Last week DC Comics revealed that the the relaunch of their Batwoman series would be delayed- again. The series that has kept J.H. Williams III fans on the edge of their seats will be released later, rather than sooner, as the publisher no longer plans to release its first issue on April 6th. In fact, DC has even canceled orders for the first two issues of the series and has made plans to re-solicit them. Even the reveal of Batwoman #1's interior pages in the back of last week's comics couldn't keep DC from stopping the second delay of this book, which is unfortunate. If you missed those images check them out below.
J.H. Williams took to his blog to showcase the cover to the upcoming first issue as well as to briefly discuss the delays on the series and express some disappointment, without clearly explaining the reasons behind the delays on the book.

The good news is that production on the book will continue, even if the series has once again been delayed. The question on everybody's mind however, is what is up with the delays? If the first issue of Batwoman had not been ready to go from print to the shop, then it's highly unlikely DC would have promoted the preview as well as the April 6th release of the first issue in the backs of many of their comics last week. Perhaps the reason for the delay of this issue has something to do with Kate Kane's appearance in another popular Bat title- one which has also seen various delays- the release of Batman, Inc. #4. The release of Batman Incorporated #4 is scheduled to hit store shelves on March 23rd, 2011 and gracing the cover of the comic is Kate Kane. It seems fans of Ms. Kane will have to check out Batman, Inc. #4 to catch her next appearance, which based on the preview below, looks like it may be dealing rather heavily on Kate's family history. Could it be that a connection between these two characters be further explored? The upside to a later release means that gives us plenty of time to get a lot of issues done. Amy [Reeder] has turned in some variant cover work for the series and has shown us thumbnails for issue 6, looks really nice. So while I'm moving forward, she is too, we'll have my arc done and hers well on it's way to completion by the time this thing rolls out...I'm fast approaching the middle of issue 3's interior art, Haden and I've started working on script for issue 8, the first 5 covers are done, and Dave [Stewart] has had issue 2 in his hands for his special magic touch.
What do you guys think of the Batwoman delay? Are you looking forward to the series? How do you feel Kate Kane fits into the Bat universe?
