Sony Releases High-Resolution 'Amazing Spider-Man' Photos

Peter Parker will be taking a couple of hits in the upcoming movie!

Two weeks ago Entertainment Weekly gave us our first glimpse at Sony Pictures' next superhero movie (and one I know a lot of fans absolutely can't wait to see) The Amazing Spider-Man. Now, Sony has officially revealed the high resolution pictures straight from the movie set. If you didn't realize they were this pretty before, then you might just be convinced based on this new batch.

Not only does Sony give us another high res peek at actor Andrew Garfield's Spidey suit he'll be wearing in the film, but we also get a glimpse at actress Emma Stone (who plays Gwen Stacy) offering Peter Parker a helping hand. There are plenty more high resolution photos below, so be sure to check them out and let us know which is your favorite. The Amazing Spider-Man will be hitting theaters on July 3rd, 2012.

I like it! The only thing i'm not crazy about are the feet in the Spidey outfit. it just looks odd to me.

@TheDrifter: Emma Stone. I like her, but she would be a great Mary Jane...weird to see her playing Gwen Stacy.

As much as I want this movie to be good a part of me almost hopes it fails so much that MARVEL ends up retaining the rights down the road so they can make a proper Spider-Man movie.

how the hell do actors get ripped so quick i have been working out for almost a year and only very slightly have shown some muscle build.

Still don't like Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy though. I love her as an actress but I can't get past the blonde hair dye. Waiting for the show now...

Do we really need another freaking Spider-Man origin movie?  I mean, sure we haven't had a really proper origin story for Spider-Man, not comic wise at least.  But the people that are going to go see this movie already know the origin, and really don't need to spend a crap ton of money on seeing another one.  At what point do you not say, hey in the last ten years this same movie came out, and now I am going to pay more of my hard earned money to go see the same damn thing again.  Sure it's different actors, and a slightly different story, but this is kind of ridiculous.

Everyone time I see a new pic of even the trailer and looks more and more promising. I canNOT wait for this movie and Emma Stone being in it is only that much more awesome - she is a great actress!

Looks good, although what is up with that weird pose in that one pic. Reminds me of The Electric Company version of Spider-Man.

Aside from the fact the suit should have a regular belt I love the re-design and think it will fit well with the tone and style of the film. I also like the fact that Peter's character has been tweaked slightly from a straight nerd to somewhat more of a loner character.....a guy that stays in his shell and is noticeably effected by the disappearance of his parents. In the comic origin Peter didn't even remember his parent's so I think this is a good twist. I know alot of people are just going to slap the emo label on this depiction but I think its a good look at how being abandoned can affect a child's development. 
 
Like Captain America: First Avenger I also like the idea that the female lead (in this case Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy) has feelings for the hero before he actually gains any abilities/fame. This is a nice break from the traditional superhero movie romance and is one of the themes that I always enjoyed the Hulk and his long and often tragic romance with Betty Ross. Here's hoping that she isn't killed off by the end because I definitely think that tragedy is best saved for the sequel or even third film.
 
In the end I think this film will script wise be very strong with a strong ensemble of leads to carry their roles (Andrew is the underdog in that sense but his past stuff has been good) and this film will rise or fall based on its action sequences (i.e. relying tooooo heavily on CGI or mixing in traditional stunt work and practical effects) and the believability of the villain (though I think comic and non-comic viewers alike will enjoy the Lizard's origin over the Green Goblin's).

As part of their contractual terms, they are often given personal trainers and nutritional consultants to prepare them for certain roles. Plus, they can afford to do nothing but eat, workout and recover whereas normal people have to work, go to school, raise families and etc.

The picture of Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy actually sold me on the casting choices they made for this movie. Ah well, to each their own.

At first I thought the new Spidey costume looked wierd, however now I think it looks pretty cool. Plus I think Andrew Garfield will be awesome in the role.

The only problem I have with this film are the villains. While the Lizard is a pretty cool villain I guess, why on earth do we need Proto-Goblin? He's like the most obscure Spider-Man villain I've ever heard of.

Hopefully we'll have sequels where the villains get better.

Am I the only one who hates Spider-man's new look. Not the costume, that's okay. I mean the actor. He looks like a generic young actor. Peter Parker is supposed to be a nerd and uncool. Say what you will about Sam Raimi's Spider-man films, but at least his lead actor didn't look like he walked out of a Ambercrombie catalog.

@X-93: I agree completely. I can see a quick 10 minute recall to try and make this Spider-Man movie they're own, but if they play it out all over again, I think alotta fans will be pissed off... well, even more so since they're getting a whole new spider-man reboot when the movie's still fresh in their minds.

I honestly don't care about this film only because it's like going back to square one and doing all the stuff they could've done in terms of exploring the little things a little further. Otherwise it's the same basic film. Also Spider-Man isn't Batman so making things gritty and dark the way Batman Begins & The Dark Knight was isn't going to transfer over well for Peter Parker.

Despite the weird looking costume and the Mirror'sEdge scene in the trailer I am quite stoked for this movie.

I like the cast so far. I dont like "Basketball" suit. Looks tacky to me. I guess it is more hard wearing. And maybe this being really picky.... but all red portions of the suit look extremely dirty.

This suit has really grown on me since I first seen it, still not 100% on the mirror eye pices but I can live with that. Pretty exited for this film now, cant wait.
