@g_man can you do a review or a discussion on the marvel one shot all hail the king.

Since well the ending...

Foolish mortal! There is no blooper that the lord king Odin himself hath not approvedeth!

I really need somewhere to openly speak about what just happened in All Hail The King. I wasn't expecting a big reveal because there's never been one in a one-shot, but this was big.

it's Myeuh muih! XD Kat Dennings is so great. (just wanted to point that out here)

That hiddleston flip was 10/10

@daltonmunnal: but it wasnt. they didnt show anyone and if you have been following the story behind the film they didnt reveal anything that we didnt know already. it was a further disappointment to me as a mandarin fan. they even made this stupid joke "no one will remember the name of who i pretended to be, just who my name blah blah blah" and im like sorry dude never noticed that they said your real name only that you pretended to be the mandarin.

is it really so hard to cast someone like cary hiroyuki or andy lau or even the great tony leung as the mandarin and get it over with.

now that post credit scene was the only thing that was worth watching. that should have been the short

I completely lost it during the bloopers. When Mjolnir broke off the handle and when Loki was flopping around in the hair ... oh man those are great. I might just get the DVD for the bloopers.

They DID reveal things we didn't already know! They didn't show us the Mandarin himself, but they demonstrated that he exists. Until the reveal was given (not that we weren't expecting it) official MCU canon was that Killian was the Mandarin, and that's that. Nothing more to be known. This short basically announced Iron Man 4 featuring the real Mandarin.

@daltonmunnal: well i read an article on bleeding cool (and on clevver movies on youtube) from the creators of all hail the king back when they were filming it saying that the real mandarin is out there and he is not pleased that someone was using his name. and though things can change (what's that saying money talks and bs walks?) downy said he's not doing an iron man 4 just the last two avengers movies. but like i said he could always change his mind

Well, if the creators spoiled the point of the one shot that far ahead of time then that's incredibly lame, but this is still new stuff to talk about. I've also heard the talk about RDJ not being obligated to do anymore and thinking he was getting too old for it, but I severely doubt they would have made this short if they didn't already talk him into it. No point setting up for a movie they're not going to make, and I doubt they'd consider recasting him.

Nice, but I just want to see "Long Live The King" and find out once and for all if the reputation of Marvel's most underrated big bad can be salvaged

@daltonmunnal: from my understanding this short was suppose to ease the fan hate by setting up that hey the mandarin you all know love is out there and MIGHT one day show up. i personally hope this isnt true but there are rumors that an avenger will die and people speculate that it will be tony and then rhodey would replace him as iron man, maybe not take the name and suit but take over the franchise. and lets not forget even though mandarin is mostly an iron man villain he doesnt have to just face iron man. they have the marvel nextflix shows coming up plus other characters solo films such as ms. marvel, black pather and ant-man. perhaps one of them could bring him into the fold at a later date

@perfect_10: Well, as for being specifically meant to ease the fan hate, I wouldn't be bothered (though I wasn't bothered by the twist to begin with) if that were the case, but I'd prefer to think that the eventual reveal of a real Mandarin was always the intention. They did say in Iron Man 3 that "Mandarin" meant something along the lines of (I don't remember the exact quote) "the leader behind the curtain" or something with a similar implication. This foreshadowed the idea of Killian being the Mandarin, but I spent the whole movie thinking they were taking it a step further and giving us an actual Mandarin. Also them not tying Killian/Mandarin into the Ten Rings from the beginning of the trilogy is too glaring of an oversight for me to think they accidentally missed it and this wasn't where they were planning to go.

After typing all of that I realize I misunderstood your first sentence to mean that they were only introducing a real Mandarin and whatever stories follow to satisfy the fans, rather than that they might not have plans for him at all, and the one shot was meant to say he exists and nothing more. I'm gonna leave that wall of text up there anyway, but as for the idea that they aren't necessarily planning to do anything with the aftermath of this one-shot.... It's possible, but I doubt it.

As for the potential of Mandarin showing up in something not Tony Stark centric... again, it's possible (which is why I said "basically" confirmed, being careful to leave room that they might not be going with the obvious implication of Iron Man 4 feat. Tony Stark), but... I doubt it. That wouldn't satisfy fan hate at all. We don't want to see him fight The Defenders, or the Agents of SHIELD, or Ant-Man (the other solos you mentioned are still rumor mode) or anybody else. We want him to fight Tony Stark.

Still spoiler tagging for those that don't know what's coming in the one-shot....

@daltonmunnal: well hopefully you are right. are you into the flash? have you heard about the casting for the series?

Those bloopers are hilarious!

I always thought they should make Faran Tahir's character from the first Iron Man the real Mandarin. Last time we saw him he was temporarily paralyzed by Obadiah Stane and although his men are executed, we never actually see him die. So I figure once his paralyses wore off he found himself wandering the desert, where he eventually stumbles upon a crashed Makluan ship. After studying the ship's technology for a time he returns to the world where he learns about the events of Iron Man 3. He sees how psychologically damaging the Mandarin was for Tony Stark and so returning to the Ten Rings he takes up the Mandarin name and begins a new campaign of terror against Tony.

@darkseid_beyond:
That would be fantastic, but it can't happen quite like that because the real Mandarin existed prior to Iron Man 3.

@perfect_10: I don't know much about the Flash, so I haven't paid any attention to the casting since I won't have any opinions on the actors fitting the roles, but I'm certainly excited for it. Arrow's great.

Not gonna buy it, but I'm disappointed they didn't keep that scene. That scene has the type of heart and depth that Marvel films have been lacking recently for the sake of comedy.

Not to mention the Warriors 3 and Sif were hugely underused.
