Deadpool continues his team-up with the Secret Avengers, but decides to do things "his way" which Steve Rogers doesn't agree with. Also, Doctor Bong is hilarious.
The Good
I laughed, I laughed some more, and I felt fulfilled. It's no secret that I find Deadpool annoying. He's Wolverine for this decade, but don't let that get you down: This book is the most entertaining read Marvel has to offer. I almost took pictures of frames I laughed out loud at to show you how funny this book is, but then I quickly realized this review would be nothing more than random panels. Daniel Way is by far, and I know I've said this before, the best writer for Deadpool, hands down. Aside from the jokes, the story is really enjoyable, and there are some great fight scenes in here, and also, Doctor Bong!
The Bad
A couple times I noticed that Steve Rogers did not have a forehead. His eyes went right up to his hairline. That's my only problem.
The Verdict: 4.5/5
It's the most enjoyable book I've read from Marvel, since the last issue of Deadpool came out. I know Deadpool is everywhere, and a chunk of the books he's in range from bland to "no thanks," but don't let that get you down because this book is the complete opposite. If you're looking from a break from 50-issue story-arcs and ultra-serious story lines that seemingly take the fun out of comics, then this is the perfect comic for you. Highly Recommended.
It would've been better if the American flag background was rotated so it looked like the stars were coming from Deadpool's wounded swimsuit area in the classic cartoon symbol for pain.
"I like Deadpool... But hating on Deadpool is the new cool thing around comic book message boards, and I want to be cool too... I can't decide! Ok so I'm going to pick up the book, but then pretend to come here and say I hate it! Win - win! :) "
whenever something gets too popular then it isn't cool anymore. so if hating Deadpool is the popular thing to do, you'd have to like him to be cool.
" that's just like Captain Rogers to kick a guy in the balls when their back is to him "
Reference to this. "
Can you believe that the guy who drew this had no idea Deadpool kicked Captain America in the balls until after he drew this? Check out his deviant art page, he says so himself.
@TheguywhothinkshesDeadpool: Was Kelly the writer on the book when Deadpool had his first on-going series. If so, I think that was the best written DP. I was just writing this to some else that I hope they X-Force starts making him the bad ass again. When DP was getting work out of Hell House every time he walked in the other assassins cringed because DP was (crazy as hell but also) just a down right BAD ASS. He was very very intelligent, which he still is, but in more of a Pick Panther Inspector Cluseu kind of way. Getting things done out of luck or chance with the occasional very good Merc. But if Kelly is the writer you're talking about I still remember the day I picked up the 1st 5 issue trade and read the back. I knew DP from X-Force where he was fierce fighter, but the back of the book said something like, "His whole body is burned, he's hated, he's annoying and he's a mercenary. He won't hesitate to slice you up and talk trash while doing. This is not your Daddy's super hero" I read that and was sold. Then in the first issue he fights Sasquach and does something stop a nuclear explosn. He was set up by Landau, Luckman, and Lake to become a hero but the dialogue between DP and the rep from LLandL is classic. Standing in the doorway and saying something like "You set me up and Im here now. Realize that the gasp of air you just took is your last breath of air" sounded like something Clint Eastwood would say. Then going "Me a hero, you guys are all smoking crack" is just great. It was just as funny as what Way is doing with the exception of DP being feared. The dialogue with DP and Blind al was hysterical. That's the only thing Way needs to do in my opinion. Make DP tough again and he'll be liked even more. Way writes great. His humor is awsome and I don't see much difference between the humor of the writers just how bad DP is. He's being down written cuz of this. I hope X-force changes this, cuz the film with out a doubt will, but who knows when that comes out. thanks for letting me ramble on while drunk.
This issue ( combined with the previous one if you will ) is by far way better than the recent Deadpool issues. I still am not 100% fond of Daniel Way's Deadpool ( and so far still prefer the more true-to-his-roots Deadpool that Rick Remender seems to be giving us ), but it was very nice to see Deadpool get a bit more down to it and kick some butt. I hope this arc 'll continue this way.
