ThunderCats Episode 5: "Old Friends" Clips and Images

Panthro finally joins the team...but will he follow Lion-O's orders?

Last week ThunderCats fans finally got the moment we were waiting for...the return of Panthro. Lion-O's cool and the king but he's still young and figuring out his way. Cheetara kicks major butt and Tygra's cool as well. But Panthro is another story. And we get to hear more of that story in this Friday's all-new episode of ThunderCats.

"Old Friends" premieres on Cartoon Network at 8:30/7:30c. Panthro finally joins the team but his gruff demeanor intimidates Lion-O. Despite his best efforts, Panthro can't dissuade the Cats from following him on a mission to get Thundrillium to fuel the Thundertank.

Plus, a mission leads Panthro to his old nemesis: Grune!

Here are some clips courtesy of Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network.

And here's a few images to go along with the clips.

This show has been pretty awesome so far. The art style works for me, the colors and the action are fluid and they tend to pop when necessary. Cant wait for the next episode

Man Panthro needs to be voiced by Samuel L Jackson just becasue I imagine him as Jules Winnfield. Kevin Michael Richerdson though is pretty awesome.

would really like it if this was more mature, the first 2 eps were great but the last 2 eps have takin a seriously childish turn, i mean a giant seacucumber ripping off moby dick, and talking plants that live and die within a single day...

I didn't think they would use it in this reboot.

@DH69
Remember that pretty much all of the old '80s Thundercats episodes were corny and a little kiddish.  This may be a reboot with a much more cohesive and sensible storyline, but it is not a high action anime featured on adult swim, featuring very adult themes.  Like the original, it will appeal to younger audiences, probably to sell toys.  The cartoon is a way to incorporate morality tales into a medium which appeals to younger viewers.  Yeah the whole "Moby Dick" story and the Petalars were very corn ball, but I think that it will pick up again and get just as good as the first two episodes.

@RalfvdH: Yeah the tail kind of baffled me. Oh well we got one of the old school villains showing up in this episode.

Sure does look great!

The show has exceeded my expectations 100% It's a great update to a classic franchise. Can we get  M.A.S.K., SilverHawks, Inhumanoids and Pirates of Darkwater updates next?

@Dedpool
SilverHawks & Inhumanoids would be cool M.A.S.K. Idk about but SilverHawks was just to badass to pass up & add Bravestarr to that list & CN's lineup would be perfect.

But as for the clips it appears young Panthro was a tribute/homage to the original Panthro & the new version putting  more emphasis his martial arts background (with the Asian hairstyle); his war knowledge as he obviously has the scars to show for it & his costume is updated to be add more bodyarmor as well boost his powerhouse/brawler style.

i'm not getting the new Thundercats on some levels, but i love how everything stays old.... Panthro's spikes, panthro's nunchucks, the Thundertank...and way in the beginning, the Sword sequence, Mumm Ra's transformation,...Tygra using the words "now you see me, now you don't" when he disappears... all so significant. So aweshum!  (i also see the Driller here. Then again third earth was never part of this show and instead of the Cats landing on Mumm-Ra's turf we have Mumm-Ra invading them...making him even more evil-er, which is also aweshum)

Then again, the Thundercats are all about 4 things, Truth, Justice, Honor and Loyalty. Now i don't know if it's only for their Aristo-cats (btw originally not ALL thundercats were thundercats, only the nobles,) I thought it was kinda Nazi....and the mutants were horrible monstrosities you could just go beat up, there was nothing wrong with that, in fact it was HILARIOUS)  In the first (double) episode...all thundercat citizens ganging up on 2 captive lizards... was that cool? Lion-O has to come in and point out right and wrong, but his father, the KING or even Tygra (MOST honourable Thundercat EVER, cos in the trials, he was the test of INTEGRITY ) don't see anything wrong with that?

Ok, so they're enemy spies who wanna f*ck you up, a wise ruler wouldn't let them out for the sake of his people... still, honour man! JUSTICE! The street fight wold show that...you can't expect ordinary citizens, who are good men but have to deal with tough stuff, to be all considerate, so only the ruling class is OBLIGED to the Thundera code, (stuff like that has been seen in history) So i don't know if this DECLARES the code of Thundera, and Lion-O as a more appropriate, just, honourable leader or shows a LACK of Thunderian values. And in this 5th episode, how Tygra and Panthro talk to Lion-O, with no respect but like talking to...a kid? no not a kid, but an idiot... in the original cartoon they'd never do that! they were such a good team! and lacked conflict and made a boring show, but so supportive. Tygra was personally responsible for letting Lion-O make mistakes and learning. But new Tygra is awesome
