BATMAN INCORPORATED #7
Batman's defeated and falling to his demise. Batman Inc is in ruins and has suffered casualties. Damian now needs to step up to the plate and face Heretic... and if he loses, Gotham dies. There isn't a preview, but I imagine that's because it would spoil how Batman totally doesn't die.
BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT #16Â
Don't groan yet, there's a reason we have another Batman title in here! You see, this issue welcomes artist Ethan Van Sciver to the title (although I think David Finch rocks with street level titles). Additionally, this will be the first big Mad Hatter story in The New 52. According to the solicit, this will be "unlike any Mad Hatter case" we've seen before.   Check out Newsarama for the rest of the preview.Â

HAWKEYE #7Â
Hawkbro's regular adventure is being cast aside for a month to focus on the devastating effects of Hurricane  Sandy.  I imagine Matt Fraction's script will once again be filled with laughs and lighthearted fun, but also help many realize just how bad the storm really was. Love it or hate it, you're probably at least curious to see what writer Dan Slott has in store for us. Quick question with non spoiler answer please; is Superior Spider-Man worth my money or should I buy something else?
In my opinion no. The execution is kinda average, and Yost writes an ironically better Superior Spider-man than Slott does. Also the book is 3.99 and double ships. The best part to me is the departure the series is going in and the art but there's no point if the writing isn't there.
Cool thanks for the advice! I haven't read 1 or 2 yet but if I'm not impressed I'll switch to Avenging Spider-Man since I do like Yost's take on SpOck.
By all means try it out and see if you like it. I just wasn't in love with the first issue. Haven't read the second yet though.

It never ceases to amaze me how people freak out over something they think will happen in a story. More often than not, what they think will happen doesn't end up happening, but that doesn't stop them from freaking out the next time around.
Not only that. The implications of the words "promoting" is that an act being promoted is an act that people should do. But in this case Doc Ock is the one doing it so it's not really promoting it, it's showing us that bad guys do indeed do bad things (gasp), it's not as if it's the heroes the ones who people use as the role models are doing it. If a villain robs a bank does that mean the writers are promoting bank robbing? No. It's a villain aka a bad guy, their actions are almost always meant to be the things that are morally wrong hence they are villains.
I wouldn't mind as much if people just said they were uncomfortable with the possibility of rape happening. But to say that if the act does happen that rape is being promoted is overreacting. Long story short Peter Parker is the good guy whatever he does is the one being promoted whereas what Doc Ock does as spider-man not the acts being promoted. SSM almost killed Boomerang Peter somehow made Ock stop which act was being promoted the senseless beating of the villain or holding back.

Kissing is hardly rape. Saying the Comic Vine staffers made a rape joke or condoned rape in ANY way is laughable to anyone who frequents this site or listens to the podcast. You're talking about a group of adults who don't even condone casual sex as per the Young Avengers discussion on last weeks podcast.

2. I never said they made a rape joke, I never said they condoned rape. I was upset that the reaction to this rape scenario wasn't "there is a good chance there will be a rape in this book, and, especially since it's being played for laughs and shock value, it is horrible and should be condemned", the impression I got from that blurb was that it wasn't being treated as seriously as it should be by the Katzman, who already clarified his feelings both in these comments and in a later article.

Man, no one is giving Superman any love. I like Scott Lobdell's writing and I think the H'El on Earth story is awesome. Doesn't seem many others do, though.
Not many coming out this week. I'm getting Hawkeye and Superman and maybe Avengers. That all depends on if my comic shop got TMNT 18 yet. I said I was going to give up Avengers because I'm not impressed but I don't have cash and have a $10 minimum to use my card so I need the extra book to fill it in: p
(And 4 Panini UK titles: The Astonishing Spider-Man #82 / Wolverine and Deadpool #41 / Avengers Assemble #14 / incredible Hulks #11 and Titan UK's Batman the Dark Knight #7.)
All Star Western #16 and Aquaman #16 for me this week.
Though Batman: The Dark Knight #16 is tempting, The Mad Hatter is an interesting villain to me (of course when he's written right; I've always preferred the Batman: The Animated Series version of the character).
To more reasonably contribute to the topic here: I've really been enjoying the Injustice: Gods Among Us run, particularly because I know so little about the characters and would otherwise be very confused going into the game. For a gimmicky sales-driving thing (sorry, I hate cross-media tie-ins), it's actually being done pretty well.

Superior Spider-Man and Punisher: War Zone are the only titles I'm interested in this week. I'm reminded that I'm long overdue for a rampage on Invincible because I'm so behind that it's embarrassing.
I definitely recommend picking up Hawkeye 7. It should be a good jumping on point for what I think is currently Marvel's best series, and Matt Fraction is donating all of his royalties for this issue to Sandy relief.

Implying I feel like I'd puke if I saw Otto-Man and MJ making out is silly? That definitely wasn't my intention. Additionally, I don't believe Slott will have "Pete" and MJ go all the way. Right now, Ock is acting like a perverse old man, and while that makes for some very creepy/awkward moments, I'd like to believe Slott won't let him get too close with MJ (and by that I mean beyond kissing). After all, it looks like Carlie is already going to tell MJ about what "Doctor Octopus" said while attacking the police department.
I think it's more that you went halfway with the rape scenario in terms of taking it seriously. It came across as a joke, or at least potentially a joke, especially on the coattails of "love it or hate it." I'll admit that I may have read more into it than was there, probably because I'm looking for an out-and-out condemnation. Admittedly, MJ looks a bit surprised in that picture so she may immediately push him away and flip out or something, but meanwhile the whole "reunion" phrasing, lame sales pitch aside, certainly does nothing to assuage the temporary horror.

I'm not sure why the "love it or hate it" remark is coming across as a joke. It's truthfully how the majority of people (at least the vocal ones) on the site feel - they love or loathe it. And, regardless of which side they're on, it's because they care about Spider-Man, so in turn, even if they don't read the book, I imagine a good deal are still curious to know what will happen. That was in no way meant to be a joke or even a lighthearted opening statement with the book.  See, this is where you and I differ on the subject. There's a community that thinks "Peter" having sex with MJ is possible and I agree such a thing would be terrible. However, it'll take more than a cover of them kissing to make me think Slott would go to such a dark place in this book. My "barf bag" comment was coming from a far more innocent and optimistic mindset -- one which thought of them merely kissing because, like I said, I hope Slott wouldn't take it further.   After all, covers aren't exactly known for accurately portraying what will happen within the pages. Like you said, that could be "Peter" catching her off-guard with a kiss and moments later she'll push him away. Or, it could even be a total red herring and the issue could be about MJ manipulating "Peter" to see if it's truly him (seems natural after Carlie voices such a strong concern and "Peter" has clearly been out of character).  Hopefully I've helped clear up my opinion on that. If you're still offended by the remark, then apologies, but it was applied to just the possibility of them sharing a kiss. Now we just need to wait until tomorrow to see what will actually happen... and I hope my thoughts on Slott hold true!

@dondave: I've got some issues with Van Sciver too. Bluntly, it seems like he tries to go for a pretty realistic approach but it often feels like he's reaching beyond his grasp. He's just not skilled enough to get the look he's going for. He's a good artist but I think he needs to re-appropriate what style his skill set is capable of.
Every now and again, it'll work. I thought his stuff on the GL Annual was really well done and it didn't have that poor-realism approach I often find. Looking at those Dark Knight pages though, I see those problems reoccurring.
Again, I don't mean to say he's a bad artist or put him down. Just explaining my own issues with his art.
