More of Jailbait's history is revealed, and Max Damage goes on a rampage to save her from Deathgiver and the Diamond Gang.
The Good
The writing and art are both solid, just not together (see below). I love the teamwork between Louis, Max, and Jailbait. Brains/Common Sense meets Brawn meets Teen Angst Filled Girl in a Tight Outfit. I love the character of Max Damage more than anything else. He's a total tough guy and not afraid to show it. Normally, the tough guy routine bored me to death, but here, it works. The one thing I really like is the panel composition. It's simple, and it doesn't over complicate the book.
The Bad
I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I really enjoy the story, the writing, and the art, but not all together. Waid's writing and Domingues' art do not fit too well together. His art is a little too cartoony for my liking, and does not fit too well with Waid's writing style on this one. I think Domingues would work very well on a more light-hearted story, or something down right hilarious, but it's just not doing it for me here. Because of this problem, I felt the issue suffered. I'm slowly losing interest in this story also, which sucks because it started off amazing, and was a perfect companion to Irredeemable.
The Verdict: 3/5
As much as I complain about the art in this book, I really do like it, especially after a second read through, but if you plan on picking up this book, remember that the style is not as complimentary to the writing as the first four issues were. I liked the book, but it wasn't as great as that first run. Buy it if you're enjoying the run, but I wouldn't recommend starting here.
