Spooky Dormammu Bust

Crafted by the Sculptor Supreme...

 Welcome to my nightmare...

Dr. Strange’s extra-dimensional nemesis, Dormammu is getting his own 7-inch-tall bust. The malevolent sorcerer with the head-of-fire was sculpted by none other than Bowen’s Jeremy Lloyd and the figurine allows for some cool effects to those fans with an eye for lighting arrangement.

Thus spack Bowen’s head Randy Bowen…

"[The bust is] a synthesis of all the different versions of the character, hopefully creating a classic look… The entire head is cast in translucent/clear yellow resins. It picks up existing light, similar to the way that fiber-optics work. It does not store light like glow-in-the-dark paint, for example.  You'd need an existing light source to create the effect shown in the photos."

Look at that thing… that’s spooky with an all-caps S-P-O-O-K-Y. I don’t collect busts and figurines but, if I did, I don’t know if I’d want something so menacing perched atop my book shelf and greeting me every morning. It’s kind of like that DEATH OF CAPTAIN MARVEL figurine from a few years ago that was modeled after Michelangelo’s classic Pieta sculpture. Superheroes is fun and all, and I love Mar-Vell, but do I want to see a powerful space warrior succumbing to stomach cancer in the arms of Death personified every morning? Hey - - I’m a morbid guy, but even I have my limits.

Another thing, again, I can’t help commenting on is that Dormammu’s flaming head isn’t the most fantastical thing about this. What’s really fantastical is him being so jacked that his musculature’s popping out of the folds of that silk frock he’s got on. Man… I don’t think even Arnie could’ve pulled that off in his prime. I’m sure it probably breaks some laws of physics, but that’s wonderful fantasy of sculpture, no? Somehow, I just can’t picture Dormammu pumping iron in the Dark Dimension branch of Bally’s.

What do you think of this figure, oh extra-dimensional Comic Vine community? What other character else would you like to see get the 7-inch treatment?
