Tension Rises in Schism #2 with the Return of the Sentinels & a Former Student

What will be the actual event that will cause the X-Men to be torn apart?

No Caption Provided

There might not be a whole lot going on in Prelude to Schism but looking at the images for Schism #2, we're getting more of an idea.

Schism is intended to be the event of the summer for the X-Men. It'll be interesting to see the reception this event will get when Fear Itself is still going on and Spider-Island will be happening as well. Fear Itself is meant to be the giant event involving all the Marvel Universe while this, and others, are meant to be smaller and more self-contained.

Schism will be written by Marvel Architect Jason Aaron and with art by Frank Cho. What we can see in these preview pages is Sentinels are attacking.

Sentinels? Really? This clearly can't be the big threat that is threatening to wipe out all Mutankind. How many times have the X-Men dealt with the Sentinels? There's got to be something else brewing. Wolverine and Cyclops will be banding the mutants on Utopia together to take on the threat head-on. The tension is boiling and one of them will go too far.

Easy money says it's Wolverine but maybe it will actually be Cyclops that causes the Schism. We should be finding out in July. And if all that wasn't enough, check out the last preview page below for the return of a certain character that is bound to cause more problems.

== TEASER ==

Schism #2 is on sale July 27, 2011 and will have a $3.99 price tag.

Quentin? It would make sense, he was never depowered but kept in stasis by Beast, and I hope they could explain what happen to him during the Messiah Complex ending when the mansion was destroyed.

He appeared in a short story in Nation X (miniseries) where Beast brought him over to Utopia.

@Timandm: True, i like the whole mind and body thing with her and Ernst (i don't even know what happened to HER), maybe in Morrison stayed around for a bit longer we might have seen something evolve with her but writers these days......>.>, it would be nice to see her with Quentin's powers but I'd like to see her with a female body(she's apparently quite pretty O.O)

Well, of all the body-less brains in the Marvel Universe, she probably IS the sexiest... LOL!

Yeah, I have to agree it'd be nicer to see her with a female body...Maybe with her powers mingled with Quetin's she could just....change...Like those dinosaur in Jurassic Park.  Regarding Ernst, I think she's a classic example of one writer starting a story that never gets told...  The last I recall seeing her, was in New X-Men 150 where Xorn/Magneto killed Jean...  Ernst was there... and then..............................................

Do you find it odd that she's alive (Martha) and kept in an aquarium bowl, in a world where cybernetic beings are becoming common?  What I mean is, why hasn't team science, or forge, or maddison Jefferies built her an android body?  In fact, it should be a cake walk for Jefferies who has had the 'Box' armor for years now; he can even merge with it.  Since his power enables him to basically make anything he can imagine (from plastic, metal, and..um.. what not) you'd think he could spare about five minutes to make her a body...

Pink Hair is definitely Quentin Quire... But is the African American girl Cipher?  I would LOVE to see her come back.  She was there during Young X-Men and then just...not...

Yeah I was thinking that the pink hair was Quentin also.  But I think the african girl is Idie from Gen Hope not Cipher.

Absolutely!  I can barely stand the whole Gen Hope group (including Hope herself).  But Laurie (and maybe Gabriel when he gets a bit more mature) is so sweet and would fit in perfectly with the New X-men crowd.

@Gold Dust Boi: Oh, you missunderstood what I said, I said that Cessily (Mercury) is far more interesting than any of the generation hope mutants and that I want her back to the spotlight (along with most of the academy-x kids).

Laurie and Kenji are the only ones from the five lights that I can stand (alongside Hope because I read her growing up during Cable's entire series) because at least they though a bit about their powers unlike the ice+fire super-original character, the mexican speedster (speedy gonzales... U.U) who wait, is not a speedster but instead makes time go faster for him... and the so original, increible well though... feral animalistic character...   (he is what, the number 289670987124 on the list?)

The last three can all die (I can see Sabretooth killing Teon when he returns as Teon seems to be developing a relationship with Wolverine, maybe Indie dies during Schism and Cohuelo could speed time so much that he becomes a corpse...), they are stealing the spotlight from the academy-x characters that are far more interesting than them.

I'm ok with Laurie and Kenji, but Laurie shouldn't replace Mercury (redhead with weird skin and a reactive body...) and this is what annoyed me about Laurie being there with Mercury friends...

@Lokheit: LOL OOPS my bad!  Yeah I agree that any of the New X-Kids are more interesting then anyone on the Five Lights but if I HAD to (gun-to-the-head) pick someone from Five Lights then I would pick Laurie.  Maybe Idie is a close second, she's very Rahne-like with her strict uber-religious upbringing, and I am looking forward to seeing a bit more of that, maybe even bringing Wolfsbane into the mix to help her deal with her conflicting morals.  Kenji is cool and all but I think I want a better definition of his powers.  Gabriel and Teon...LAME!  Yes speedsters (or even time distorters) and animal-like characters are WAY over done (especially if they are going to start bring back dead characters that are exactly the same like Feral).

I was thinking the same thing.  To add to that, is that an omega symbol on Mr Pink Hair's shirt?
Think so Omega level mutant I'm guessing with the Omega X....or Omega Chi, but that doesn't quite make sense.

When I heard who the villains were for this, between Kid Omega, Sentinels, and some little kid(Who seemingly came out of nowhere...)) being the new Black King of the Hellfire club...I'm really not certain. I feel more inclined to wait for the outcome then I'll inves some interest. Fear Itself: X-Men is okay thus far.

This event has gone to crap already... the fact that the big threat was Sentinels is really disappointing... I was expecting something much, much bigger.  Maybe there's more at play here than what I know, so hopefully, they surprise me somewhere.  Otherwise, this is just weak sauce.
