Doctor Caligan (a new villain?) has some plans for a young high school student, and the Teen Titans work together to stop some enraged citizens.
The Good
Honestly, I never ever thought about picking this book up before, but when I saw JT Krul was writing it, it seemed like a good idea. Well, it was a good idea, since this issue was a lot of fun. I laughed out loud when I saw the villain Doctor Caligan, although I don't think I was supposed to. He looks like a mixture of a ninja and a KKK member who got his robes mixed in with the colored laundry. Anyway, it's still a lot of fun, and it seems Krul has a good grasp of the characters in this issue, at least the ones I follow. I love Nicola Scott's pencils on this book. It's clear, precise, and has a friendly feel to it, much like the rest of the book. I'm excited to see where this book goes, especially since Damian popped in the end, and this new creative team is already dynamite. Lastly, this is the first time I've picked up any DC book with Beast Boy in it, and actually liked the character. I always found him a bit lame, but all-in-all, I really loved him in this issue.
The Bad
I know it's called "Teen Titans," but there is so much angst in here. There's a lot of "who's in love with who" in the issue, but I know that's what I'm getting when I open up this book. I'm also not the biggest Ravager fan. It's just Slade Wilson with a ponytail trying not to be Slade Wilson, but she always ends up being exactly like her father.
Verdict 4/5 - Recommended
Perfect Starting Point!
The Teen Titans live in a giant upper-case "T." Anyone else find this ridiculous? Between this and the new JSA, you've got two insanely strong team books at DC with all new creative teams on them. With the addition of Damian "Robin" Wayne to the team, this is going to be one great book.
Oh my god its so good to have a decent writer back on this title! Teen Titans was the series that got me hooked on DC. Felica Henderson's run was horrible, but I loved the first issue for this new creative team. Add that to the fact Rose Wilson's back and Damian has been added and you've got a hell of an issue this month. Loved Nicola Scott's work on Secret Six. Having her on this book is like seeing an old friend again. Cant wait for next month's issue.
Seconded. Generation Lost is so much better than the main JLA book it's not even funny. I wasn't particularly familiar with any of the characters, I never read Justice League International, but I'm loving the book. A strong premise, great humour, an unpredictable story and compelling characters who behave and interact in a believable way make it a must-read.
Back to Teen Titans, I couldn't be happier to see that Nicola Scott's talent isn't going to waste on a sub-par book. I was sad that she left Secret Six and more than a little worried, because TT hasn't been good in ages. Thankfully, it looks like DC may finally have found a decent creative team. The line-up is pretty much my ideal roster (well, I'd always welcome a little more Miss Martian, but poor Megan has a lot to deal with these days...).

totally dude Generation Lost rocks! I'm pumped for Teen Titans to get good again...
"Am I the only person who DOESN'T like Nicola Scott's art?"
Yes.

"So, wait Static and Blie Beetle is out of the team??? Ohhh. Blue Beetle is the only reason I started reading this series. "
Well there's always Generation Lost. Honestly, I've got more faith in a Giffen Winnick team up than I do in Krul (who does some good stuff but doesn't know Beast Boy at all) so the book's likely to be better on a regular basis than TT. Besides, Jaime didn't really fit with the other Titans and McKeever and Henderson always wrote him to seem like a huge tool without half the charisma the character had in his own book or that he has over in Booster Gold and JLI. Static, I don't have a strong opinion on but I'm very glad Blue Beetle left the team.
Btw, this issue doesn't try to call Beast Boy and Raven teens does it? I'd really hate for them to both get deaged 3 or 4 years just to fit with the name.

Gar could still be 19, he was the youngest out of the NTT core. And Raven was deaged when she recieved a new body, but thats ages ago now.
Anyways I am happy with the first of Krul's issues and hope they continue in the same direction.
