The last few episodes have been talky diplomatic ones which have literally put me to sleep so I'm looking forwards to an action heavy episode.

Hey guys, since you watch the show, I have a few questions i have been wondering that maybe u can help me with.
Ive only seen a few episodes but dig what i see, but have always wondered,
The clone wars was 3 years long, is each season one year? So is there only gonna be 3 seasons? Also, Durge(think that was his name) is he supposed to be in this show at some point? he was a big part of the original clone wars cartoon and comic books but i havent seen him in this series yet, (that i know of). Also they ever do anything from the comics or old cartoon series? Like they adapt any of there stories or is it all new stuff?

ha ha just stuff i was always curious about.

I keep misreading the title of this thread as 'Nightsabers'. xP

1. I don't believe the series moves in real time.  Sometimes several episodes will span only a single day, for example.
2. This might be the last season?  The ratings are still quite good for Cartoon Network and Lucas sees the show more like a half-hour commercial which increases the value of the entire Star Wars brand (thus worth a $1M subsidy to produce each episode on average)... so theoretically they could keep it going, but I believe some of the creative talent has already left and there are rumors of another / next project coming up.
3. I haven't watched the Genndy Clone Wars series in a long time (though I have it on DVD) so I don't really know / remember.  I believe they loosely take place around the same time with a few characters being in both (Dooku, Fisto, Grievous, etc) but- and I might be recalling wrong- but that series seemed to be less canonical than the current one.
4. It seems to be mostly new material.

I always "prefered" (so it isn't a "fact") to think the CW took 5 years.
I don't like all those calendars/timeline established by fans.
Even in the CW comics themselves (not counting the "timeline" presented at the end of each book) don't date the events of the war exactly. If I remember correctly they started like "One week after [X event from SW Episode 2]" "2 Months after..." "A year after..." then skipped suddenly to "3 Months BEFORE [X event from SW Episode 3]" etc..
Also 3 years is pretty short for all the events that took place during that time, be it for expanded universe characters like Quinlan Vos or Anakin becoming a Knight, etc..

Anyway to answer your question, yep it all takes place in that "3 year gap" (baaah..)
I see it like this, the immediate event of the war can be seen in the CW comics. (then they mostly focus on EU characters like Quinlan)
S1&2 of the 2D cartoon take place near the beginning,
then all this 3D cartoon (some episodes may happen during other times)
then Ahsoka should..disappear(?!), like run off, die... (I know..it's sad..I'm hoping she survives onto the mid-trilogies era to face Anakin/Vader's other apprentice from the Force Unleashed! :P)
then the 2D cartoon 3rd season should take place and lead in directly unto SW Episode 3!

Anyway, 'loving these previews!
This show is still gettin' better and better every time!
Can't wait to see the Republic Commandos making an appearance!

No the series isn't limited to 3 seasons. it does only span the clone wars, but like Mainline said sometimes multiple episodes span only a single battle or  incident. (That's how most Star Wars events we see end up classified in Universe)
Durge will not be in the series. He was decided to be kept for the comics and original series only. That's why they created that new Bounty Hunter, Cad Bane (who was Jango's main rival for the top spot.) an his crew, while they left the Mercenary/Bounty Hunter Durge out. Lucas wanted the Clone Wars expanded upon, and new areas brought to light, plus the more foes Obi-Wan and Anakin spent the Clone Wars fighting, the better scope it gives of their powers, and how he progressed so far  in such a short time. that's also why they don't retread the old ground of the comics, original series, or books. This is a new glimpse of it.

Thanks guys!! that really helps me out. Ya I liked durge, think he would be cool all 3d animated so would be sweet to see him in the series. But that Cad Bane guy rules, very "classic" star wars western themed. So im down with the switch. i have only seen a few episodes (its on after Avengers here in canada) but after avengers i usally go back to what i was doing, but i stay sometimes for clone wars. everything ive see has been great, just those things i have always wondered about, so that u all for clearing things up for me!

@eyz: ya i only said 3 years, because when episode 3 was coming out george lucus and producers said it was real time, the wars was 3 years. Its maybe changed since then but ya at the time it was officially 3 years.

Thanks again guys for the help!

I would like to see an episode taking place when Anakin is Darth Vader & he sends Starkiller to kill Asohka, or at least one where Anakin's dark side shows in a fight.

Personally, I wish there would be more tie in between the movies, the Clone Wars series and the books.  Gets kind of confusing after a while when you try and keep it all in together.

As for Ahsoka, there was mention of a Tagrota (or however the hell you spell it) female Jedi in the Coruscant Nights series that the main characters had attempted to get off Coruscant.  Never mentioned who, but Ahsoka was the first one to come to mind.
