Red Skull Will Be The Villain In The First Avenger: Captain America

This makes the most sense.

We finally starting to find out more about The First Avenger: Captain America.  According to SuperheroHype, Ryan Rotten at ShockTillYouDrop attended a press conference with Joe Johnston for The Wolfman.  Johnston confirmed that the Red Skull will be the villain that Captain America will have to fight.

Later Johnston told Rotten:

"Virtually the entire story except the bookends are in World War II because we all recognize we have one chance to tell the origin story of how he became Captain America, you can't tell a modern story and then go back and tell the origin story. If you're going to do it, let's do it. Let's do it first. Everyone wanted to tell an origin story. There was a version where it was a modern story and it didn't work."

Red Skull makes the most sense.  Who else deserves to be the main villain in a Captain America movie?  I wonder what he'll look like.  Will he just have a mask on?  Will they use CGI for his face?

In other Cap related news, apparently Ryan McPartlin (Captain Awesome in CHUCK) told Moviehole that he auditioned for the role of Steve Rogers.  I haven't seen him in CHUCK so I have no idea if he's right for the role.  Also, I'm sure there's going to be a ton of other actors auditioning to be Captain America.  Hopefully, for his sake, he didn't jinx it by telling people.

Who should play Captain America?  In our podcast, artist Darick Robertson suggested Matt Damon.  Who should play Red Skull?  I'd have to say someone comfortable having their face covered.

More Cap Updates:

Latino Review mentioned some other movie updates from the press conference.  Johnston said the movie will film in HD and not 3-D since that can be added in post.  No idea if it'll be released in 3-D or not.  Filming will be mostly in the UK since most of the movie takes place in Europe.

What does Johnston say about casting?  They are looking for a complete unknown for the lead.

I hope it'll be somebody that we discover and has never been, has probably been in something, but you won't know who he is. You won't recognize him. And we'll surround him with more prominent names. That's who we're looking for. Will we find him? I don't know. It's tough.

They're aiming to have casting complete by March 1st.
