Well, I'm just going to choose to disagree with the majority of this list but, seriously, SNYDER as best director?!? It's like everyone is taking crazy pills!

Glad to see Pacific Rim got the visual effects award.

Eh, Loki wasn't even a villain for the most part of Thor 2... But then again, still a better option than Malekith.

I saw Kick Ass 2 the other night. I kinda loved it. Apparently, I was the only one.

It's all subjective. Apparently enough people thought it was.

Though I wasn't a fan of MoS, I'm not surprised that it took so many awards. The battles were very kinetic and exciting, and Snyder is a director with a very distinct style that shows through consistantly in the film. Whether it was the RIGHT style for the character is a different debate.

Very happy to see Pacific Rim and Loki take home some big prizes. Two of my favorite flicks of the year.

I'm suprised that MOS won so much, I wasn't a massive fan of it tbh. I don't think Snyder should have won best director at all though, his use of the snap zoom was starting to give me a headache by the end of the film

I am kinda surprised Man of Steel won so many categories. Personally i voted it only for best Villian and Action Scene.

For man of steel to win in so many categories it was certainly voted by more than some "lovers".

how? how did MoS get best script? did everyone go and see Thor and Hobbit with ear plugs in? I expect less fanboyism next year people! I can understand most of the other results.

MOS winning best script award? Seriously? The script was one of the most lackluster and soulless lines this year. That's the award I'm most put out about it winning. The rest are to be expected really.

Not as much as pointing out the gaping and obvious flaws in MOS seems to hurt its supporters. People make one criticism of MOS and it's flooded with "Haters gonna hate" and "Another one of these threads" BS. When people are really noting its notable errors and massive problems. Hate on that as much as you want but for those who dislike MOS like myself, it's very apparent.

Was a great year... Man of Steel, Thor 2, The Wolverine. Can't wait for Cap 2 in 2014!

Kick Ass 2 was brilliant. I loved the heck out of that movie, almost more so than the first!

Funny yes, but I felt some of the pacing was off at key points, especially emotional moments. Still, Kick Ass 2 was my favourite comic book film of the year.

Only thing i disagree with here, is Zack being best director.

@lvenger: Direct me to some issues with MoS that others movies in the options did better on. I'd love to be proven wrong on something completely subjective.

While I really enjoyed Man of Steel I don't think it deserves to win Best Script (and by extension Best Movie). The script was just a complete and total mess. Poor pacing, poor structure, just completely amateurish on Goyer's part (Then again that is how I find most of his work). All his characters do is speak at each other, never to each other. They give big monologues but there are never real exchanges between them. People don't speak in speeches. It just created a huge disconnect for a lot of viewers.

He tried to copy his success of Batman Begins but it doesn't work with this movie. Put them side by side and they have almost the same progression. One of the biggest issues here is the flashbacks. Just like in Batman Begins he tries to use flashbacks to flesh out Clark as a character but here they are just hollow. They are poorly placed and don't have anywhere near as good as a mechanism to call to a flashback like Begins did, and they only ended up hurting the pacing and flow of the movie.

While I think that Guillermo Del Toro or Peter Jackson deserved to win for Best Director I can't deny that Snyder did a great job with the poor script he had.

I think that if any of the Man of Steel fights should have won for best fight, it's the Smallville fight. While I don't mind the destruction I think that Zod vs Superman was too grandiose and destructive for its own good. There was more depth to the Smallville fight the Zod v. Superman fight was just them throwing and hitting each other through things. The choreography and execution of the Smallville fight was simply better.

Kinda disagree with the Man of Steel script, I loved the movie, but seriously that line about him being kind of 'hot', was cringe worthy...

I watched Hobbit 2 yesterday, it was an amazing movie. I definitely would have voted for it in the polls for best visuals, best fight scene, and maybe...best movie. I voted a lot for MoS, which was also an amazing movie.

Glad to see MoS win so much in the face of all the fan-boy slamming it's received since release.

Because Thor's was non-existent and the Hobbit was just reading off from a book from 1912 with added action-padding?

Best script I suppose is a toss up between The Hobbit and MoS but I thought The Hobbit should win because I knew MoS would take most of the other categories.

No single movie blew me away this year. There were a few I enjoyed, some I did not.
