Rob Liefeld To Bring BLOODSTRIKE To Hollywood

The comic creator wants to bring one of his very own, creator owned properties to the big screen.

Those of us who watched X- Men Origins: Wolverine might recall having seen actor Ryan Reynolds play Deadpool. You might also recall that shortly after the release of Origins, rumors began to circulate that Reynolds would be reprising the role of Deadpool for the big screen in his own movie, and that none other than Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld would be involved in the development of the proposed film. Unfortunately, those rumors never seemed to have amounted to much, and we are still without a Deadpool movie. But Rob Liefeld hasn't given up on bringing his creator owned properties to Hollywood, at least not yet.

Sources are saying and Liefeld has confirmed that he has taken BLOODSTRIKE to Hollywood and will produce a film based on his series. BLOODSTRIKE is a series created by Liefeld about a top secret organization made up of dead mercenaries who were brought back to life as part of "Project: Born Again." The series was first published by IMAGE back in 1993 and featured ex-Youngblood member Cabbot Stone as the leader of the team. According to Variety, however, the film adaptation of BLOODSTRIKE will be a little bit different from the concepts we saw in the comics. The film will feature "an elite group of super-soldiers who have vampire blood." Sounds trendy, right? To be fair, though, this description doesn't deviate too much from the original characteristics of the Bloodstrike characters: they are super powered, they are dead and they are all members of a secret organization. The just happen to want to suck your blood, too.

In addition to Liefeld having signed on to produce the film, Variety has also reported that Adi Shankar's 1984 Private Defense Contractors has acquired the film's movie rights. Based on the little we know, Rob wants to make this movie a violent one. The creator took to Twitter to reveal that he wants this movie to be "R-rated." Sound like something you're interested in? Take to the comments to let us know whether or not you were a fan of BLOODSTRIKE and whether this is something you are looking forward to seeing on the big screen.

This was actually one of the worse Liefeld books during his early Image run. Not only were many of the characters blatant copies of Marvel characters, but half-a$$ versions. If anyone is desperate enough to but the rights to this turd who knows what else we may see.

Why Bloodstrike? Why not Brigade or Youngblood?

Um........................ Nope.

....i wonder if everyone will always have Liefeld faces in the movie.

....will they edit out hands and feet whenever possible to maintain authenticity to Liefelds work?

...will the CGI budget be enough to cover what its going to cost to make all the womens spines defy gravity?

these are my questions as i vomit at the idea of giving ROB FURUCKING LIEFELD more fame...

Sometimes I wish I worked at the comic book store so that when someone comes in and buys a Liefeld book i could point at them and laugh hysterically.

@Haganz: I am new to comics so when I first read the post I thought the pic was just one Liefeld did of the X-Men. After reading many of the funny comments about committing suicide because Liefeld is so terrible. Turns out that isn't Wolverine. Come on Haganz. Your telling me that isn't a blatant rip off. Seriously? Cool he is a different character with different powers. So that means it is ok to steal and be unoriginal. Dude that is Wolverine & Cable.

Whooop-dee-doo!

Hopefully it bombs.

I join the legion of other users in saying I thought it was Wolverine when I saw the pic. Still do.

I'm honestly pretty surprised that there hasn't been a lawsuit to date over the likeness of that character to Wolverine.

Nothing will came out of it... I am sure of it.

The budget for the special effects alone is going to be astronomical when they have to CG all the weapons at impossible angles in everyone's hands and inhuman bodily proportions. Not to mention editing out all the hands and feet. I mean if they want it to be true to the source material...

At first I thought I would be interested by the name but then I saw what it was. Yeah....... no.

Liefeld is pure evil, a f*cking angel of death for comics - first the has one second away from destroying the entire industry in the 90s, now he trying to ruin comic-movie industry, which is at the highest height ever.. please GO AWAY LIEFELD GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wolverine's in another movie? Oh...

I don't think this is a good idea, at all.

Posted by Havenless80

He should cast Dolph Lundgren and Jean Claude Van Damme to play the dead soldiers brought back to life. Plus they need a catchy title...something like Universal Soldier. Oh wait....didn't they already do this movie in the 90s?

Rob Liefeld is a terrible artist, and probably a terrible writer.

All I see in the above photo is red Wolverine, ponytail Cable, purple Dazzler, brunette amputee Spiral (four arms instead of six) Bushman ass Bushman, and the silhouette (based off of this photo)v

is none other than Iron Monger with Iron eyebrows. I may be stretching some of these comparisons a bit but really that would be a crazy team up especially if they were all zombie vampire special agents.

The Feet! So much FAIL

Love the Liefeld hate. He doesn't have as much talent as you guys but yet you guys are on a message board & he has been continually getting paid. Nice.

If you look further into this comic, you'll find that there's also a character who he flat out stole Grifter's mask for:

I see this ending hilariously.

I can bet my two lungs this is going to be directed by Michael Bay, Rob Liefeld's lost twin.

we just have the decency not to show ur non-existing talents in drawing/writing to the world unlike your boy Rob

with that said, i believe 9 outta 10 comicvine users is more talented than Liefeld

This is fantastic news. I couldn't care less about the film, but it should keep Liefeld from ruining another comic for a while.

I demand more pouches and screwed up feet/lack of feet!

I think it's more likely that 9 out of 10 comic vine users have loser jobs and wish they can be in the same field as Liefeld.

You can all finally stop bitching now. You got your #1 wish. Rob Liefeld is leaving DC Comics. Rejoice, rejoice, now please. Anyone who even utters his name now will be mentally killed off with a pencil. His very name pisses me off now.

If done right this will be a great movie Characters dealing with the horror of dying oweing there current half-life to a government who treats them like property moral and ethical dillemmas. It has great potential of being a great action movie and great conversation of the morals of reanimateing the dead.

Posted by dondasch

In order to maintain continuity, I assume there will be CG drawn pouches on every character, as well as a lack of hands and feet.

Posted by LordRequiem

Sounds a bit silly to me and his mask is too Wolverine.

Posted by rasx

So this is gonna be like UNIVERSAL SOLDIER with Vampires. I'll wait on the pirate DVD to come out to watch this.

Whatever guys, you know Rob's the best artist of the last 30 years. I mean, c'mon............who needs proportion and scale and feet being on the right side as well as hands.........

He's been able to bully his way around the industry for far too long, let Hollywood chew him up and flatulate him out now. Can't wait for this to spiral down into absolutely nothing and read his next Tweet about how he's a pompous d-bag......

Posted by Batking200

this sucks

Posted by 7DEADPOOL7

He should just focus on the deadpool movie only because that is the only good character i am for sure he created that was any good

I know this is old, but I just have to say:

What to you qualifies as a "loser job"? What do you do? It seems that those who give people crap about their jobs are always either teenagers with no job or college/university students who seem to think they're the first generation to feel like they got it all figured out and can fix the world one day. And I'm saying that as a college student.

Anyway, he isn't paid because he's talented. He has connections and some diehard fans from the 90s. Yes, some probably wish they were in the comics industry. So what? They still have every right to be pissed. I've seen DeviantArt people with more talent than Rob, but they won't make it, yet he did for whatever reason. It's not the only reason they hate him, it just amplifies the existing hate. Jim Lee is much more popular than Liefeld, but he is one of the the industry's most beloved artists. Good artists get love from those same people who hate on Rob, so just being jealous doesn't lead to hate, rewarding those who half-ass their work does.
