We'll be starting at 10AM. Prepare for news updating every 5 minutes, or whenever the internet here lets me.
10:00AM: Here we go! Hey. We Can Be Heroes Campaign mention. Text HEROES to 80888 to donate. Panelists. The guy speeds through them. Dan Didio, Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Tony Daniel, Rachael (who doesn't have a card)
10:10: Talon! Issue zero on the screen. James talks about that he was in the audience last year. Calvin Rose is the name of the main character in this book. Scott says they asked if they had enough ideas for it, and he says James came up with the idea of an escape artist as the Talon. Scott loves the idea.
10:15: Phantom Stranger time. Dan Didio says we've seen the Phantom Stranger in the free comic book day book. He's part of the Trinity of Sin. What they've done in the zero issue is go back to the FCBD issue from Phantom Stranger's view, then come up to present day. The introduce a very familiar and very popular character in issue one. He doesn't say who. Phantom Stranger strikes a deal with Trigon in issue one, and Pandora comes into issue two.
10:15: Team 7. Dan says what's great about this wave is that it has new great creative teams, and with Team 7 you'll see Grifter, Black Canary, Deathstroke before they are who they are now, and other characters. We get to see some cover art. Looks good. No idea who drew it. Dan says Team 7 will be more fun than Phantom Stranger.
10:20: Amethyst! Sword of Sorcery zero issue. This book will be like All Star with a main story and a back up. Rachael says she's wanted to work on this for a while. She says it fills the high fantasy niche that DC currently doesn't have. Tony Daniel is doing the back up of Beowulf. He says he's more excited about Beowulf than any other book he's on. Tells a story about him getting down into a loin cloth and swung a sword around his head in high school. People called him Tonan the Barbarian. He seems very excited about his work in the book.
10:25: That's it? Wait... Dan on Sword of Sorcery. Christie Marx. Dan says she was the creator of Jem and headwriter on Conan show, and he says she's the perfect addition to this book. Question time... Why is Sword of Sorcery so dark? Rachael says she thinks the original book was pretty dark. But it won't be a gore fest.
Any plans for Superboy Prime? Dan says it's hard to say now. Grant Morrison is working on a multi-versity story which will eventually be out. There's no reason you won't see it. Dan says we're one year in and we don't want to go too deep too fast. When you bring in too many new characters you're right back to before new 52. Dan talks about Phantom Stranger a bit more. He says we'll get 75% of his origin, and half of it is based as old material. He wants the reader to sympathize with him. Will the old crew be in it? Dan says Doctor 13 will be in it and tie into All Star Western.
10:30: Stephanie Brown cosplayer gives credit to the DC people for bringing in new female writers, artists, and more books featuring female leads. Lots of applause. Is Stephanie being replaced with Barbara from the Smallville comic? She gets a legit answer, finally. Dan says it's because they wanted the most recognizable characters in the book first to reach the mainstream audience. They have a lot of faith in the series, but they want to focus on Smallville. Are the green, the red, and the rot connected to the white lanterns? Scott says they wanted to do things on their own in the books, but it is connected to other characters and elements, which starts in the next Swamp Thing book.
10:35: What do you think has been the greatest success in the new 52? Dan says Swamp Thing and Animal Man. He says that they couldn't get traction (pre-52). His greatest regret was not doing Batman & OMAC as a series and he thought about changing the "O" to Owls. A gentlemen without a placecard says he's very excited about the Talon series. Scott says he's happy about the fans and it's a huge thrill to see a diverse audience. Where's the Question? Dan doesn't really answer... He avoids it. Will there be a Talon and Nightwing crossover? James says there is nothing set in stone. All the Talons have roots in Haley's Circus, and it's something he wants to explore. James says it's a safe bet.
10:40: Dan says Justice League 12 is going to be very important in the DCU. Question about Talon crossing over into other books. James says he's going to be on his own for a while.
10:45: If Team 7 will tell the origins of skinny Amanda Waller. Dan says it takes place 3 years prior to current continuity. The character from Suicide Squad is the character from Team 7. Does James Gordon still exist? Scott says Gail has stories about him for Batgirl. It's very dark. Anymore villain heavy titles coming out? There's something in the works but they aren't saying it seems. Scott says Batman is pretty much going to be a Joker book soon. How are you guys going to make Talon non-Azrael like? Scott says he and James like that character and they want to keep it as separate as possible. There's a bend in the book that makes it completely original.
10:55: The moderator says this is the best question section ever from any of their panels... Agreed. Is Captain Atom come back to Justice League? Rachael says it's been an interesting book to do. He's going to continue to be around the DCU but he has to figure out to deal with his power, and the JL is afraid of him. Sounds like a maybe. More Tim Drake other than Teen Titans? Scott says you'll see alot of him in Teen Titans 0 and he'll be a big part of the Joker story. Guy asks what to tell his customers about his new books. Phantom Stranger has deep ties to the DCU. Talon reveals a bunch of stuff from the Court of Owls. Sword of Sorcery has a Hunger Games and Game of Thrones feel. Team 7 is going to explore origins (especially Black Canary) and ties into current day books.
10:55: Sharing a video time.... We Can Be Heroes campaign video. Well guys... See you at the OGN panel! Bye bye!
