Weekly EARTH 2 Series Announced

DC is about to deliver a whole lot more from the alternate universe!

DC recently unleashed the weekly Batman series, BATMAN ETERNAL, and now they're bringing forth another weekly series! EARTH 2: WORLD'S END will also release every week, and there's plenty of writers working on the title: Tom Taylor, Daniel H. Wilson, Paul Levitz, Marguerite Bennet, and Mike Jonhson. As for the artwork, Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez, Stephen Segovia, Paulo Siqueira, and Tyler Kirkham will bring the story to life with their visuals. The weekly series won't come out until this October, but a fantastic image by Ben Oliver has been released to help build the excitement.

There's a fair amount going on in Oliver's picture, isn't there? Will you give this weekly title a shot, Viners? Let us know below!

@lvenger: ah okay, it really lost what made it special, I mean yeah evil superman is cool somewhat, but its completely neglected the main stars, Jay, Alan, and Hawkgirl are barely in it, it focuses on Robo-Lois and Batman.

Ughh... I said this to a Joke to someone who loves the PG character but seriously Val Zod with PG is stupid. Another thing why is he wearing Kal's family crest? He should have his own crest. AANNNDDD another thing. Hasn't anyone noticed how much Val Zod in this pic screams Blue Marvel from Marvel comics? The guys suit mirrors it and Blue Marvel is a black superman in that series.

DC You guys already have a great black Superman in Multiversity/ Earth 23 from President Superman. I love this take.

This Val-Zod as a replacement Superman and his costume is a complete rip off of Marvel's Blue Marvel.

ANNDDD one more thing. I'm not sure if this is intentional but if PG does get with Val Zod, she's really racist/colorist. What PG doesn't like dating people who aren't black? I'm not racist/colorist but that clearly is.

lol Blue Marvel is a Superman ripoff so obviously he looks like him

I won't even comment on the other thing

@captainmarvel4ever: I liked it more when it was more of a focus on the modern Golden Age heroes.

That is exactly what it should be about. Now it's Tom Taylor basically writing "Check it out! what if this was like this!? What if Batman had powers?! what if Superman started destroying earth!? just wait as I take the old plot that was established, and totally F@ck it up!!! EXTREME!!!!!!" I honestly don't have any interest in picking it up any more. Maybe if some of the other writers bring it back to it's original direction I'll look into it, but until then I just don't care.

@captainmarvel4ever: I've been following it through the evil Superman arc, its still worth checking out, but It was better when we had the modern Golden Age heroes against Darkseid . Just give it time, the way its shaping up plus the teaser of the weekly series that came out, I think their going to have to put Superman down. And once that's done they should finish the story that Robinson started and we can get back on track with their original direction.

IDK, in the image we see Dr. Fate's helmet on the ground, and Alan's GL ring falling off his hands. What we do see are the new Earth 2 Superman and Batman. Yes, they may not be Clark and Bruce, but they are still Superman and Batman. From the looks of it the series is going to mainly focus on them, and the possible downfall of the other Golden Age heroes. So it may actually be heading tin the exact opposite direction, focusing on Supes and Bats, while the characters I'm really interested face their downfall. I know that seems like a grim prediction, but the plot so far and this picture make me believe that's what the new series may be about. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling that's what it will be about.

@micah: Yeah, what really turned me off from the series was seeing the Atom lose his arm and possibly die. After growing so close to all these characters it would suck to see them suffer, as we focus on these two guys who just showed up. I feel like writing Injustice has sort of desensitized Taylor to crossing the line. In that series, you wanna cut a guys arm off and beat him with it, be my guest, but in Earth 2, I want to focus on these characters getting a chance to step up, and to see the world saved without Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

@captainmarvel4ever: Christ, that's right. Atom was annihilated by Supes. After I finished the issue I kept thinking maybe he was still alive. But after that beating, I just don't know. That's what attracted me to Earth 2 in the first place. Seeing secondary characters rise and become the first-class heroes in their world. Question I haven't read much of the beginning of Earth 2, but for a world that has been locked in war with Apokolips for years, we haven't seen much of Darkseid have we?

@micah: Not sure myself, I didn't start from the beginning either. I think that the war originally ended when Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman sacrificed themselves, but it has recently started back up after the event's in Darkseid's villains month comic, where he is shown with his own Superman getting ready to head to Earth 2, so I think that's why the war is back on.

So is someone doing covers like what they did for 52 and are doing for futures end?

I would safely put my money on either Nicola Scott or Ben Oliver.
