Storm Joins the Avengers

The mutant goddess is finally becoming one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

More news from New York Comic Con. Despite Storm agreeing to side with Cyclops after X-Men: Schism, it looks like she's joining the Avengers.

No Caption Provided

Starting in January's Avenger #19, written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Daniel Acuña, the mutant goddess will have to juggle her time between the X-Men and Avengers. When will she find time to spend with her husband? Actually, when was the last time they actually spent any time together?

Erm, shouldn't Storm as Queen of Wakanda have one basic duty- waiting around to get pregnant and give her husband and Wakanda an heir?

@AgeofHurricane: I just started reading Storm's adventures with Psylocke and Vamp Jubilee. Uncanny X-men is the best IMO, Although there are so many characters to cover.

@Blood1991: Youch. You must have been burned bad having your characters get owned. Speaking of Bendis' treachery,  I heard a rumor that he might be going over to write for an x-men title. Let's all get in a circle and pray this is just a rumor. I don't want anyone who isn't a capable writer going anywhere near the x-men.

The X-men is Marvel's bread and butter, and IMO their highest selling and most known property.I've had enough of Fractions Mediocrity..lets not take it a step up with Bendis lead  head...

@Iamlovewithin500: I think it could be better of course, but It could have been much MUCH worse. The fight was a good length and while I agree Roro should have owned that, she put up enough fight to make be content. Still I went in with low expectations lol.

@poisonfleur: It did but my fandom will survive as it always has lol it survived through the death and rebirth of Hawkeye and Cap, it survived through years of Storm background art and It will survive this. As for a Bendis X book I say let him have the Ultimate universe and keep him away from 616 all together. That man has become my mortal enemy for what he has done!

Storm is wasted in the Avengers, as I was certain she would be. Unfortunately, the same could be said of the Vision as well.

We have two new members on the team, a few issues of the book have come out already, and what is the purpose of these characters? They could be replaced by anyone and the story would remain the same. It's too bad.

When working with many characters, titles can run risk of quantity over quality. There are a lot of characters to do justice to. It's been shown that it's a hard job to juggle all and give them quality shine. IMO I'd rather focus on a medium sized group and do great story justice rather than be over saturated with characters. Even if having Storm in the background adds to her issue count, id still prefer her appearances to have more substance.

Maybe I am just reading the wrong books. So far I read: Sisterhood, Phoenix Endsong, Manifest Destiny, and next on my list is the Birth of Generation Hope & Second Coming. I don't mean to bash anything, because I loveeeee Uncanny X-men the best. But I miss the amount of panel time Storm had like in the earlier titles like X-treme X-men for example. Last I checked, the story focused around Cyclops and Emma, and mixed team members. And that's fine, I think Storm could fit better into the drama, life, and action of the story.

I also read more trade paperbacks. So I haven't read too much of the security recon yet, considering it's so new.

I like X-Men a lot more than Uncanny right now, and obth titles are waaay beeter than Avengers -__-. Gischler Storm is not as good as Claremont or Yost's but better than Gillens. I find that Gillen spends too much time on the antangonists than on the team and the interactions between them. It's early in the titl, so there room for Gillen to do better, but I think Gischler has equally good plots, well writtne characters and considerably more action.

Not exactly why you're reading those stories anyways (if you're looking for Storm appearances, i thought we were talking about Gillen's revamped Uncanny X-Men/), Endsong was the only event where she actually played a crucial role and she was done good justice. You don't expect her to appear everywhere, do you ? Not to mention, Sisterhood and Second Coming were both written by Matt Fraction, that was also during the same period where Storm was reduced to no more than mere cameos and background shot's, thankfully, Ellis is a fan and managed to use her over in Astonishing. Thing's changed for Storm and a lot of other X-Characters, granted, now she's doing a lot more bette rand is getting more recognition in the MU. Big thanks to Schism. She's leader of the Security Recon team written by Gischler and it;s absolutely GREAT, Second in Comman of Cyclops' Uncanny X-Men, set to appear in some upcoming F.F issues with T'Challa, a member of the Avengers (WHICH MEANS NOTHING CONSIDERING WHAT WE'VE ALL SEEN !!!!!!!!!! but still.) Rumoured to be featured in AvX other than just a supporting cast seeing as how she;s an A and an X. Things are looking quite good for her.

That's not exactly "Storm" so to speak, if you looked at the whole preview you'd see that this was just Captain America imagining how the actual battle would play out as he was in some sort of fake Danger Room with attack robots.

It was crap, she more or less did nothing. I mean, she did something, but then got blasted and then, got caught, and then...yeah, I'm not suprised though, I'm just glad Security Recon is still around.

@jhazzroucher: Nothing impressive about Storm in this issue. Bendis continued to wirte her annoyingly. She created a tornado and was shot a second later. She and Red Hulk both get blasted in this issue, but he at least got to thunderclap a whole slew of AIM bots/henchman...
