As soon as it was revealed on Monday morning that The Walt Disney Corp had purchased Marvel Entertainment; the question on the minds of many was what kind of a reaction would we see from the Marvel man himself, Stan Lee. In an interview with Fox, Stan Lee defended the buyout, stating that while historically the content of the two companies clearly targeted different

audiences, that "at heart" they were very similar. At the end of the day it comes down to loving these characters, and both companies do that.

"Because the characters of the Hulk and the Silver Surfer and Bambi and so forth, they're characters that you have to care about," he said "And whether you're caring about an orphaned deer or you're caring about a big green monster who wishes he weren't a big green monster, it's the same thing. It's all characters that you remember and you're interested in."

There is a level of respect that these creators have for one another that stem back from when they first started their respective companies, and I think that it is important to understand that. At the end of the day, if Stan Lee is okay with the buyout of the company he started and the characters he created, then surely the fans really have nothing to worry about.
