Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver OFFICIALLY Cast in 'Avengers 2'

Yay!! I hope this movie will be breaking a lot of Box Office records!! Big $$$$!!!

Yes yes yes yes. Not only are these two excellent characters who deserve more mainstream attention, they are going to be played by great actors. Especially Elizabeth Olsen. She is just delightful.

This is going to drive me mutant crazy. He's in two movies, two different actors, and both were in the first Kick-Ass Movie. Did Quicksilver suddenly become popular or something? Who made the announcement first I'm wondering?

I have some weird issue with Aaron Taylor-Johnson...I don't know what it is, but something about him bugs me. Decent enough actor though.

I'm excited to see how they manage Wanda and Pietro in Avengers 2 without the whole mutant thing or referencing their father.

As hilarious as I find it that we're getting Quicksilver in two different movies, a year apart, in different universes, played by two actors who previously starred in a superhero movie before... I was disappointed to see this made official. I know this casting has been rumored for ages, but I had been hoping that the reason this movie hadn't announced casting for Quicksilver, and Days of Future Past hasn't announced casting for Scarlet Witch, was that they were going to surprise us by having the be the same actors and merging universes. I knew that was incredibly unlikely, but it was a theory I was excited about. I mean, one movie is all about time travel, the other is at least named for a story arc that had so much time travel it broke the universe, so I figured it might have been a master plan to merge them. Oh, well. Great casting anyway. I'm just disappointed that they've now pretty much thrown away any chance of a merged universe in the future. We can still hope for Spidey, I guess.

I saw Olsen basically confirm this on the Daily Show a little bit back. I hope Taylor-Johnson comes at this with a different voice than he uses in Kick-Ass, that voice annoyed me so much and it doesn't fit Pietro. Here's hoping.

I really don't care for their involvement in the movie.Both characters are pretty boring for me and I can't be excited for such news as long as Hank Pym is still not set to appear in the movie.

Not that excited but it's not any bad news by any means.

I really don't like this. When I think of these characters, I think of two things:

1. They're mutants

2. They're the offspring of Magneto

If neither of these things will be true for Avengers 2, then in my opinion it's going too far from the source material. Still, I can't write it off before I've seen more, and this has oddly made me interested in seeing what they'll do with the characters for the film.

Awesome this great! Great to see Scarlet Witch finally making head way, now I don't have to be bothered by Black Widow anymore. Now add in Vision and it will double in awesome. As to the lack of mutant connection I can live with that. Mutant aspect always did belong to the X-men mytho's anyway, easiest explanation would be they gained their powers being descendants of the Eternals.

More than anything, I am surprised with the fact they're using such young actors for the roles. Not complaining, just totally unexpected.

Never too fond when studios cast actors who have played other heroes or superheroes or villains from other comic book movies, though. Yes I know Chris Evans pulled off the Captain American role despite having been Human Torch but overall it is just annoying to me.

Why not cast an unknown and save some money?

Yay but Whedon really needs to put Eliza Dushku and Nathan Fillion in something again

Add Falcon and Vision to the roster then you'll have a big team to face Thanos in Avengers 3.

Siiick!! i'm a fan of both of these actors & i think they'd do alright for these characters. And i'm glad they're on the younger side too, i really didnt want to see a middle-age Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch in their first (marvel) movie. All they need is Falcon & Vision, then i'd be good with the roster!

So.... are they saying there will be two different Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch ?? or are they the same actors and actress that will be playing for Avengers 2 and Xmen DoFP?

The fact that there's more hate on Quicksilver makes it hilarious. It's so easy for me to point out the DC fanboys crying over the fact that Quicksilver is headed to the big-screen before The Flash.

Look at it this way - who knew people actually cared Quicksilver and his backstory? Right, nobody (well at least not as much people as there currently is). This Quicksilver hate is just like people pretending to be Mandarin fans, Hank Pym fans, Ultron fans, etc...

I hope they're the Avengers characters, and not the Ultimates. Grim dull Hawkeye was bad enough.

Also, worth remembering Magneto wasn't revealed as their father for about 20 years after they joined the Avengers. I don't have a problem with that being missing.

Elizabeth Olsen should be great, Aaron Johnson is one of my least favorite people appearing in movies now.

You know that he has a European accent, right? He'll probably use his accent for Pietro since QS is European.

More than likely, they'll be introduced as Inhumans.

Wasn't Wanda supposed to be... i don't know, more ethnically diverse? I'll see the movie and I'll probably love it. But I'm not so sure about this whitewashed casting. Whatever.

Both Wanda and Pietro are off European descent. Wanda is diverse because she was raised by gypsies and what not, but that isn't really genetic. If they include some of their gypsy heritage into the movie, then that would be great too.

that's a lot of members for a 2 hour movie.

I'd have preferred Hank and Jan.

I don't get how people are surprised or worried about additions to The Avengers... I mean I love Cap, Stark, Thor, Hulk, Widow and Hawkeye, but I don't think I'd be able to put up with them by themselves for 3 movies... Heck people want a Justice League film to start off with the original 7 and act like that's not a problem, so it shouldn't be a problem if Avengers has that many members as well.

Fox is shooting themselves in the foot not casting the same kid as Quicksilver. They need to ride those coat-tails and make those greenbacks.

Agree on serious Hawkeye being a total snore, but I think the Eurotrashy, snobbish ultimate versions of the twins would be pretty fun!

My hunch is that they're going to be Inhumans born to a certain individual whom shall be continuously mentioned in the movie but never revealing his identity due to certain events of the past to protect them from their teammates.

They can be Inhumans if Marvel wants them to be... But I'd rather have their background kept a secret if Magneto or mutants in general isn't involved. The comics dodged their backstory for 15 years (64-79)... I'm sure they can avoid it for one, two or three movies.

This has potential to kick ass.
