'Star Wars: Rebels' Premiere and Schedule Announced

Find out when you can watch the next chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Here comes your next chance at taking a trip to a galaxy far, far away. Set in the time period between Episode III and IV, we'll get to see what happened as the Galactic Empire continued to build their power over the galaxy while a few brave souls worked to begin the Rebel Alliance.

The show begins in October on Disney XD but there is an opportunity to check it out in September. Disney and Lucasfilm has released the following informaiton:

Continuing the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga, an exciting animated one-hour movie "Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion" will be available first to verified users on WATCHDisneyXD.com and the WATCH Disney XD app beginning MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29. WATCH Disney XD allows consumers to watch on tablet, phones, computer and set top boxes.

The global television debut of "Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion" is set for FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT in the U.S.) on Disney Channels around the world, ushering in the series "Star Wars Rebels" beginning MONDAY, OCTOBER 13 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD. The series will air in 34 languages across 163 countries in over 400 million households.

The television movie garnered rave reviews at last month's San Diego Comic-Con fan event for its story (set between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV) and its look -- akin to the classic Star Wars trilogy. The series designs are influenced by the work of originalStar Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie.

The story unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy. Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people. The motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost -- cowboy Jedi Kanan, ace pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the"muscle" Zeb, warrior firebrand Sabine, and cantankerous old astromech droid Chopper -- is among a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, they will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

"Star Wars Rebels" is created by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sherlock Holmes), and Carrie Beck. The Lucasfilm Animation production is also executive-produced by Filoni and Kinberg as well as Greg Weisman (Gargoyles).

The talented voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus and Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor.

I know people are down on this show before it even comes out cause the trailers look "kiddy". So did the clone wars, then turns out to show really turned into something great. Can't judge the entire show before it comes out. They can't put all the darker more mature stuff in the trailers cause they lose their shock if we know hem before hand anyway.

@werst9: I agree. This will probably end up being a great all ages show when it's all said and done. It's set in a time period where there is potential for some very "dark" story lines, but it's cartoonish enough to not make it overly mature. This is one a parent could watch with his or her kids, and all of them could love it.

@tparks: @werst9: I also think some will immediately dismiss it without giving it a chance because it's on Disney XD. They're probably not thinking about Lucasfilm still being the ones behind this. At first I was a little unsure about a series based around characters unknown to us but that does open the door for more opportunities. I can't wait to check it out.

@g_man: Same thing happened with the Clone Wars because of Ashsoka being targeted so much towards a younger audience in the beginning, but that didn't stop that series from having a great all ages show. It was kid friendly enough that most ages could watch it, but the story lines were far from childish. I'm sure the same thing will happen with Rebels, and I am also stoked to check this out. :)

So not looking forward to this. I'm still gonna give it a shot but those shorts they've been releasing certainly haven't helped.

From what I've seen of it, I'll probably pass.

This kiddy Disney show sucks.Star Wars The Clone Wars suposed to have 8 full seasons but because of Disney runined everything Rebels is coming. As far as i can see on Rebels trailers, stormtroopers look and walk just like ducks, lightsaber duels are TERRIBLE,not to talk about Goofy animation and there are no politics nor serious dialogs like in TCW.Also i dislike that the whole show is focused only on one band of ''Heroes'' (kids) while TCW is focused on whole galaxy war and problems and life. This is going to be bad

I have high hopes for this series, from everything I've seen and read, I like the cast they've created for the show and look forward to seeing them spark the rebellion that we ultimately see in A New Hope. This is one period of the SWU that we rarely see so I'm excited to see where this series goes.
