The UNIMAGINABLE Tournament Winners!

Witness the great imagination of the Comic Vine community!

A couple weeks back, I asked you maniacs to open your hearts, bare your souls and unleash your wildest imaginations, worst fears and most incomparable talents for a contest like no other…

The Absurd UNIMAGINABLE Tournament!

My forthcoming comic, UNIMAGINABLE (available next week, order on Amazon!) features creatures who are so terrible and horrifying that nobody can actually imagine what they are. Of course, by nobody, I mean everybody except the maniacs in the Comic Vine community. Your task was to tell me a story about your worst fear and then to illustrate an incarnation for the Unimaginable that captured that story...

...and you all surpassed my wildest expectations!

Your prizes were to see your creatures reinterpreted through the talents of the five deadly venoms behind UNIMAGINABLE - - myself, Kurt "The Kentucky Twister" Belcher, "Obscene Machine" Levi Skeen, Zack Turner "The Man Who Paints with All Colors of the Rainbow" and Matt "Mount Nelson" Nelson.  Below, you'll see the fully-rendered champion, followed by the individual pencil drawings of each runner up. If you like what you see here, if you've enjoyed this whole wonderfully-twisted experience and if you enjoy comics that are unlike anything you've ever encountered before, then do yourself a service and pick up UNIMAGINABLE.

Now, behold the creatures in this colossally-creative menagerie..  == TEASER ==

 The No.
 The No.

Bridspawn wins the tournament with this monster, one based on a fear we can all relate to (I know certainly have.) Compare his drawing to the one above and read this entry of his, this entry we drew such ghoulish inspiration from...

"...my worst fear [is] interviews. I hate them but for the past few months in San Francisco I have been desperate to get them. This is my rendering of a monster who embodies that overwhelming feeling of stage fright when you need to be your most confident as well as the fear of inevitable rejection. This creature literally has "NO" written across its' eyeless face."

For this, he receives a hi-res file of the above, original art from the series and a $100 gift package that's been generously donated by the fine folks at Arcana Studio

THE RUNNERS UP (in alphabetical order)

Each one of these entrants' monster have received a radical re-interpretation form Mr. Belcher. Give me your mailing address in a PM and we'll send along the pencils, as well as original art from the series. However, as I mentioned, if you aren't you're a US resident, you'll still receive a hi-res file of the image, but nothing physically will be actually mailed to you.

Biondello’s Nuclear Dogfish
"I live by the beach and go swimming every summer. One year I saw Jaws and learned there we dogfish swimming in the water. Needless to say, I stopped going in the water. Combined with the nuclear plant down the coast, you never know what scary radioactive sharks are in the water."

CarnivalofSins00’s Evil Lion
" My fear has always been death. Not in general, but a very specific death. Since Ive seen what a lion can do, Ive always been afraid to dgo the way Mufasa did. Imagine youre walking along a cliff, all of a sudden you trip, youre hanging now. That just calls the attention of lions. I would be pushed off, trampled, and my kingdom would be left to that evil lion."

Clawfist’s Eyes in the Dark
"When I was a kid, I kinda used to be afraid of the dark... I used to look around so much in the dark I used to see figures, shadowy figures with no eyes, but somehow I felt like they were staring at me, some of them just smiling all friendly like. They weren't mere shadows, I could see subtle details on their bodies... they had facial features such as mouths and chins, but no eyes, like their eyes were floating somewhere in shadows around I could feel them staring... When I drew this, it kinda spooked me out..."

Danial79's The Public Eye
" My biggest fear is being in the public eye; in the spotlight. I've always preferred staying behind the scenes, and keeping watch from the sidelines. I didn't even go to my own University graduation for god's sake!"

Om1Kron’s Rollin Lizard Roller Coaster
2 things I HATE, that I FEAR... ROLLER SKATES (not blades, I used to play rollerhockey) those stupid 4 wheeled shoes with the huge rubber brake on them... What I even hate and fear more than those is Heights and whats a fun family day at Six Flags Magic mountain involving... ROLLER COASTERS... I had decided to grow a pair on my senior year of high school and defeat my fear of heights by riding all of the roller coasters at six flags. They're actually pretty fun (as long as your eyes are closed) haha"

Sora_thekey’s Elevator Monster

" I usually don't mind elevators but I am afraid of heights, so the sensation of falling in roller coasters and water slides kill me. (Ironically I don't mind airplanes at all) Still in the building where I used t work there was only one elevator and 4 floors. Like I said I don't mind them, but one time the elevator slightly malfunctioned which made it "jump" in place. I worked on the 3rd floor so to get out of the elevator I had to open the doors with my own hands. To this day I am still scared of that thing!"
