I'm curious if anyone here picked up this issue yesterday. I've been reading around the various comic book related sites and it seems to feel that long-time Punisher fans dislike it (I'm in this camp), but those who haven't been following the Punisher actually liked it .

I wonder if it's one of those things that if Marvel would have just killed off Punisher and ended the series and started a new Monster Killer type series, then everyone would have been happy.

I am very saddened to hear a fan say they drop Punisher, but I can understand how you feel.  I will probably read this, just because I am a goober and would more than likely buy and flip through 15 blank pages with a Punisher cover.  I'm just that big of a fan.  I do understand how you feel though.  When I finished The List: Punisher, I felt cheated and sad.  Refer to high up post if you want to know my major gripe, beyond the Frankenstien thing.  And for those who complain about The Punisher doing the same thing over and over.  Marvels most popular characters really have never changed, as sad as their story lines got.  Wolverine to name one.  They just keep recycling old story lines and creating new villians with identical powers who fight him and should in no way lose to him, but some how find a way to let him win.

@King Quisling:
Your real last name wouldn't happen to be Remender, would it? Because he's about the only other person who seems to think this was a good idea. This MIGHT be an okay(at best) story in ANY other Marvel book. If this is the story that Remender wants to tell I can't figure out why he chose a street-level vigilante who has been popular for over two decades (or why Marvel allowed it, for that matter).

I've been reading the Punisher books in their various forms, through good and bad (and there's been some really bad) since 1986, but this was the final straw and I've dropped this title from my pull list.

@waruikumo: Exactly! :) He's been doing the same stuff for 40 years. It's a great new twist to a fantastically brutal character.

I just threw up a little bit, what  the hell is Marvel thinking on this one? At least we have Jason Aaron writing Punisher Max!

I am looking forward to it. I've always liked the punisher, while @ the same time dreading finishing Punisher books (well Garth Ennis excluded) because they were so am predictable. even the last Hood arc, that Remender did was sorta old hat Frank, Finds evil mobsters, kills some, get seriously hurt, barely gets away, chips get stacked, frank finds guns, heals from serious injuries during the course of 1 issue (or they are altogether forgotten about), slays all mobsters, rise, repeat.  So yeah Frankencastle sounds good, a undead Frank, just makes more sense, although its very Deathlok'y. excitement !

I'm afraid that the Frankencastle arc will be too big a stilistic departure from the last (excellent) comics... perhaps way too campy for my tastes... but I'll still pick the first issue up.

Sigh.....I mean are they serious with this?  Its not bad enough that Punisher was killed by a character that was totally subdued by Ronin with a single arrow to the face, but now he is going to be perverted into a story thats a month late?  Pretty much the entire push for Punisher to take down The Hood was going to lead to a confrontation with Norman Osbourne and Hammer, but really?  I mean, its pretty obvious by most of what i've seen that Daken is a sadder version of Wolverine (I know its his son), but really?  My thoughts constantly take me back to an arrow lodged into Daken and then reading The List : The Punisher, if you haven't had a look at it yet please do, I know Franks' efforts aren't quite as effective as a single arrow, but please writers, do a true fan the honor of either keeping The Punisher where he belongs, the underdog that is used to deal with popularity lacking villians and randomly popping in to make a storyline work or end him in all facets, but his MAX series.  I am just saddened to see this story line really come to life.  Garth Ennis, where are you when we need you, bring me that Frank that I love.
From a lover of The Punisher for over a decade and a half, this is the first time I was dissapointed and slightly disgusted.  Thank you marvel.

Give me a break. If Marvel actually read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, they would know that Victor Frankenstein was the name of the creator of the monster, and the monster was referred to as the creature, the monster, the daemon, Frankenstein's creation, etc.

@jamesewelch: Hehe well since I seem to be the only person who hasn't dropped Punisher I think I'll start doing reviews of it starting with #11. :P I've been looking for the perfect series to review that isn't being reviewed by the staff or other viners.

Yes. I think you're the only one. :)

This preview was also in the back of the Dark Reign: The List - Punisher.

I just removed this Punisher series from my pull list at my LCS yesterday. I think the new Frankencastle has just jumped the shark too far for me. I did pick up Punishermax #1, but I was a bit underwhelmed by it - it feels like just another rehash of Kingpin vs Punisher. Maybe I'll have to go without a Punisher fix for a year or so until the Frankencastle arc ends or the series is canceled and a new one starts over.

Well now, a compliment like that could go to a man's head. Thanks, and you're welcome.

I've been thinking of making another one for the hell of it. Giving it the head of V from V for Vendetta, and adding a caption, "He'll Make You Remember!!". lol

@Babs: Lol okay I guess that works. >.<  I'm definitely getting in on this arc. I don't understand why people were okay with him disguising himself as a black man for a whole year but they can't handle the idea of him being a undead killing machine. Oh and I LOVE the Midnight Sons! I wish I had monster friends.....

Was this preview not at the back of the issue where we see the decapitation?

I am a bit interested in picking this book up! I want to see who really ends up with the body parts and puts him all back together. I'm also wondering what his mind will be like... will he be robotic or retain some memories?
