SUPERIOR IRON MAN Series and Avengers NOW! Initiative Announced

Find out who's behind Tony Stark's new direction and what Avengers NOW! is all about.

When Marvel announced Thor will be female, the publisher listed its big three as the God of Thunder, Captain America and Iron Man. Last night, a new Captain America was announced, so it was only logical that a big change would be heading to Tony Stark's world next. Announced via Entertainment Weekly, SUPERIOR IRON MAN will send the Avenger to San Francisco and he'll have an all-new armor. The series will begin in November and it's written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by Yildiray Cinar.

Axel Alonso, Marvel's Editor-in-Chief, shared additional info on Stark's new ongoing. “The newly-transformed Superior Iron Man has very ambitious plans for the city that some of its residents embrace, but not all.” Alonso also remarked on the title's name and whether it has any similarities to SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. “Like the Superior Spider-Man, Superior Iron Man is a character that’s hard to root for.” Over at Mashable, they have a few extra details on the plot. They say Tony is releasing a mobile app -- one that'll use a version of Extremis -- which will allegedly offer people "the promise of beauty, perfection... and possibly immortality."

Marvel also provided EW with an image promoting the Marvel NOW! initiative. According to site, all of the characters in the picture will begin to play a large role in the Marvel universe.

I like the New armor...Seems more futuristic...And of course Taylor would be much better than Gillen(Oh God...)My second Marvel favorite and beloved character after Hulk.

This new Iron Man looks horrible IMO.

I guess they HAD to relaunch Ironman comics again since they don't sell too well like the movies.

Agreed.

Actually, the first Iron Man movie was much better than the second and third one. =P

I actually found the first Ironman a bit boring, Iron Man 2 sucked. I actually liked Ironman 3 a lot even though fans hated it because of the Mandarin thing.

I never followed Iron Man so I don't have an opinion. I already have an irrational distaste for the character so this makes no difference to me except hopefully we will see Matt go up against him in some way since they are living in the same city.

Unless, of course, Daredevil comes back to Hell's Kitchen where he belongs. If Iron Man being in San Fran makes this happen, then my thoughts on the character would change dramatically.

Tom Taylor is writing? I'm already sold. Considering how well he writes for DC, I will be interested to see how he does both on Marvel, and with Tony. When it comes to writing misguided heroes, like his Injustice Superman, Taylor does it the best out of anybody I have ever read.

The art looks slick as well.

Tom Taylor.

So is he "type-casted" or is it just me? Every book he has written is about heroes with controversial decisions.

I see where you're coming from.

I will pass on iRonMan. Going back to reading only X-titles where the movies and general public do not have much of a say. Cyclops was right, and now I don't have to worry about feeling bad rooting against Thor
