Terminator Salvation at Comic-Con

Cue Terminator theme...

Okay funny thing when I was planning my Comic-Con schedule.  I knew on Saturday I needed to basically camp out in Hall H since HEROES and LOST would be there.  There was a slight lull afterwards but I noticed Terminator following LOST.  By just glancing at the schedule, I thought it was for the Sarah Connor Chronicles.  I was hesitant to go since I still haven't watched all the episodes (they're still on my dvr).  As I was waiting after LOST I looked again and saw it was Terminator Salvation.

Somehow a huge T-600 made it out on stage before the panel without my noticing it.  It wasn't until the theme music started playing that I saw it up there, eyes glowing, head moving slowly back and forth.

McG came out.  They're still in the middle of photography in New Mexico.  This movie will be looking to the future instead of simply being "Terminator 4."  It is a re-boot for the series but McG has spoken with James Cameron and Arnold.  Stan Winston was also involved before his death (the movie will be dedicated to him).  What about rumors that it will be PG-13?  Mc G has been given the studios blessing to make a rated R movie.  The movie comes first.  If it's a rated R movie, so be it.

We were treated with exclusive footage.  Almost like an extended trailer.  There is a lot of action in this movie.  If there was any doubt before, it could basically be put to rest after that.  The entire hall cheered after seeing it, even during it.  McG apologized that Christion Bale wouldn't be able to be there.  He's in Japan (promoting Dark Knight).  McG did call his cell phone but it went straight to voicemail.  He asked us to let Christian know what we thought of the footage.  You can imagine the cheers.

The cast was brought out.  Sam Worthington was asked what it was like filming scenes with Christian.  He said, "You better have your fuckin' game on.  He's the fuckin' Batman.  [This movie] is not for pansies.  It'll kick you in the balls."  If Sam Worthington's language or MrG's is any indication of the film, it will be as far from PG-13 as possible.

There will be new "hardware" in the film.  Along with the T-600s (the predecessors of Arnold's T-800) we will see transporters and harvestors (that try to take humans away).  Maybe it was just me, I got the teensey feeling that maybe Arnold could be making a tiny surprise cameo.  I could be completely wrong.

We will be seeing the beginning of Kyle Reese.  He appears as a younger version from the first movie.  We will see where he gets some of his moves.  Take a guess who teaches him some.  We also will be getting into the world of Skynet.   This movie is post-Judgement Day.  Bryce Dallas Howard mentioned that (since this is a re-boot) it's nice to be able to start over.  In Spider-Man, the franchise was already on-going and she had to jump in.  Bryce plays Kate Connor in the movie.  She will be doing some one armed shotgun cocking herself.

Actor/Rapper Common said he was grateful to be in a Terminator movie.  He feels it's all coming together into something special.  He's glad to have a "black man in a Terminator."  He also said, "It's gonna be fly."

One thing from the footage that I found interesting is when John meets Kyle.  He asks him "What day is it?  What year?  What happened?"  Why doesn't he know this?  I only watched T3 once in the theatre despite owning the dvd.  Maybe it's because he was in a bunker at the end.  Maybe he stayed there a while and lost track of time.  But he was in some wreckage and was talking on a radio.  A voice asks him how many survivors there were.  He replied, "One."  I'm assuming Kate Connor is the same as Claire Danes' character Kate Brewster?
