Transformers To DVD And Blue-ray Already?!

Check out the crazy features they have in store!

No Caption Provided
Whether the $820 million that it managed to rake n at the box-office was fully deserved or not is still a matter of debate. One thing is for sure, however, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was the number one movie this summer! It does come as a slight surprise to me, however, that the film is set for release on October 20th. I could have sworn I just saw it at the theater last month...right?

Are you ready for the abundance of additional and interactive footage on the Blue-Ray and DVD? Not only will you have the chance to watch the film  again; but there will be a third interactive disc! The three disc set will include of course the film, as well as three hours of additional and behind the scenes footage, as well as a documentary which will include interviews with many of the cast members and people involved in creating the film.

The Blue-ray disc will contain an interactive augmented reality feature that will allow you to interact with holographic images of Optimus Prime via webcam.
Fans will be asked to piece together the Matrix of Leadership to bring OPTIMUS PRIME back to life, help repair his armor and calibrate his weapons by actually controlling his aim during target practice.

Additionally, the discs will provide a sneak peak at a brand new "rogue robot" and will provide a look at the upcoming "Transformers" project!

Here is what you can expect to find in the upcoming release of the Blue-ray disc and DVD:

No Caption Provided
Disc 1:

* Commentary by Michael Bay, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman

Disc 2:

* The Human Factor: Exacting Revenge of the Fallen--This multi-chapter documentary chronicles the entire creation of the film and includes interviews with the cast and crew:
o Seeds of Vengeance - Development and Design - After the overwhelming success of 2007's Transformers, how do the filmmakers top themselves for the sequel?
o Domestic Destruction - Production: United States - Michael Bay believes in going big: Big action and big explosions. Cast and crew are pushed to the limit as they traverse the U.S. from New Mexico to Pennsylvania.
o Joint Operations - Production: Military - No other filmmaker in the world enjoys the kind of military access and cooperation Michael Bay has. Here we see just how efficient our armed forces are and the awe and respect shown by the cast.
o Wonders of the World - Production: Middle East - You can't really reproduce Egypt anywhere but Egypt so off we go to Giza and Luxor.
o Start Making Sense - Editing - In order to turn over the massive amount of film as quickly as possible to VFX, four editors work tirelessly in a unique tag-team approach to shape the film.
o Under the Gun - Visual Effects - Revenge of the Fallen features the most complicated VFX in film history. So complicated in fact that the filmmakers were unsure they would make the deadline. The DEVASTATOR VFX alone required 83% of ILM's total render farm capacity.
o Running the Gauntlet - Post-Production and Release - Working seven days a week, Michael Bay and company usher the film through sound design, Digital Intermediate color-timing and a globe-trotting whirlwind of premieres.
* A Day with Bay: Tokyo--An intimate and fun all-access journey with Michael Bay as he travels to Tokyo, Japan for the world premiere of the biggest film of the year.
* 25 Years of TRANSFORMERS--Access an all-new featurette celebrating a monumental milestone for one of Hasbro's most successful and popular franchises.
* NEST: Transformer Data-Hub--Explore conceptual artwork created by the production for 12 of the most popular AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS from the film.
* Deconstructing Visual Bayhem with Commentary by Pre-Vis Supervisor Steve Yamamoto-- A series of multi-angle pre-visualization sequences allowing viewers to learn how some of the film's most spectacular scenes were created with an introduction by Michael Bay.
* Extended Scenes
* Music Video: Linkin Park's "New Divide"

No Caption Provided
BLU-RAY EXCLUSIVE:

* The ALLSPARK Experiment--Viewers get their chance to unleash the power of the recently recovered ALLSPARK shard on Earth vehicles. Begin by selecting and customizing a vehicle with a selection of parts and accessories. Then apply the ALLSPARK to this creation and watch what happens. Applying the ALLSPARK to certain custom combinations enables four new robot characters with special powers. If viewers discover all four, they unlock a fifth vehicle, which reveals a top secret message about the future of the TRANSFORMERS movie franchise.
* NEST: Transformer Data-Hub--A database of some of the TRANSFORMERS characters that appear in the new film, offering users access to each robot's confidential file including:
o Innovative 3D spin galleries of each robot
o A timeline for each TRANSFORMERS character charting its origins, back story and design evolution from toys to animated series to comics and finally feature films
* Giant Effing Movie - A very personal look at the making of the movie.
* The Matrix of Marketing--An archive of the film's promotional media including trailers, posters and television spots.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to picking this up? Do you think that all of these "cool" features have been added to compensate for a film that received very poor reviews?

Yeah, Movies seem to come out on dvd very quick these days. Where before it used to take a year to two now they throw them out onto the dvd market while the buzz about the movie is still hot..... Plus this is something that geeks and dvd geeks will get even if they saw it in the theater a month ago.

I'll be damned... You're right. The first came out in July and hit DVD in October the same year. Meanwhile take a movie like Batman forever that came out in summer of 95 yet didn't come out on VHS til fall of 97

Man, Is this one of those "Becoming old" things where you start telling kids "I remember when all we had was VHS and it took 2 years to even get it on that! And most of us rented them..... What? HELL NO WE DIDN'T HAVE NETFLIX! We had to go to a store where they let us pay too much for something we would get bent over at the counter if we didn't return it in time."

Ah, Gotta love getting old.......

I should have clarified more. A DVD will can be released four months later, some studios wait a little longer. I'm guessing there trying to release Star Trek close as to Christmas as they can, without waiting to long.

I honestly thought they'd hold it back an extra month in time for the Christmas rush.

All these movies receive poor reviews. The big reason this one did is left wing critics who thought it was racist.

These special features aren't much different then the ones that come with every other film like this, and they about the same as what I remember from the first

I thought it was a crappy movie not because I felt it contained racist undertones, but because it was a lousy script and horrible acting.

Really? It was a lot like the old show for me. I don;t know, I thought it was a good follow up to the first. But I also like the subject matter and loved the first one. I really have a hard time saying bad things about a well done movie based on a toy

I agree on most of the script and the acting. So much felt forced. Though those Autobot Twins were so over the top. Not to mention, "Why would an ancient Decepticon be disguised as a Blackhawk jet?"
There was also that female  Decepticon  that looked like a real woman. If they could do that. Why didn't they have more?
This movie was more like a special effect orgy. (Forgive the imagery, but it seemed appropriate.)

I think the movie did things too fast.
would've been waaaaaay better if they slowed down a notch or two.

I agree. The only decent thing about the movie was action.

technologically  impaired, no BR

i can say this. ive read many, many reviews of this movie. these are the largest used complaints ive seen.

 - had too many scenes of jets and vehicles for no reason (in a movie about robots that turned into vehicles
- Bay directed a movie that was mainly an action flick with big explosions and other eye candy
- Megan Fox's acting wasnt on point. she was there to be eye candy
- Bays plot was horrible and filled with holes ( Bay isnt the writer, he's the director. his job is to choragraher the action sequences.)
- it was filled with juvenile " Beavis and Buttheadish "humor
- it seemed as if it was partly for kids

yep all true...this is the part that grabs me...

- this movie failed my " expectations "

?

it wasnt a quality movie. wasnt meant to be. its meant for hyperactive teenagers, supposed to be corny and flashy, and its number one purpose was to sell merch, especially the toys. this movie was what it was supposed to be. alot of kids love it, and the issues that bothered adults dont phase the majority of the target audiance. i read the same or close to complaints and gripes about Garfield, The Chipmunks and Cat In The Hat ( Mike Myers acting wasnt up to par, oh really? )

Apart from the action sequences, the film was cringe-worthy in a lot of places. Comedy robots I can do without (which is why I hate CP30 so much). As a piece of escapism from the usual crap that is my life it fulfilled a purpose. Still, once again hearing Optimus Prime's voice stirred fond memories for me (seriously, people talk about Old Yella or Bambi's mother dying as the saddest thing from thier childhood, not a patch on how i felt when Optimus Prime died in the 1980's Transformers the Movie). If they ditched the "comedy" robots and worked hard at making a better plot the third entry in the series could be amazing.
As for DVD and BlueRay extras.. meh. I used to buy special edition DVD's with all the extras but found I rarely watched them. Aside from listening to the film-maker commentary i usually don't bother. If I am going to get this on DVD i shall go for the basic edition (if possible)

The first one came out on DVD in October as well, so this isn't really an accelerated timeframe.  They wouldn't want it to compete with the disc release of Star Trek in the following two months anyway.
