'The Wolverine' Trailer

Feast your eyes on the full trailer!

After two previews of a preview, the wait is finally over. Inspired by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 Wolverine tale, Logan's second solo film takes him to Japan where he'll encounter quite a few familiar faces. We've known who the key players are for quite some time, but now, thanks to the trailer, we see why Wolverine comes to Japan. Check it out below!

While Logan didn't lose his healing factor in Claremont and Miller's run, it's worth noting that Lord Shingen did indeed poison him, and in turn, that weakened his healing factor. Naturally, this is only inspired by the story and not based on it, so there's bound to be plenty of changes -- nothing wrong with that assuming they're handled well (here's lookin' at you, Weapon XI...).

So, what do you think of the new story and clips of action, Viners? It certainly looks like an improvement over the last film, but is that really saying much? The trailers for the '09 movie really impressed me yet we all saw how that turned out. That said, I'm a sucker for Silver Samurai and their fight looks like good fun. Here's hoping this film finally gives the popular X-Man the solo film he deserves (unless you consider the original X-trilogy Wolverine movies since he did soak up most of the time...). The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold and comes out July 26th.

I want to be optimistic but I fear it will be a lot like the Origins movie. Here's hoping I am wrong.

Looks awesome. I just hope it lives up to the hype; I'm very skeptical after the first movie...

So are they taking away the healing factor or just weakening it?

As long Wolverine's rights belong to Fox,every movie of him will sooooo suck!!!

I'm pretty sure Hugh Jackman is actually Wolverine in real life. Looks sick!

Looks pretty solid. That's a lot of ninjas!

Nice, looks better than any of the X-men movies and Wolverine movies combined. Hoping this will finally bring some justice to those series.

Trailer looks good but then again the Wolverine 1 trailer looked good too

looks good, but not great

A vulnerable Wolverine sounds interesting to put more risk on him, but the arc of the story sounds incredibly predictable. Odds are that this man who's dying only really wants Wolverine's near immortality, and this is all some elaborate ploy.

I want to see it, but I'm unsure if it's one I'll see in theaters.

Looks fantastic, but I'm sure I'm in the minority who liked his Origin film too. I haven't read this story yet but this is more loner Wolverine which seems to be the best situation for him. We've seen with other Marvel movies that making heroes human or more human is a good way to go.

My thoughts exactly.

I know Yukio will be in the movie, but the redhead Asian chick looks like Deathstrike. Love them both anyway. I think they mayve spoiled a secret Identity viper/Hydra was gonna carry. 1:40 is that two wolverines or just a shapeshifter? I am excited, I like Silver Samurai and even Yukio/Deathstrike. Back when he didn't have his memories, his history in Japan/Madripoor was the most interesting parts. Cyber was a cool character I don't know much about, he should show up someday

@k4tzm4n there's actually two trailers out there. You posted the international, but the domestic one is out there too:

Well, this looks excellent. I'm rather looking forward to it. On a lighter note:

And to those who are and will complain that the story is "overdone", "passe", and "predictable", YES!! It is, because it's based on comics we all know and love. If they gave us something knew, and reinvented the storyline, we'd all complain that they weren't faithful to the comics. So let's sit back and enjoy seeing our favourite mutant take the silver screen by storm once more. It looks like it's going to be a fun ride.

If they pull this off, then the next X-Men movie will be a success as well.

I have high hopes for this movie. I hope it doesn't let me down

I'm most surprised that they're making it a sequel to X-Men 3. I always assumed it was going to follow origins but still be placed before the first X-Men movie.

this was bound to happen. they's know way they would leave out the japenese saga.

EXCITED. Looks really cool.

Looks like it will be the Wolverine movie that Origins tried and failed hard at being. Should be a fun movie to watch with cool action and a few character moments for Logan.

@darkwingdan: Thanks for sharing that. Both trailers look awesome!

Lot's of changes but who cares. This looks outstanding so far. I thought last Wolverine movies trailers were okay when I saw them. I wasn't as empressed as I was with this one. Looks like they're going as dark as they can. I can't wait now.

Posted by LordRequiem

Oh look another film where someone must become weak before they can become victorious, because that's just what everyone wants to see apparently. The trailer looks very run of the mill, and I wonder if we'll actually see Wolverine fighting skillfully as he does in the comics, I highly doubt it.
