Scott Snyder Teases BATMAN ETERNAL Image

Check out Jason Fabok's art in an image with "lots of clues."

We have to wait for more information on BATMAN ETERNAL but today, on Twitter, Scott Snyder teased with a piece of art by Jason Fabok.

No Caption Provided

Scott's tweet:

Ok! Some seriously easter-egg heavy (turkey day) BATMAN ETERNAL art by @JasonFabok! Lots of clues in this one!

How many clues can you find? What's up with those bones? Notice the robin on Titus? Does that owl in the tree mean more of the Court of Owls? Who's sitting next to Tim? (We can assume the person in the purple hoodie is Stephanie Brown). Still no sign of Dick Grayson...

Whose behind Red Hood in far left? (James Gordon Jr???)

Is That The Fortress of Solitude in the background?

Theres an Owl in the tree, but we see no Talon

Whose the blond guy in the mask next to Red Robin?

Jason Todds back....With the Zero Year Red Hood

Somethings in the bowl next to Batman

Why are some of them sitting

Whys there a ball

Whats Proffesor Pyg holding. They're not Knives O.o

AND WHY WHAT IS ALFRED DOING TO THAT POOR INNOCENT TURKEY O>O

Professor Pyg is holding a set of toy trains.

I thought the ice in the background was a reference to Mr. Freeze, but that is probably too obvious.

Yep that Jason Todd is back, but that isn't the Zero Year Red Hood. That is Tiger Shark from Snyders detective comics run.

It isn't Gordon Jr. in the far right as the man in the far right is a black man. Lucius Fox maybe? but why with Tiger Shark?

What i want to know is who are the two women inbetween Batwing and Catwoman. Who are the two men with Tiger Shark?

Why is Alfred wearing a strait Jacket?

I think it's Erin McKillen from the current Two-Face arc in the Batman & ... book.

I'm not so sure about Dick dyeing his hair and becoming a new hero unless he "dies". Think about it. A hero is outed, then a new one comes along, and we don't see the original hero anymore. Who can't put 2 and 2 together and figure that out? Kind of a cop out.

I am really looking forward to this title but in comparison with this artwork ^ Jason Fabok's art in this article is kinda disappointing.

I'm having a real tough time getting excited about Batman releases since DiDio's slap in the face to J.H. Williams and W. Haden Blackman. My parody account is almost unneeded at this point: DC trolls itself and its consumers well enough.

My theory: The blonde guy behind Red Robin IS Dick Grayson. He had to dye his hair and change his identity after the Crime Syndicate revealed his identity to the world in Forever Evil. Maybe he even went into hiding or at least left Chicago. Which I really hope, I would like to see Nightwing back in Gotham or maybe for them to reintroduce Bludhaven.

Penguin and Professor Pyg standing with eachother MIGHT have something to do with Arkham War but I can't say for sure.

One of the 2 mystery girl between Catwoman and Batwing might be Vicki Vale but I have no idea for the rest.

I'm also thinking the white-haired man in the back might be a Maroni or a Falcone, bringing the mobs back into Batman's story.

The owl in the tree is obviously a reference to the Court of Owls, but I don't think they're gonna play a big role in Batman: Eternal, at least not till way later. I think DC and the writers want to cement the idea that the Court is always there and always watching O.O. THEY EVEN WATCH YOUR THANKSGIVING!!!

Everything else is either obvious, has been explained already or alludes me. But I'm really looking forward to Batman: Eternal. From the pictures I've seen, and the news of Steph Brown's return, I'm thinking this series is going to be very 'Bat-Family' heavy, and the title 'Eternal' refers to Batman's legacy. And I would love a Bat-Family oriented book!

From Newsarama

BATMAN Editor Answers 10 Questions About the ETERNAL Thanksgiving Teaser

If the purpose of a teaser is to get people talking, then DC Comics certainly succeeded with the Jason Fabok-drawn teaser for Batman Eternal, their new weekly series. Debuting in the still nebulous “Spring 2014,” the series promises to touch all corners of Gotham and its many costumed inhabitants.

Speculation reigned supreme with the teaser’s debut, as fans dissected every piece of the image bit by bit. For some more information on the teaser, we asked DC Comics if we could see what we might pry from Batman group editor Mike Marts about it. While Marts’ lips were, as expected, relatively sealed, we did get some bits out of him.

Newsarama: Mike, there's a conspicuous glint Batwoman’s right ring finger. Engagement rings are worn on the left in North America (though there is a movement among gay couples to wear it on their right hand as a call for equal rights). What can you say bout the glint and Batwoman's role in Eternal more broadly?

Mike Marts: The glint on Batwoman's hand isn't a mistake in the coloring… all I can really say at this point is that not everything that appears to be shiny is necessarily shiny. Expect some bumps on the road ahead.

Nrama: There is a robin perched on Damian’s dog Titus. Will Titus succeed Damian as a canine Robin, or should readers be looking for an alternative meaning to that image?

Marts: Wow — is that a Robin there perched on top of Titus? I hadn't noticed!

Nrama: We’re worried about your observation skills, Mike.

James Tynion told us on Twitter that we haven't met the woman at the head of the table (and that she's not Tam Fox). Anything you can say about that here and is there anyone else in the image we have not met yet?

Marts: The woman at the head of the table will definitely play an important role in Batman Eternal. And James is right — she's NOT related to Lucius. Though she might be related to — ah, I better shut my mouth.

Nrama: Blondie next to Tim Drake – a post-Forever Evil/new ID Dick Grayson, or Calvin Rose, or Harper's brother lead the speculation pack. Can you add anything to the mix?

Marts: No comment.

Nrama: Follow-up: There are obviously characters you might expect who are not in the image – if that's not a blonde Grayson, then him chief among them. Carrie Kelley’s also conspicuously missing, not to mention Bat-Cow! How much should people be looking for who and what are NOT there?

Marts: The simple answer is that if someone is noticeably absent there's probably a reason for their omission.

Nrama: The bones at the front of the image. There seem to be at least four sets of remains - possibly as many as six skulls. Are these deaths that have already occurred, or deaths that are being foreshadowed? What bones can you make of the bones?

Marts: Yes and yes. The bones are significant. Good catch!

Nrama: So both. Interesting. There is also some background imagery that stands out, particularly the rose bush on the left and ivy growing up the house on the right. Do these have any significance or are they just scenery?

Marts: Readers should play close attention to the foliage in Gotham — no matter the season!

Nrama: Detective Bullock sure seems to be arresting/leading a detained Commissioner Gordon in handcuffs here. Professor Pyg is holding model trains. A pot full of bandages makes us think of Hush. And of course an owl overlooks everything. Does any one of these images stand out to you has being something fans should focus on?

Marts: Gordon is definitely a central figure to the core storyline of the Weekly. And without being too vague (I hope!), any and all elements on this art piece could be potential clues to future storylines! (Okay, I guess that was pretty vague…)

Nrama: The floating icy object in the background. Fans are speculating it is either the Iceberg Lounge or something to do with Mr. Freeze. And why is it so far away, off in the distance? Can you share any insight on that one?

Marts: It's a location Batman readers have seen previously.

Nrama: Finally, Batgirl's gaze - she's either looking very hard at Batwing, Catwoman, or the reader - and she's not the only one who is possibly looking at us, with Joker's daughter as well. How much of people's lines of sight plays into the story, and how much is merely from the source painting?

Marts: Lines of sight do play an important part in this image. Pay attention to who's looking at who!

@anthonyhillman: look dude there she is not a bad character she just hasn't been given the chance to shine by a good writer. If she is given a good writer, some cool stuff to do, and a natural reason to be in the stories instead of being shoehorned in I'm sure she can be a great character.

OH and character development

The thing in the background is Penguins iceberg place

Also i think the two sitting next to Tim is Cassie and Stephanie

I sure hope the bones dont represent Damien and Dick.

It could very well be Talon. Nobody has mentioned him yet and he does fit the blonde hair and mask look.

It is definitely Harper though. Along with the streak of colour in her hair she also has a pierced nose.

@cameron83: My theory is that there's no good reason to call her a member of the Bat-Family based on her crime fighting history with Batman, as she wasn't raised or trained by him, and hasn't had many significant interactions with him, so DC wants to make them literally family, in order to be able to consider her one of them. Making her one of the family means she can be put into more crossovers, meaning temporary sales boosts now and again. Only a theory though.

@citizenbane: The wealth comes from her dad having married into the Hamilton family sometime after he was widowed though(Edit: Sometime after Kate was thrown out of the army and before she met Batman). I don't think there's been any indication that they were always rich, to a level that she could be considered an heiress. I was quite willing to accept that they could be distantly related, as obviously the Kanes and Waynes were two of the first families of Gotham, but I haven't seen any clues to suggest that they could be so closely related until now.

@sawcesome: I think he would change his look after forever Evil, because technically Dick Grayson is dead in the since that he's spiritually dead. Dick is gone in a since, but he is going by a new name and has a new look, not 100% sure though.

Wouldn't she have to be

I think they're cousins. With Phillip Kane being her uncle, I think that would make him Jacobs brother. I think Phillip was Martha Kane/Waynes brother, so that would make Kate and Bruce first cousins. Maybe it's a looser connection somehow, but they're close enough that she knows him and Alfred, so maybe cousins of some kind anyway.

Does she know who he is?

@patrat18: in Chicago. Batman Eternal is mainly focusing on Gotham and Dick is out of Gotham. He should still be a part of the Bat-family but he shouldnt have to be constantly linked to Batman and Gotham. I think it is a tease that DC is doing now that they have outed him, but if they really are going to kill Nightwing it would be an incredible terrible decision. His book sells well, it has high quality writing and art, and is one of the most iconic characters that DC has, if DC and Didio look at that and still decide to terminate him, DC would lose whatever fanbase it has left after all the crap they pull

I thought the girl next to Steph was Cassandra, but as someone mentioned she has the streak in her hair so it's Harper. Ugh. And why bring Batwoman into this series when she has as much to do with Bruce as Jessica Drew has to do with Peter Parker? Finally, the woman standing next to Scarlett from G.I. Joe looks like someone familiar, but I can't place her.

Sadly, DC are shoehorning in a stupid, rushed, not originally planned reason why there's a link between the two of them. I won't spoil it for you, but it's revealed in Batwoman #25, and can be seen in the preview for that issue.

Wait,so....she's his cousin or something,now?
