[Updated] Watch the "Meet the Guardians of the Galaxy" Videos

The actors and director James Gunn talk a bit about the characters. Plus, hear what Rocket sounds like!

Let the Guardians of the Galaxy marketing begin! First, the debut trailer was released and now it looks like Marvel will be dropping a short video for each character on the roster. This is perfectly logical since it's safe to say a good portion of the general audience has just about no idea whatsoever who these characters are. In this first video, director James Gunn and actor Bradley Cooper share a few remarks about Rocket Raccoon. To top it off, we also hear a line from Rocket!

It's sort of funny timing since Rocket Raccoon was also voted today as Comic Vine's favorite Guardian of the Galaxy character. Anyway, is that how you expected the character to sound? Speak your mind below.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st.

Updates

Marvel just released a "Meet the Guardians of the Galaxy" video for Groot! We don't hear Groot speak, but Vin Diesel chats about the massive character.

And here's one where actor Dave Bautista discusses Drax!

Zoe Saldana shares a few thoughts about Gamora!

Last but not least, here's Star-Lord.

Nice, but that was such a tease.

Can't wait to see more Rocket!

I think it's just like his "old" voice, if you took away the accent.

As far as I am aware Rocket Raccoon was never represented as having a British accent until a couple of years ago in a single video game and a single cartoon show. I certainly never thought of Rocket as British, and honestly, I'd be a bit underwhelmed if he had been. There is not a lot of dialogue here, so it's too early to really say for sure, but I was hoping Cooper would add a little more spice to the voice than I heard there.

Seriously, I don't who came first, but I never read Rocket has having a British accent of any kind.

I liked the little clip though

Rocket has pretty much always been portrayed as British because his creation was inspired by The Beatles song Rocky Raccoon

Not that it matters, but he has always been british, unless people from America and other planets always use words like "bloody" or "jolly good" in their vernacular

Now that is what I am talking about!

Posted by ravisher

people will be mad

Posted by Jonny_Anonymous

@cattlebattle: also I'm not sure American's use the word "batter" when they mean beating someone up

I don't think recent RR has had any accent really, as far as I know. But I don't think it's something big to get hung up over, is it a quirk that made him a little more interesting than what he already is? Sure, but it's not a game changer for me for Rocket. I mean he didn't have an accent in Ultimate Spider Man either, but he was still awesome.

Can't Wait :)

@wolfrazer: yea but the accent was a cool little nod to his creation

DAMMIT. No 'I AM GROOT'

Edited by MrMazz

I am Groot?

I'm by no mean an uber-fan of Bradley Cooper if he's able to tap into that same chaotic mania he has with David O Russel that could be good.

Edited by t_hench

I'm happy with it! Now just give us a taste of "I AM GROOT!"

I never got a chance to read his earlier stories, I was introduced to him through Abnet and Lanning, but it seems like they have certainly dropped the British vernacular in the comics leaving no hints at it.

Yep, I have a feeling Vin will just do fine as Groot, course we didn't hear from Groot but Vin's voice seems to fit nicely.

John C. Reilly's voice keeps taking me out of the moment haha

That being said, I am SO PUMPED for this movie, and I didn't really think that I would be.

@nappystr8: I never read Rocket as British, but he does actually have a cockney accent in Lego Marvel Super Heroes. But I'm cool with the voice we've got.

You don't always have to write his accent to know that he's got one, for instance Wolfbane isn't always written with a Scottish accent but she still has it.

all we need now is ronan yondu and nebula and collector. also anyone see the fight with gamora vs nebula? thats going to be wild

Drax . Gamora . No. That's just not possible...

@14nc3: Don't hold your breath, I'm willing to bet they save that line.

awwwwwwwwww yeaaaa

Can everyone relax listen to the clip more closely? Rocket Raccoon does have his British accent, it is the line he says makes it sound a little faint.

Posted by TheHeat
Posted by AmazingWebHead

Rocket: Aw, no cockney accent?

Groot: Kinda wanted to hear an "I am Groot"

Drax: Have they simplified his origin here? Good.

Gamora: The lack of eyebrows is kinda distracting.

Star-Lord: Outlaw? Because I did my research and it said he was a space cop. Is the change necessary?

Final verdict: this is gonna rule.

"You're Welcome." Love it! xD

Seriously, the more I see of this movie the more excited I get. This very well could open new doors for Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

Hank Pym is an old man

Quicksilver doesn't look like his comic counterpart

Lex Luthor is played by Jesse Eisenberg

Human Torch is black

Rocket Raccoon doesn't have a british accent...

Its the end of times for comic book fans..... :D

Heath Ledger is playing the Joker

Anne Hathaway doesn't even look like Catwoman

X-Men First Class has too many characters

Gandalf is playing Magneto

Wolverine is being played by an Australian

Kingpin is black

It's the end of times for comic books fans

I really hope your post is sarcastic... because everything I wrote were legitimate complaints I've read in the past, mainly when I hung around imdb, before CV. I don't complain anymore. I judge films after I see them.

If anyone wants to complain about Jonah Hex with me, I'll be right here.

BTW... that's a real complaint I made before XMFC came out. Since then, I no longer complain without seeing the movie.
