Slim chances are better than none, right?
Thus is the theme of this latest full trailer for that second WALKING DEAD season that’s mere weeks away, now. There’s a lot more material in this spot that doesn’t look like it was taken straight from the comics, so I guess Kirkman wasn’t kidding about the show becoming his own animal. The trailer still doesn’t offer that much new to talk about, though, so I figure the meatier discussion point lies in whether it taking such creative license is good or bad for long time fans.
Kirkman said he was actually eager for this version to go in its own direction. By his reckoning, it’d be boring for fans to watch a rote translation of every single issue they’d already read. For a story all about tension and surprises, such pre-awareness would certainly kill any sense of suspense. Also, from his perspective as a creator, there are a lot of things he would like to go back and revise (such as the death of Shane,) so this is the perfect excuse to do just that.
I’d tend to agree with the man, but I’m sure there are some purists who’d disagree. How about you make your cases, on either side of the debate, in the talkback?
