Dark Horse Press Release
::dudun dun dundun:: A few comic companies have had their hands on the Terminator franchise: Now, Malibu, Dark Horse and most recently Dynamite. If you've read any of them, you know most of them weren't the best reads in the world. Dark Horse and Dynamite seemed to have the best handle on the series of all the companies that have handled this franchise. However, in a recent press release, Dark Horse announced writer Zack Whedon, of Fringe, Dr. Horrible, and Deadwood, will be writing the new two-arc series consisting of three issues each. The series will be drawn by Andy MacDonald, of Punisher War Journal and NYC Mech, and all the covers will be done by Massimo Carnevale (the cover artist for Y: the Last Man).
This series hopes to get a little more in depth than other series in the past though:

Never before has the iconic character from James Cameron’s first Terminator film been explored with such depth and humanity.  Readers will have the opportunity to follow Kyle Reese and his closest allies as they face insurmountable odds in a world run by cold, calculating machines bent on destroying the last memory of what it means to be a human being.

In a world wrought with Hunter Killer Drones, T-600s, T-800s, H-K’s and a host of other terrifying technology, a small band of friends must find a way to keep the Resistance breathing amidst an eviscerated landscape devoid of nearly all life.  Kyle Reese, the father of the future, leads these rebels with only the slightest promise of peace and the most basic of mortal codes – never give up.

The series will launch March of 2010 from Dark Horse Comics.

The mythos that has become the Terminator Universe is something that has not been fully explored in the way it should be. It is an incredibly intriguing concept, and I believe this run with Dark Horse will be one of the better, if not the best, run with the franchise. Am I shooting myself in the foot with that statement? I sure hope not, but I have a lot of faith, not only in the franchise, but also with Dark Horse Comics. What do you guys think? Can Dark Horse give this comic franchise new life?
