THE BOYS Concludes This November With Issue #72

It's the end of an era. Make sure you're there to see how it all ends.

THE BOYS has come a long way. Starting out at Wildstorm (before they completely merged with DC) and then continuing at Dynamite Entertainment, Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson have given us a world where they didn't have to hold back. Ennis had always planned for the series to be finite and sadly the day has come for the story to end.

The final issue will contain 24 pages of story, 5 pin-up pages of brand new art along with a complete cover gallery.

Here's what Garth Ennis had to say:

Seventy-two issues plus three minis adds up to ninety issues, making this a very busy six years - more than six years, of course, because we very nearly didn't make it. But all's well that ends well. I finished #72 well over a year before it's due to see print, and I've been missing Butcher and Hughie ever since. Goodbye, Boys. I doubt we'll see your like again.

Here's what Darick Robertson had to say:

The end of The Boys with this issue ends a chapter in my career I will always look back upon as a significant challenge I am proud of the work I've done on the book and will miss it.

The end begins with issue #70, on sale September 26, 2012.

It's been a fun and crazy ride. What's been your favorite moment?

Is that series any good?

NOOOOOOO! its preacher all over again. I hate it when a great series ends but it has too. otherwise it would not be a an amazing story as it is.

Its not for everyone... I personally love it, but there are plenty of people who would be turned off by the brutality of it

@thespideyguy: A 72-issue run is pretty impressive. It's had some rough patches but has been a good series overall. HEROGASM I didn't really care for though.

This was an amazing series as it's not your normal type of comic very funny, very crude plus the fact its one of the only comics about knocking down heroes (as why Wildstorm chucked it). I am happy also as it's had the same artist all the way through which helps. I will miss this series.

This post made me really really happy and really really sad at the same time

Its been a crazy series, sometimes similar to Preacher, but so unique...I'm gonna go cry now

Where do we go from here?

Will Hughie defeat Butcher? Will Butcher kill all the superheroes in the world? Now we find out once and for all.

The toilet cover rules, lol I just love that.

@Mizz_Coconut: Just wondering how are you happy and sad?

I may get back into this now that it is ending. I read the first 4 trades..maybe 5 then got really sick of it. but I have taken a few years off of it, maybe its time to revisit these characters.

Love The Boys!

What I found compelling in this last arc is the realization that the series, with all its gratuitous gore and sex and gross out comedy... turned out to have a much more complex story and turned out to be much more emotional that it first seemed.

The conversation between Hughie and Butcher, after reading issue #69... I actually found myself 'sad' that it had come down to where its at!

Posted by Mizz_Coconut

why would hughie and butcher be fighting?

and happy because it's coming out but sad because it's finishing

I think the social critic of superheroes and Ennis' ideas of what he thinks they'd act like are brilliant

Posted by The Toon Man

@Mizz_Coconut: Butcher's on the warpath, about to unleash a superhuman genocide. Mother's Milk, the Frenchman, and the Female have all been killed by him. Hughie is now the only person who can stop Butcher.

why did you kill my dog jack? ...... :( feeling so excited and horribly sad at the same time.

I just realized that this comic book has incest. The Seven are all test tube babies from the same genetic material...so they're all related in some way.B lack Noir Homelander and Queen Maeve, ugh. Even worse as Im writing is that I realize Stormfront .is the genetic father of Queen Maeve.

I believe it was :="why did you kill me dog". Followed by "This isn't me". :D
