What Superheroes Are Thankful For This Year

This time each year, we reflect upon what we're thankful for. Heroes have plenty to be thankful for as well.

Thanksgiving is a time when most people in the United States look back and reflect on all the great things in their lives. It's a time to appreciate all the good things. Life may not be perfect for anyone but clearly things could be worse. It shouldn't just be Thanksgiving when we realize what we do have.

What about superheroes? Today's heroes have plenty to be thankful for as well. They are lucky to survive each battle. You could even say some should be thankful their books haven't been canceled. As we spend this time with friends and family, let's take a glimpse at what some of today's heroes should be thankful for.

Spider-Man

Peter Parker has always suffered the "Parker Luck" which meant bad things were always bound to happen. Recently, things have been going pretty smoothly for him. He has a dream job at Horizon Labs (and is getting paid), he is accepted by his superhero peers (and is part of both the Avengers and Future Foundation), he survived Spider-Island (and gained the respect of some of the common people) and he regained his spider-senses.

Spider-Man fans can be thankful that Carlie Cooper broke up with him. While she was a likable character, there are many that would like the way to be clear for Peter and Mary Jane to get back together. After experiencing having spider-powers herself during Spider-Island, she also can relate better to what the life of Spider-Man is like and the demands placed on him.

Superman

Superman has been a little sad lately. His original apartment building was demolished, the Daily Planet as he knows it has changed, Lois sort of has another boyfriend, his parents are long dead and he keeps getting attacked by lame villains. What he does have to be thankful for is his cousin. With Supergirl arriving on Earth, Superman (once again) is not the last survivor of Krypton. They got off on the wrong foot but they should find a way to bond.

Cyclops

There was a Schism that broke up the X-Men but Cyclops managed to survive a fierce battle against Wolverine. He might have lost some followers in the X-Men but there are still plenty that stayed behind. They are still those that believe in what he stands for. And he still gets to spend 'special time' with Emma Frost.

Hulk

Hulk has always wanted to be left alone. He hated being part of Banner. Now, through unexplained means, Hulk managed to separate himself from Banner. He is free to live on his own underground with the Moloids. Hopefully he can continue to avoid the government agency that wants him to fight Banner as well as Banner's mutated animals that came seeking him out in issue #2.

Fantastic Four

They've had some crazy times lately. Ever since the death of Johnny Storm in FANTASTIC FOUR #587, the family team of heroes disbanded the FF and formed a new FF...the Future Foundation. With the return of the series for issue #600, the team is pretty much guaranteed to have something pretty big to be thankful for. If you haven't read the issue yet or read about it and feel the need to spoil it, you can check out the image here.

Batman

Batman has had a hard time lately with being 'dead' and making his way back to the present. He does have a family now with Alfred, Dick, Tim and Damian. There's also the dog (which we assume will be called Ace) he got for Damian. Batman Inc is still operational (we assume) and he's kicking all sorts of butt in BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN (courtesy of Scott Snyder and Peter Tomasi). There are some other things Batman has to be thankful for. Specifically, he can thank Judd Winick, Tony Daniel and David Finch for allowing Bruce to take part in some...extracurricular activities. He does have his Bruce Wayne persona to keep up, right?

There are plenty of other heroes that have plenty to be thankful for. Feel free to post what you think they are as well as what comics you are thankful for. It's a great time to be reading comics. And be sure to look back at what you personally have to be thankful for as well.
