Two Writers Currently Working on 'Aquaman' Movie Script

Get pumped, Arthur Curry fans!

All signs are pointing to Aquaman having a cameo in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and getting a bigger role in Justice League, but it looks like Warner Bros has even bigger plans for the classic character! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad have been hired to create their own scripts for an Aquaman movie. Beall's credits include Gangster Squad and Castle, and Johnstad's credits include both 300 movies and Act of Valor.

We're hoping you'll be king of the big screen as well, Arthur.
We're hoping you'll be king of the big screen as well, Arthur.

As for which actor will bring Arthur Curry to life, many reports are claiming Jason Momoa landed the role months ago, but the studio has yet to confirm the casting. If you somehow missed it, Zack Snyder also called a radio station to say why he thinks Aquaman is no joke and a seriously powerful character. Seems safe to assume the character will at least be formidable in the cinematic universe! So, it's looking like we may have the opportunity to say "a ticket to Aquaman, please" within the next few years or so. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, let us know what you want to see in an Aquaman movie in the comments below.

I was excited until I saw the track record for these writers. I swear, sometimes I think WB gives the worst writers to non Batman or Superman characters on purpose.

well there goes one of those dates dc reserved. i want to see mera, garth, political/royal intrigue and just all out coolness with my man orin. would love a flash back to how atlantis sunk and about the curse that marked orin as the destroyer of atlantis, giving him many obstacals to over come to take his place as king.

Jonah Hex comes to mind. I saw the trailer for that, and remember thinking "this looks incredibly baaaaaaaad. What the hell were DC thinking?"

Then I read the reviews for it, and I was happy that my suspicions were correct, but also sad and angered that my suspicions were correct.

Warner Bros. could at least try asking Bruce Timm or Jay oliva to write or direct a DC project this were the guys that made DC cool with their animations also couldn't they have gotten Peter Jackson since he has directed most of Warner bros. properties. But I hope these writers suprise me.

I hope they name it King of atlantis rather than Aquaman e.g the man of steel rather than superman or the dark knight rather than batman returns again.

YES! If only it was confirmed... and had better writers... maybe Zack Snyder could direct this movie because of his love and support of the character. Hook-hand! Beard! BATTLE-HARNESSES! Atlantean science not magic. Please don't have Aquaman have mystical roots. I would much rather highly advanced Atlantean weaponry. And giant sea-creatures! Like the Kraken and the new 52 topo. M. Night Shyamalan!

Give me Jason Momoa as a blonde Arthur and redhead Emilia Clarke as Mera. It's good news to have an Aquaman film but these writers kinda suck.

@amazingwebhead: I also hate BBT i was only trying to show that this Tv series that as a great audience (+ - 20 million per episode) and play s in all world, could influenced general movie going audiences...

Starting in B v S as bad a. with j. Momoa, could be good to broke his stereotype, but remember the movie has to be good, and Zack Snyder did not deliver yet, movies are subjective, and i respect if you liked Man of Steel, but it was a movie that divided audiences.

@t_aesir: Yes, I understood your point. If it helps, I hear that Superman will be more like his classic, "takes more priority in keeping civilians alive" self the new movie (if I'm the only one who'll cut him some slack for his lack of experience and given that he was outnumbered and evenly-matched, then fine) which is one of the main things the audience was so divided over

They believe movie writer will do a better job.

Its called Hollywood logic

Hollywood logic, if the dog moves his eyes, you know he is the main villain.

I am the only one that believer they should let the director work like Nolan did, work with the script writers he wants.

Also David S. Goyer did comic books, they should call Geoff Johns, i mean he at least didnt made Gangster Squad and 300 2.

Also didnt we get that Aquaman dont need to be an Angry Captain Hook Metallica Fan in another thread.

I'm really happy that Aquaman is getting his own live-action movie.

But I'm not too sure about the writers.

Then again, seeing how James Gunn wrote the scripts for the two live-action Scooby Doo movies and made a really awesome comic book movie, I think the writers will write a good script and maybe a director like James Cameron, Alfonso Cauron, or Neil Blomkamp will re-write the script and make it better.

That is, if the filmmakers are fans of Aquaman.

ya i know, i would be 110% down for them to do the story, but leave the script and details to a good director/writer.

like if johns and terrio worked on JL together

You have to remember this would be hard, since Snyder is doing the JL movie, so it would mean they would had to work with his vision of the character.

Is hard to believe many directors would be happy to work this way, besides its what made Edgar Wright quit AntMan.

Also directing and writing arent the same job.

Given the annoying levels of darkness, hopelessness, and angst out the wazoo the New 52 has brought, I just don't get why they consider that a bad thing.
