Liam Hemsworth for Captain Marvel. He's got the height, and the boyish believability to lend credit to the kid they get to play Billy. And he AND the Rock together would sell major tickets!

I like this casting, but the writer/producer credits worries me a bit.

Campy and flop? I think Camp can be entertaining, when done well.

Why would they call him Black Marvel? He fights an opponent called Shazam. Even if they called him anything Marvel, for it to work, Billy would need a color. Red Marvel? Gold Marvel? White Marvel? All sounds a bit silly, really. Doesn't really roll off the tongue. Though, I do wonder why he's called Black Adam in the first place.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. Shazam needs the company to get behind him for him to catch on. Guys like Lantern, Superman, and Batman sell off their own names alone. Shazam, may not. Why prioritize something that doesn't need you, like a Batman film?

After seeing those two side-by-side, I can't believe I didn't think of John Cena as Shazam right away. He's had plenty of experience acting like a child, as his on-screen WWE character has tended to act pretty immature from time to time (i.e. poop jokes), he's been in movies before, and he's definitely looks the part (ridiculously large muscles).

You guys realize WB makes a lot of money, right? WB isn't struggling... they might not have a cbm franchise but still made the most money of any studio for several years. link

@ccraft: Agreed, WB is as rich as they come lol. I don't know why anyone would say otherwise, they have more comics than Marvel, just as popular if not more characters(bats and supes anyone?) ton of other line books Vertigo anyone? and kick butt with games, tv shows and animated movies easily number one in those categories. That's him Cena, yeah forget the movie but he was a one man hero. I can totally see him playing Shazam lol. I know some folks will be like "really, two wrestlers?" But considering how buff these characters are lol, not every mainstream actor will be able to pump up like Affleck and Cavill lol I but I agree, can't think of anyone else who would fit Billy/Shazam I mean. Billy they can just get some kid lol.

@ccraft: Agreed. Dark Knight, Watchmen and MOS I loved bigtime. IMO they're as good as any other comic book movie. I really enjoyed them, at first wasn't fond of this idea but now that rock is confirmed as BA I'm totally seeing this.

For awhile I've been listening to this song while looking at Black Adam pictures.

Great news about the Rock, it gives the film some instant interest from the general masses..

But Shazam is muscular almost as Black Adam so they will probably choose some bulked up actor.

What about Kellan Lutz as Shazam ? He definitely looks big, can almost certainly act as a manchild, IMO.
