Yeah. Sure. Like Red Star wasn't a Russian Teen Titan decades before Winter Soldier. He's more likely the Reverse of Winter Soldier. He's gonna be with us first, then with the Russians. Also no brainwashing, no metal arm, no cryogenics. That trumps the similarities (spy, Russia)

The fact that you don't think them both being former child sidekicks and both going the route of spy after a near-death are similarities completely negates your whole argument.

Fug it. I'll give 'em money. Rip-off or not, it's still pretty cool, and Dick is one of my favorite characters.

Complain with my mouth, submit with my wallet, that's the comic fan's way!

I was just going to read them but hey if licking comics is your thing....

@vaeternus new and inivative? This major thing happens in the future but some affects in current timeline is happening has been done to death in comics. But i'm actually looking forward to the event because the issues i've read of it so far have been pretty good but still the concept is not new it's been done to death while a villian taking over a heroes life has not. Might've been the occasional joke or one issue thing but as a major thing to happen to the character it's pretty new. DC might have better covers but what you don't bring up is most of the inside are is generic and the same crap you're getting frome every other DC artist Marvel gives us diversity in the art.

@staypuffed: true, I don't really like the over the top stuff like the 3d ones though. I don't think it justifies a price hike or all the price gouging on the secondary market. My biggest problem with covers these days is how false they are as a representation of what is in a comic, for the bigger publishers most covers don't even use the same artist as in the comic, it's false advertisement and confusing for new comic readers, I get customers on a semi-regular basis that pick books up cause of the cover art and then they get disappointed when they see the interiors, some even want their money back :/

So far a lot of people feel it's cool and enjoy the covers(I for one am an artist so I like it but i guess not for everyone) For the story, guess we all have our preferences but there's so much potential you can do with time travel or alternate realities if done right. Example, take Crisis stories. They were some of the best :)

Sure, time travel, alternate universes etc they've been done before by DC and Marvel etc but still beats killing a key character for the sake of sales imo. I'll take a cool story any day over that. Now if it's apart of the story(ie what happened to GA) then I'm fine with it. But also because I really am a big fan of time travel plus the introduction of Terry for the first time ever in the actual DC mainstream continuity has me excited

I don't exactly see this as the typical villians taking over or such, this is something created that's threatening everyone both villians and heroes alike in the future and whether or not the good guys can pull the trigger on killing a certain character.

As for art being generic, subjective. Art is something including myself as an artist seen differently and have different preferences. To you what one may seem crappy, to someone else may seem awesome and vice versa.

Like i said i'm looking for to the DC event what i was saying is that it's not new or inavitive. People always say killing off a character is just for sales boost. They advertize it for more sales but that doesn't make nothing more then an idea to boost sales. If that's the case why kill off any character ever because people will always say it's nothing more then a stunt or event to boost sales it can never be hey maybe they actually have this idea to kill this character (temporary kill because it is comics who sadly don't have the balls to keep a character dead) anyone whose read Superior and isn't an upset Parker fanboy who is scared of change in comics can tell you like it or not it was more then just a stunt to boost sales. It gave you an intresting premise, great character devolpment, compelling story etc.In your comment you say you would take a cool story over that but Superior was a cool story. But because Spider-Man died oh it's nothing more then a stunt like Forever Evil or Death of the Family.I blame most of the jump straight to stunt when a character dies on Death of Superman and pretty much death in comics being broken since then. Anyway i'm a fan of time travel to the DC event seems cool and i plan on continue readnig it if it keeps being intresting but it's not new or intresting.

Well that last part can be said about anything ever.

Well that last part can be said about anything ever.

Yeah, well I think to be fair these days it's hard to think of something "new" without it already being done at some point know what I mean? So it's harder to come up with newer ideas. But I think the killing off someone big is indeed to boost sales ever since it worked for Superman in the 90's but for someone like him, who rarely loses and introduced an original villian in Doomsday it worked. Now days we see so many look at Captain America, Spiderman, Batman, now Wolverine soon etc. I just feel if someone has to die have a good story instead of advertising "whoever will die soon, OMG!!!" ok...but why? lol

At any rate, some characters can die and nobody would care but when it's someone popular that's when people care or wonder why? I don't mind change here and there I just want a good story to make it make sense and not for a sales boost/publicity stunt. I mean look at some other things like DC making E2 GL gay, Wally black, Marvel having a hugely advertised Gay wedding....these are all to help sell the comics being "politically" correct. It's so obvious. But that's another case....I didnt mind past Spiderman stories when he's killed off but the recent event with Doc Oc in his mind was dumb imo. I didn't like it. Thing is with DOS that was planned and had a damn good story in it, wasn't just for "hmmm let's kill Supes to get sales" Superman will always be popular but between the story arch and Doomsday it was overall a great story. A lot of these "death" stories now seem to be more about publicity then anything else to me.

But as I said, I have no issues with killing someone off just HOW they're killed off and WHY being my issue. That's why I'd rather stick to DC right now cause of a lot of interesting things directions they're going.

I think it's definitely not new but totally interesting, since I like that stuff ;)

I guess, I mean we all have preferences right?

Oh yeah, WataMote was what it was called for short because the full title (No Matter How I Look at it, it's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular) is waaaay too long. They just stuck with WataMote for the Anime adaptation.

Haven't read it myself, but the adaptation is an absolute riot. Cracks me up so much!

Well alot of that i already went over in the last comment on how Superior was good and intresting and anything that against the norm ignorant people will accuse as nothing more then a stunt like DOF or Superior even though both were great. You're definatly right about that preference thing though because Marvel is killing it in comics lately way better then DC which can be told by having more in best of week and month and having better comic sales they're just putting out much better content but hey preferences.

All the things you named either were a good story or had a goo build up etc it is the same as doing it in the story but just because the company advertises it like they should because it's a business it's suddenly nothing more then a stunt. Sure the gay GL was just a stunt. But alot of the other weren't but because the company talked about it ahead of time the ignorant narrowminded people had to jump out and accuse it of nothing more then a stunt because they talked about it ahead of time like pretty much all comics but because this is contreversial or major it's nothing more then a stunt to them.

Yeah, I mean if it's apart of the story element I'm fine with it but the ones I don't like are the out of the blue 'let's kill this guy' lol like I feel they did with Spiderman recently and soon Wolverine for the sake of killing them. I'm not about that at all.

Eh, it depends last year DC killed Marvel especially with the Forever Evil arcs now it's more even but each month on here cv does the updates and it's always Batman at the top vs. Marvel Universe lol. Just shows how awesome one character is, though there are a lot of other good N52 books out there as well as some marvel too.

Don't get me wrong I dont mind if they put a black hero, minority, gay whatever I just dont like it when they do it for the sake of doing it lol. Know what I mean? Look at Simon Baz...at first people were like "ok an arabic GL" yet the character has hardly developed lol. Besides technically they already had two other minority GL's anyway, three if you count Kairo from BBU. He's asian. Kyle is part mexican, part irish and John is black so IMO I didn't think Simon was necessary to be honest. Scott Allan I thought was unnecessary since they killed his BF off in like the second issue or third(early on lol) and the Xmen thing despite if planned was definitely a publicity stunt, everywhere I saw, read when that was out the same picture of them getting married was everywhere...it's like DC is really pushing the minority gig(now with Wally being black) and Marvel with the Gay gig...but whatever, as long as the stories are cool I'm fine with it. I just hate it when they do it to try to "sell" more....

The comics right now guess it depends on what you like, I think it's around even now with DC and Marvel personally in the comic book world. In the movie world, Marvel was winning now I think DC is definitely catching up. TV and animated movies, DC easily is beating Marvel as well as in video games.
