What Superheroes are Thankful for in 2014

We take a look at what some super-heroes have to be thankful for this year.

It's that time of year again in the States, where families gather together in their homes over a ridiculous amount of food, awkwardly stare at each other, and catch them up on the tedium in each other's lives. Most families have the tradition of sharing a thing or two that their thankful for in their lives with everyone staring as they speak.

While we'll save you from what we're thankful for, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at what some of our favorite super-heroes are thankful for this year and even let you folks know what some of these characters have been up to the past few months. Let's take a look into the comic book universe to see what some of the coolest characters are thankful for!

Batman

Batman's often been seen as a loner. The truth is, he has a pretty big family. Because of the dangers in just being Batman, he's sometimes tried to keep them at arm's length. They even had a pretty big falling out (that sort of didn't last too long) in Death of the Family. So what does Batman have to be thankful for? When going off to Apokolips on his own to retrieve the body of Damian (which of course will be another thing to be thankful for next year), the rest of his family (Jason Todd, Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake along with Titus and Cyborg) all followed him. He even complimented them on their semi-matching outfits. Batman actually gave a complement! Family is most important to Batman. He just can't always admit it.

Fantastic Four

After months of being in the red costumes, and everything seemingly falling apart, the members of the Fantastic Four, once again, embrace their past by returning to their blue costumes. In addition to that, the Fantastic Four is slowly reuniting after all going their separate ways. While they still have to get Reed Richards back from Eden, Sue, and a cast of others, did help Ben escape from prison after being wrongfully accused of murdering Puppet Master. Thanksgiving is all about family and this family will be celebrating together (except for Reed).

Wonder Woman

A lot has happened to Wonder Woman in recent months, and after numerous battles, she can finally settle down. She's had a long, epic battle with First Born, who killed Apollo, and after his defeat, Wonder Woman found both her mother and father were safe, and secretly hidden in the bodies of those close to her. This Thanksgiving, which they probably don't celebrate on Themyscira, Wonder Woman is thankful just to be with her family and that everyone is safe for now. Also, she's probably thankful to embrace her role as God of War. That's pretty awesome too.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man has had it pretty rough lately. After being defeated by Doc Ock and having his body stolen from him, he finally managed to get it back. That right there is plenty reason to be thankful. Then he found Silk, a woman who was present when he was first bitten by the radioactive spider and was also bitten. They've felt a strong attraction towards each other so Spidey can be thankful for that as well since his love life is always a bit of a mess. He may currently be facing death at the hands of Morlun and his siblings, the Inheritors, but thankfully they're only targeting Spider-folk from different dimensions. That means he doesn't have to worry about Aunt May or any of his friends or family being at risk. On top of that, he now pretty much has an army of allies from across the Spider-Verse and was told he was the greatest one of them all. For a guy that's always suffered the Parker Luck, that's a cool thing to hear.

X-O Manowar

Although Aric has been a massive amount of trauma in the past few years with being displaced in time and made into a slave by the Vine, he and his people, the Visigoths, now have their own claim of land in Nebraska and while they are all misplaced in time, they have each other. More importantly, Aric, along with some help from others in the Valiant Universe, stopped the Armor Hunters from destroying the Earth. Now, Aric has become the front lines in the battle against alien forces, if aliens happen to attack us. From enemy of the state to protector of the world? That's a pretty sweet promotion to be thankful for.

Superman

As the Last Son of Krypton and being so immensely powerful, Superman hasn't really been able to relate to anyone. Sure he may understand humans more than actual humans because of his upbringing and ideals, but with the loss of his adoptive parents at a young age, Superman really lived an isolated life. He was even kind of a jerk at times in his early days in action. Since getting to know Batman when the Justice League formed, we've seen his friendship with Bruce grow a little. More recently, he's formed a relationship with Wonder Woman. The two had a lot in common and have found solace in each other's arms. As powerful as Diana is herself, there isn't the risk factor involved should anyone discover their romantic relationship. Wonder Woman is more than capable of holding her own. The two can spend Thanksgiving together or perhaps they could just go out, holding hands, and stop whatever evil may rear its ugly head on the day of giving thanks.

Captain America

Although Steve Rogers is old now and the effects of the super-soldier serum are no more, it's not all a complete loss for the age-old Captain America. Long-time friend and ally, Sam Wilson AKA Falcon, has taken over the role. Steve must be proud and thankful to see one of his closest friends take his place, but let's try and forget the fact that the Inversion spell made Sam into a bit of a jerk. Now, Steve can relax a little bit and maybe catch up on the decades of reading he missed while being frozen in ice.

Hal Jordan

If there's one guy in the DCU who has it real rough, it's be Hal Jordan. The past few events have taken their toll on the guy and now with Godhead, he was a whole new batch of enemies, from outside his own universe, to handle. Luckily, Hal has some folks working with him and one of them is Sinestro. While working with Sinestro may not be his cup of tea, Hal sure is thankful they can come together for the greater good. On top of everything else, Hal learned that fellow Green Lantern (now a White Lantern), Kyle Rayner, is actually alive. However, Hal may not be too happy to learn who he shacked up with.

Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex is yet another character that's pretty much always been a loner. He's had some female companionship from time to time. One of the very few relationships that has actually meant something to him was with Tallulah Black. After taking a strange journey to the present, he got some plastic surgery on his face. When he came back, he ran into Tallulah again. Discovering someone was impersonating him, Jonah took care of him, leading people to believe that Jonah Hex was actually dead. This allowed Jonah (and Tallulah) to ride off into the sunset, able to start a new life, free from the past. Not many people are able to have a second chance at life.

So that's what some of the top tier super-heroes have to be thankful for this year (yes, we know Jonah isn't your typical super-hero but so what). Let us know what other heroes have reason to be thankful as well as what you folks are thankful for this Thanksgiving in the comment section below!
