According to a report coming from TheWrap, Selma director Ava DuVernay is being "courted" to direct one of Marvel's upcoming diverse superhero films. According to the site, the two movies she's being eyed for are Black Panther and Captain Marvel. Black Panther will hit theaters in July, 2018, prior to Captain Marvel so the guess is that's the film she'd be directing.

This news surfaced the same day the ACLU asked state and federal agencies to investigate Hollywood hiring practices, as the ACLU alleged gender discrimination in hiring female directors. There has yet to be a female director for any of Marvel Studio's films, although Patty Jenkins was originally hired to direct Thor: Dark World, before leaving and citing "creative differences."

Marvel has yet to confirm or deny any reports about DuVernay at this time. We'll keep you updated as more develops.
