The battle for the eye continues as a super-powered Wolverine battles Agamotto in the light dimension.
The Good
There is some great and a bit trippy artwork in the light dimension by Stuart Immonen (pencils), Wade Von Grawbadger (ink), Laura Martin, and Rain Beredo (colors). This was the most entertaining aspect of the issue. I'm usually not the biggest fan of the mystical aspects of comics, but this was a pretty cool issue with a lot of fun fight scenes. Aside from that, I wasn't too excited about this book though. It was just "okay," and it was a quick read.
The Bad
It's one of my least favorite cover trends... "Someone on this cover will die!" (It's Wolverine... j/k) I think the cover would have been fine on it's own without the giant block lettering on the bottom. And yes, someone does die, and it's a bummer to me. As of right now, this is my least favorite of the on-going Avengers books, but it has the most potential. Nothing really grabbed me here, other than the light dimension art.
The Verdict 3.5 - Borrow
Jump in on the next issue because a new storyline will be starting, and it's most likely going to be all mystical related stories. It should be pretty good, but as for this issue, you're really not missing too much other than the death of a character.
OK, one guess was 'Mockingbird' (wasn't Hawkeye and Mockingbird canceled or something?) but you said 'his' so I'm guessing Doctor Voodoo. Didn't he have a solo series that was canceled earlier this year after 5 issues? Yeah. He's the one I was hoping for actually and they pretty much alluded to it last issue.
Give you a hint, this character had his own title canceled before it was even half a year old.
Yea, I thought it was a waste of my time. First off, how does Wolverine outrank the Sorcerer Supreme? Yea, I know they gave a convenient reason in issue #5 but it was for a lack of a better word, "LAME!!!!"
Painfully obvious that Strange is going to get back on his high horse and be a regular contributor to the Avengers. Magic as a first arc for street level characters is...different.
I say borrow this issue and save your coin for more deserving book.
" I've actually enjoyed this. I did read #1-5 in a row, so that probably helped. I'll definitely check this one out to see the end of the arc. I hope Doctor Voodoo dies. Let Stephen become the Sorcerer Supreme again. That would be very interesting. I would sort of expect Voodoo to die as well to be honest judging by the last couple issues. "
Voodoo rocks! let him be, Strange should be his teacher "
Alright....but I still want Strange to be SS once again.
As far as one dying, can someone put it in "spoilers"?
I mean it's not like it's Uncle Ben who's kicking the bucket or anything, and these things usually only last a year or 2 before they're brought back to life again.
My good money is on Doctor Voodoo. Doc Strange will be in the upcoming Illuminati story line in the "main" Avengers title and the rest of the folks on the cover except Doctor Voodoo all appear in solicits for the next few months.
