Who Wants To 'Come Out And Plaaaaay' With The Warriors?

Classic movie gets the comic book treatment.

Who remembers "The Warriors" movie?  I'm sure a lot of you may be familiar with the bottles clinking together and the line, "Warriors...come out and plaaaaaay."  It was such a simple yet brilliant movie.  Although it's been years since I've seen it.  I know there was a video game for it.  Now it shall become a comic book thanks to the publisher Dabel Brothers.

The comic will be adapted by David Atchinson and Chris DiBari will be doing the art.  The comic is scheduled to make its debut next week at the New York Comic Con but MTV's Splash Page has a ten page preview if you're interested.

Movie adaptions are a tough sell.  For one, you already know how it's going to end.  Unless you're absolutely bonkers for the property, chances are you might not have a desire to pick it up.  Check out the preview.  The art is nice, as is the coloring.  The characters look like their movie counterparts.  Hopefully enough people will want to play with the comic to help Dabel Brothers make a name for themselves.

I wouldn't say I'm 'absolutely bonkers' about the movie (still love it though) and I actually like the great video game a bit more (it does have the deepest beat em up world of all time) but I just love what they are doing with the comic so it my absolute Most Anticipated Comic Book!!!...okay my only anticipated comic book..but still, it's going to be an insanely good read. I can't believe it's already coming out in a week. I feel like I just got The Warriors page added a few days ago.

I saw you added it.  Glad it was there for me to link this story to.

The actor who did the whole "Warrioorrsss, come out and pllaaaayyyy" with the bottles on his fingers, has done a few roles, but as fate would have it, he played the Joker in the Onstar Batman Commercials from a few years ago.  Yes, I AM that much of a nerd to mention this info.

Here's the Warriors scene:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u05Qot_yh9c

Here's the Onstar Batman Commercial with the same actor;  I should IMBD his name, but  I will leave that for someone else to verify.  Trust me, it's the same actor.

REALLY?! That's too awesome. I loved his role in Commando as much as him as Luthor in The Warriors. He annoys the hell out of Arneld. heheBoken said:

And the movie. James Remar is a pure badass. You got to see him in Sharpshooter. He stars in it and he's VERY badass!

Today I watch the movie on Youtube and it's wicked insane! It reminds of New Zeland's Sci-Fi/Teen Drama series The Tribe mixed with FRANK MILLER'S run on DAREDEVIL (especially GANG WAR)......
