Surprise! Mark Waid and Chris Samnee Team Up for DAREDEVIL #1 in March 2014

Did you really think Marvel was ending the series?

When it was announced that the current DAREDEVIL series was ending, there were a few that got in an uproar. I think some tables might have been overturned as well. DAREDEVIL is a popular award-winning series. It's become evident that Marvel is currently relaunching volumes, sometimes with new creative teams, because it's the angle that is working for them in terms of the comic market. What everyone needs to keep in mind is the characters will continue to come to comic shops each month.

Marvel has announced that Daredevil will get a new All-New Marvel Now relaunch, beginning in March. They also announced that Mark Waid and Chris Samnee are still teaming up to take the series in a "bold" new direction - Daredevil is moving to The City by the Bay.

Spinning out of the groundbreaking new Infinite Comic series Daredevil: Road Warrior, Daredevil #1 marks a new start for Matt Murdock. Armed with an imperceptible radar sense and a passion for justice – the blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen is ready to make his mark on the Golden City’s streets. But, San Francisco local vigilante, The Shroud is already keeping the street safe – and he’s not ready to share the spotlight!

Big changes are in store for the Man Without Fear – as old haunts and familiar faces emerge ready to give the devil his due!

“Mark and Chris (along with Javier Rodriguez and Joe Caramagna) have made history on Daredevil over the past couple years,” said Senior Editor Stephen Wacker. “But their new plans for the Man Without Fear are their most exciting yet. This is a perfect place to jump on see what everyone is talking about.”

Every FIRST ISSUE bearing the All New Marvel NOW! branding includes a code for a free digital copy of that same comic on the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android devices. Once again, the biggest creators bring you the biggest characters in the biggest stories…and it’s happening NOW!

I have wanted to get this series for a while now. I know I've heard great things pretty much universally. Should I give it a try? I plan to start getting the graphic novels around Christmastime and hopefully start getting this when it comes out. Should I?

Always a little late to the party. I'll just copy the same thing I said in our members thread...

There was never any doubt that he would get an actual comic series again. Still think it's absolute B.S. that I have to get Daredevil: Road Warrior digitally if I want to read all of Matt's story. Not happy about the general direction they are taking the series either but I'll still be around for the ride.

Cause Why would Marvel give up one of their best long running series ? it's one of the best Daredevil runs and stands alongside the Bendis and Miller runs

agreed. and while i accept the fact that marvel is going to continually reboot series, you think they could wait more than 20 or 30 issues to do so.

@lcazt1996: Definitely. I've only read the first two volumes at this point, but I picked them up for the same reasons you listed and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest.

@owie: This. It's cases like Captain Marvel and Daredevil that really bother me. It's the same creative team, so there's no need to relaunch. Why not just give it the .1 treatment and let it move forward?

This book has been consistently amazing, and I'll take any dose of Daredevil I can get my grubby hands on.

I hate to see him leave NYC, but he thrives in any cityscape, should be fun!

Looks like it's launching the same time as the new Silver Surfer ongoing. I would love to grab both but student life means I can only add one more to my pull list, and I'll have to go with the Surfer.

Still will probably grab this in trade if I hear good things :)

@maddpanda531: It's because this way they can jack up the price a dollar and they can claim its because its a new book. Its for that "free" digital copy.

Oh well, we're living in strange times.

Volume 1 had 381 issues
Volume 2 had 133
Volume 3 had 34 or 35

How many will Vol. 4 have? 10?

Now an extra dollar more!

I feel I now can relate to smokers who have no choice to pay crazy amounts of cash to support their habits. And just as I have no sympathy for them, no one will have sympathy for us as we shell out money for our habits lol

So please, more number 1 issues of books that were already in publication, please give me more 4 dollar books, please I no longer care about value, and getting what I paid for as it only brings me misery and pain.

Ignorance is truly bliss hahaha

On a serious note, I am glad for this I have enjoyed this run of Daredevil a lot, the art fits the writing perfectly for this character

I am not too thrilled about this re-re-launch, but if it gets more Daredevil fans, so be it.

Posted by longbowhunter

I'm still in.

Posted by dreamfall31

Hoping it isn't 3.99 for the whole series, but the Daredevil fan in me will buy it either way!

Posted by atlas_the_giant

A different city means brand new villains?Or brand new girls?I want to read more of Kirsten McDuffie...

Edited by millennium

@dreamfall31: its 3.99 the price tag is on the cover for the march issue and its marvel where every book has to be 4 bucks

I am kinda torn with this news. I'm glad the series is still around and it being opened up for new readers because this is one of my absolute favourite books. But it's kinda of annoying that the series is getting renumbered. Sadly I don't think we'll see another marvel volume hit 50 issues again.

Edited by Maddpanda531

@kingdomenic: Ugh, are they seriously making this a $3.99 title? I guess the $2.99 title really is going extinct. Not that the price is really even the problem for me. I love both series and will, without a doubt continue to follow them. I honestly wouldn't mind if they upped the price, as long as they kept the numbering.

Posted by ArturoCalaKayVee

The death of the $2.99 comic grows ever quicker...

But now that it's relaunched, I suppose I can pick this up (damn, their marketing ploy worked on me)

Posted by Shallbecomeabattoo

Love to hear that they continue with the print version. Nice!

However, whats up with the trend at Marvel to put heroes into new cities? First Venom, then Kaine, then Frank Castle and now Daredevil? Not to say that its a bad thing. It worked well with Venom and Kaine and we haven't seen Punisher in L.A. yet (which sounds interesting), but to uproot a character like DD who is so important for his city is kinda weird. I mean, he always protected Hells Kitchen because it was his neighborhood. He even went as far as to outlaw any criminal activity in it and therefore drove up the crime rate in all other neighborhoods, back when he was Kingpin. On paper, him leaving the kitchen doesn't make a lick of sense. Its almostas weird as Batman leaving Gotham for another city.

Ihave faith in Waid, but it does seem odd,

L-A-M-E. Sorry but I'm not a fan of moving characters to new cities. Daredevil to San Fran? Hell's Kitchen is as much a part of Daredevil as his past experiences are. It's like Batman moving to Coast City! The renumbering gimick and increase in price put the nail in the coffin, I'm done with this now.

Thank god

@shallbecomeabattoo: It's probably to spread the MU out from New York. Realistically no villain would go near the place. The Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-men, Spider-man, Daredevil and a number of street-levelers yet not much seem to bother the other big cities...

Then why is digital still $4...I hate Marvel's pricing technique, least they have unlimited to balance it out.

thank sweet baby jesus, the end of this title almost ended my relationship with marvel after the canceling of scarlet spider and venom.

All new means 3.99

Posted by TheAmazingImmortalMan

I wasn't collecting Daredevil, but I wanted to just did nt knw where to jump on, if my pckets won't hurt from anther addition I'm on board for the new number one!!!

Posted by CaptainHoopla

I personally think this is a disappointing and, quite frankly, shady way of raising the price. A bitter part of me hopes the sales numbers tank on this.

I'll never understand the point of relaunching a series only 30 something issues in. But, I am glad it's not gone for good (didn't even know it was coming to an end to begin with).

And more heroes on the west coast seems like fun. Maybe we'll see a revival of the West Coast Avengers! :D (...or not)

I like how they didn't include the page count nor price on the solicite. Very sneaky. I'm tired of being overcharged.

Whatever, you guys can have Daredevil. I'v got Moon Knight to keep me company now.

Posted by iceslick

@g_man: I read the news yesterday from Newsarama. I've been pretty busy lately catching up on the stuff that I missed last week since I went to a one week cruise with no internet or TV access. But I am so glad this series and Moon Knight is coming back!!!! :-)

Yay 3.99$!!!!! Marvel greedy bastards -_-

I actually wanted a new creative team. I'm kindof getting tired of DD these last few issues.

I hadn't noticed the raise in price...that certainly explains it.

A new Ellis Moon Knight...that should be awesome.
