Robot Chicken DC Comics Special Review

Robot Chicken and DC Comics. What more really needs to be said?

In case you've forgotten, the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special airs this Sunday, September 9 at midnight (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. If you haven't already, you can see the trailer and AQUAMAN variant cover that was released last month here.

Last week Cartoon Network sent over a screener and I immediately had a huge smile on my face. With the show about to air this weekend, I figured now was the best time to write about it.

You've probably seen Robot Chicken before or at least I hope you have. Seth Green and Matthew Senreich deliver an episode dedicated solely to the DC Comics characters. Following the tradition of the show, none of the characters are safe. They all get the Robot Chicken treatment. Which means they will all totally get made fun of.

It's not just a bunch of quick and easy laughs. There are those but there is also an underlying story. We all know Aquaman is the butt of many jokes and that plays a big role here. How much can one person take? How will the taunts affect his behavior? It might not be what you'd expect. Even if you can figure out what's going to happen, seeing it play out on screen is a blast.

The special also takes other easy targets to poke fun at. Batman getting his back broke as well as Superman's super kiss (from Superman: The Movie). If that wasn't enough, they even spotlight characters people wouldn't think were real (like Mr. Banjo).

There really isn't much more to say about the special. It was great. I laughed. Of course I will watch this episode again (and again). The humor is what you'd expect. We get to see the familiar characters in surprising and often inappropriate situations. There are parts that are so wrong, you can't help but laugh.

Some of the voice talent appearing in this episode include Seth Green, Neil Patrick Harris, Alfred Molina, Nathan Fillion, Megan Fox, Breckin Meyers and many more. Do yourself a favor, make sure you watch or DVR the episode this Sunday. You won't want to miss it.
