcerer of some sort... I'd rather that honor go to Doctor Strange.

Also, I'm one of those crazy folks who thinks the Avengers should have had Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne instead of the less-than-impressive MCU version of Black Widow, and then wholly uninteresting MCU version of Hawkeye.

What Marvel Studios REALLY needs to do is get off their asses and make Spider-Woman, already.

Joss is basing the movie slightly from The Ultimates. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were a great addition to the team in the second volume, so it makes sense to put them here. It is also one of my favorite series too.

It will be fun to see this, but I honestly don't like Aaron, or Kick-Ass, much. We'll see.

I just hope they don't have the weird incest love...

joss whedon said he wants saoirse ronan to play scarlet witch. and even though i personally wanted someone older (mila jovovich) im find with that casting especially with the different and weird take he is planning for the twins. they will be british punkers, totally disenfranchised with the world.

I disagree in the case of Wanda and Pietro especially. The Avengers were previously a bunch of lead characters with a limited dynamic as a result but Wanda, Pietro, Wasp, Vision, and Ant-Man created an ensemble of them. A huge reason for why the first Avengers movie was so good was because Joss Whedon is a master of ensembles. Otherwise it would've been a bland, CGI ego-clash.

I was hoping that Evan Peters would be in both to finally end all this stupid Fox vs Marvel Studios garbage or at least contribute to the end. These movies would grosse more if they had more synergy to them. I think the only reason this Aaron Johnson rumor started is because he looks somewhat like Saisore Ronan whom Joss is supposedly tailoring the Scarlet Witch role to.

When asked if Peters' casting would conflict with the role Joss did decline to comment so who knows....

No, the name is up for grabs. I do think it's kinda self defeating to have two versions in the movies at the same time though. It would have been far better to coordinate this for future compatibility. The X-Men movie franchise is like this giant sore of meandering bad short sighted thinking on the movie MU and everything it has the potential to be right now.

Maybe Wanda will say those magic words and allow Marvel to wipe the slate and start again with it's mutants :P

I do not want the duo in Avengers 2. Ms. Marvel and Antman should be added but that's it. Keep numbers low and the story line fluid, fewer new characters mean there has to be less introductions.

Also I do not want him to be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Although Tom Felton would be a great fit, just for a different separate movie.

I'm sorry, but that idea sounds terrible. I trust Whedon, but I also fear some of the ideas that are being tossed around.

@thegreyoutcastx: You're not making much sense. FOX is the one who can't use most of the SW/Quicksilver mythology, since outside of their debute and first few issues, they're tied to The Avengers, not X-Men.

Them becoming heroes as part of Rogers' new team? Their ties to Kree? His ties to Crystal? Her ties to Vision? All their kids? Part of The Avengers lore, not X-Men.

Um....yea, by how much of that is actually gonna appear in the movies? You can't use anything about the characters that connect them back to Mutants, so new origin, no Magneto's kids, new explanation for their powers, no Wundagore, etc. So you basically have to create a new character and call them Wanda and Pietro where as Fox pretty can run with it given what they have. Is that better? You make it out like Wanda and Pietro will appear in the movies exactly like they do in the books and that won't be the case at all.

Why does this have to turn into a p!$$ing match about who gets what characters? Both of these franchises have HUGE casts. Yeah there's plenty of overlap, but there are so many other great characters to bring in. I mean how big was Black Widow before she showed up in IM2? Just a waste of time and resources... Also, I overall lost a lot of respect for Whedon after listening to his Avengers movie commentary.
