Question of the Week RESULTS: Favorite SDCC 2014 Big Announcement

The glorious and chaotic event called San Diego Comic-Con has passed. Of course, the Comic Vine staff was there to make sure we'd provide you, our oh-so-loyal readers, with all of the big news, interviews, and so much more. Now that the event has come and gone, we're all left thinking about the biggest announcements that came out of the sunny city. We each have our favorites, of course, but this week, we wanted to know what you loved about this year's SDCC news. The Comic Vine crowd had two days to pick a winner and one of the options blew away the competition. According to the voters, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Hall H presentation was the most memorable thing to come out of San Diego Comic-Con.

No Caption Provided

The Warner Bros presentation in Hall H was very short, but, as shown by the results, they made very good use of their time. Director Zack Snyder finally revealed what Gal Gadot looks like in Wonder Woman's costume and then they showed a brief teaser that felt very inspired by Frank Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot also showed up, but they didn't talk about the movie and just popped in to wave to fans and even take a picture with Chis Harwick. It wasn't on the poll, but a second picture of Ben Affleck as Batman was also released during the busy event. It's a little bit of a bummer we didn't hear anything about the DC Cinematic Universe beyond the 2016 movie (especially since Justice League has been confirmed and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been teasing his role so much!), but this was still a great way to build the hype for the upcoming movie. Now, let's take a look at the poll's results.

Some of the "other" votes went to the Deadpool test footage, Mad Max, the Fight Club comic, and Godzilla 2 news. Let's see what the community had to say about the poll's choices.

BigL

"Arrow season 3 for me. I loved season 2 and am really hyped for the show to return and introduce new characters."

LyraFay

"Wonder Woman/Batman v Superman teaser. I can still hear the Zimmer score!"

No Caption Provided

Rev_Sulphur

"New Star Wars comics for me. I am a fan of the movies (Yes all of them) and I always wanted to collect some of the comics but had no idea were to jump on or what was canon or not. So with these new series announced it feels like the New 52 and I am excited for it."

Chaos Burn

"I was going to vote Avengers, but then I remember the Mike Tyson stuff actually had me laughing out loud, so it wins."

No Caption Provided

So, what was YOUR favorite piece of news to come out of this year's SDCC? Tell the world why you're excited about it below! Have a great idea for a future edition of the Question of the Week? If so, feel free to share it below or via Twitter.

Why did this become a DC vs Marvel situation? I don't understand how people think these two companies are competing with each other in the film side of things. They accomodate each other date release wise, and every successful film is a win for both since it keeps the interest high in each of their consumer bases.

I do think the revelation of Wonder Woman's outift and the small tidbit with Superman and Batman deserved to garner the most attention. This film is going to be a big deal and it should be. Marvel is well underway with their cinematic universe so their reveals are simply par for the course.

I am surprised Antman's film wasn't part of the poll, as others have mentioned.

@i3io_hazard: WHy do you fanboys care how much it makes at the box office? that's the worst argument any fan of moviee, game, comic, music can make

"uhh it might suck, btu at least it will make lotta munny, hyuck hyuck"

it's like are you seeing any of that money? lol it's the dumbest argument ever.

Umm ok, I was only bringing up box office in response to another users posts, and for the record box office doesn't mean shit to me. Transformers is a big example but box office is the main thing people care about and the main thing the studio cares about. The point I'm trying to make is that Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are such popular and iconic heroes that there names alone will bring in the dough

But hey what am I doing, you clearly already have a dislike for the movie and want it to fail so badly, so I don't even know what I'm doing trying to have a conversation with you since you clearly already have a mindset set in stone.

@i3io_hazard: I hope it does cross the billion dollar mark. I want DC to succeed so eventually they will branch out more with lesser known characters like Marvel, and won't keep rebooting their universe and starting from scratch.

@i3io_hazard: Well Iron Man 3 and Avengers made more money that Man of Steel and were more talked about. With Marvels track record and momentum I honestly don't know if BvS will be bigger than Avengers.

I don't know which movie will be bigger either, but what I do know is that BvS received alot more buzz (good or bad, it doesn't matter) than Avengers did, and the movie is still 2 years away.

Honestly BVS could be a completely average movie and it will still cross a billion dollars at the box office if not more

@i3io_hazard: THen tell me why Avengers was a better and more received film than Dark Knight rises was? they came out thee same year.

Iron Man 3 was better and more recieved than Man of Steel. and Marvel's bad movies were alot better and more received than green Lantern was.

Look BVS will make bank at the box office, most likley more than anything Marvel puts out that year and maybe JUST maybe even more than Star Wars VII

but it won't be a better film than any of them. You're not gonna sell me that a bland Henry cavill, a skinny wonder woman, and a buttchin affleck and many many other heroes packed into one movie with no build up and led by hack snyder is going to be better than any other block buster these next 2 years.

and for the record im aDC comics guy, that is why im so hard on anything Warner Bros churns out in theaters.

i want them to do well, but im just calling a spade, a spade.

and as far as these polls go, it's all off hype and popularity which you alluded to, has nothing to do with whter or not BVS ill be good or not.

I think you along with many others are just trolling others who don't like BVS but deep down you all know, regardless of how mcuh it makes at thebox office you know it's going to flop as a quality movie. THis isn't Nolan directing , this is Zack Snyder..just in case you didn't know that.

Bwahaha you had to write that whole paragraph just to rage, tldr man. The fact still remains that you are angry that Batman v Superman is receiving more attention than the movie you like. I can't tell you if BVS is going to be good or not because I haven't seen it, so stop saying a bunch of random shit, yes you don't like Zach Snyder/BvS/DC Movies, I get it. But some people are really hyped for the movie. You 're just going to have to get this through your head and deal with it.

The question was choose your favorite results, not what is more popular or icnoic.

You're brilliant and well thought out refute of "IT"S FREAKIN BATMAN SUPERMAN AND WONDERWOMAN." doesn't prove a point nor refute mine at all.

It's okay though, I know once Avengers: AoU footage hits, everyone will change their minds. no biggie. it's typical of comic fans to change their minds constantly.

You're just mad because Batman v Superman will be bigger than Avengers or anything else Marvel tries to push out, it's quite sad actually.

We'll from what I've seen the media is talking more about Age of Ultron than BvS. As a matter of fact their not talking about BvS their talking about Wonder Woman. Everyone who's not talking about Wonder Woman is talking about Batman, and everyone else has forgotten Superman is in this since Bats has hijacked the franchise. And mind you most of the so called "buzz" is from DC fans who for some reason feel the need to try to rub it into Marvels face. I hope BvS turns out great, because honestly DC can't afford another Man of Steel film.

I'm really into Reminder's creator owned stuff and very much enjoy Deadly Class and Black Science. Black Science is high adventure action scifi and Deadly Class is high school drama with a lot of violence. I find Deadly Class very relatable despite that it revolves around a school of assassins. Southern Bastards might be my current favorite image title, it's obvious how well the creative team on SB meld together, it's a true collaboration. Saga is astounding too, it's such a bizarre visual spectacle but still handles human problems in a believable way. I'm excited about Wytches starting soon too, Jock is one of my favorites. I also liked the first two issues of Wicked + Divine enough to keep it on my pull. The Manhattan Projects is out of this world science fiction that is a lot of fun, especially since all the characters are real historical people. Velvet is a great espionage tale. If you liked Brubaker and Eptings Cap I highly recommend it. Epting is definitely at his best on this one.

@micah: For me the costume announcement is pretty cool (not my favorite of SDCC but pretty high up). I would rather see the costume than have plot details because the plot is something I want to see completely unfold while I'm at the theater. However I do have a tendency to look at costume announcements because they are less plot spoilery. For the WW costume I had a feeling in the back of my mind it was gonna be lack luster and when it was revealed I was quite surprised how much I liked it. So it was a fairly surprising announcement.

I enjoyed the costume announcement, although I didn't think I would like Gal Gadot in the suit, I gotta admit I like how it looks on her. I even liked the teaser trailer, I got chills up my spine from the atmosphere I just don't think they won Comic-Con with those two things. If they announced who Rock was playing and a little non-descriptive plot details I would have been fine, I just felt a little let down. But all in all everyone did well at this years Con, now we all know that next years Con will be insane.

What else you got, no Rock confirming what character he's going to play?? No plot details???, Oh well I can't help it if people get excited over the smallest things. DC did well, but they didn't win.

Going by most of these comments it seems like most voted the DC news, more specifically Gal GADOT AS WW just to make people mad, nto really because it was their favorite news from con, I find it hard to believe the pic of the most miscast wonderwoman was someones favorite news OVER Avengers: AOU.

Was it just beause more DC/WB news leaked???

And there's alot of #dealwithit comments, meaning the ones who voted mostly were trolls trying to make others mad lol

@k4tzm4n:

As I mentioned, all the cool new Generations Combiners.

In fact Hasbro in general had the best stuff with all the cool new Marvel legends and Marvel Universe toys.

I still don't get why Ant-man wasn't in the poll.

Not surprised considering it's the only real news concerning DOJ so far. We've seen little to nothing of the film until now.

Apparently no TF love on Comicvine :C

Actually, I was going to attend the panel about the upcoming Transformers animated series, but it was taking place the same time as the Halo: Nightfall one and we thought more people would be interested in the Halo one. But hey, you're free to share your favorite TF news in the comments :)

Well, DUH! Wonder Woman making her big-screen debut? (The LEGO Movie notwithstanding) That's every different kind of awesome!

So, I think I've finally figured out why BvS is going to have so many guest stars. Because the last time DC tried to make a movie for someone other than Batman or Superman, it flopped because nobody knew who the guy was. (Seriously, look up the reviews sometime. Apparently those pinheads only know him from JLU because they seem to think John Stewart was the only Lantern ever) So they figure if they use the big guns to introduce everyone to the audience, they'll have better luck.

The BvS stuff was awesome, I loved the WW costume, BvS teaser trailer was just epic.

The deadpool teaser trailer was awesome, I didn't want a deadpool movie until I saw that.
