Pepper Potts Gets Her Own, New Armor

You know what this basically means? I had been thinking about this recently. What purpose does Mary Jane serve to the Marvel series other then Peter's wife/girlfriend? Even Lois Lane has a plot related job as an investigative reporter.
 
Now, Pepper Potts is starting her own adventures. I don't know about her armor though.  It's far too similar to Iron Man. It's basically the Iron Man suit with a literal breast plate. At least it doesn't have heels. She looks more like a cheap side kick. Even the code name screams "support role".

Especially since she's really just IronWoman.

As stated, her suit is completely non-lethal. She's all about going and getting regular people out of those life and death situations. 

To sort of take a line from her debut in the armor... People need help, they need... Rescue.

She did a pretty good job of it too in the initial story.

Interesting, although, I was kind of enjoying the way the Rescue suit was more or less a character unto itself being that it was fully mobile and capable of interacting and doing things without a pilot. It was kind of like J.A.R.V.I.S. finally had a body... at least until Rhody ripped it apart for parts.

The armor's name is rescue because tony designed it to be completely non offensive, with only defensive properties, so during dark reign while tony erased his mind pepper could wear the armor and norman couldnt do anything about it legally because it was not a weapon.

Like, but wasn't much of a fan of her first dialog between her and J.A.R.V.I.S.. Hopefully that will change.

I agree 100%. Marvel is making the mistake that DC makes by having to many  "legacy heroes". "

I thought she was going to be called Iron Girl.

Wasn't a big fan of the name, but it's growing on me. I do like this armor more than the old one too.

 First IronMAN, then IronLAD....now IronWOMAN. Why don't they start an IRON-Family?

I loved Pepper behind the Iron Mask.... but I do agree the name doesn't fit...

Iron Woman woulda probably been too much. But with that said, Rescue is STILL maddd corny. Also, when's Rhodey gonna get his new War Machined out armor??? 

I havn't been reading Iron Man buy my girlfriend loves Pepper Potts in the movie. Do they have that relationship in the comic still? What do you recommend for her? I noticed Pepper was in The Order.

She has no weapons on her and the armor is built strictly for rescue missions. Hence the name.

I can't wait for a better artist to get on this.Pepper has looked pretty ridiculous in these armors.

The Iron man Corps: The original Iron man and Iron woman, War Machine. Baby Iron man, Iron dog and Iron kitty. Zombie Iron man marks his return and even Iron boy comes back from the pre 'heroes return' story arc. Put in a Iron maitresse and some Iron hoodlums and you've got yourself a complete Iron Corps. Can't wait for the attack of the giant magnets or the anti-rust issue with holographic cover and a coupon for anti-rust spray. 
 
Maybe they oughtta put and Iron lad, Terminator and Robocop in it to. Then it'll even appeal to a greater audience.

Pinchuk, you could have waited at least a week after the opening of Iron Man 2 before dropping a big spoiler on the FIRST LINE OF A NEWS ARTICLE.

Maybe this will help Tony and Pepper become a couple again.

wow I see a lot of people complaining about this, well I will toss a few facts out there.
 
First this went down before the movie was released, check Iron Man most wanted. So don't think that this is happening because the movie made mad money it was a plot that started ruffly a month or more before the movies was even released.
 
Second Tony didn't do this to make her his sidekick, he didn't even know if he could still pilot his armor when he gave Pepper the Rescue armor. If anything she was his back up in case he didn't make it, not to mention he made it a rescue armor so Osborn couldn't take it. He wanted Pepper to be a hero not a sidekick, that's why she is known lethal and why her name fits her. She has the only armor not meant to heart folks and thus why would she need a name to intimidate people. To be honest if I was stuck in a mind shaft and somebody said Iron Woman was coming I wouldn't feel half as safe if I had heard someone called Rescue was coming to save me.
 
Lastly, this is a pretty good original idea for the Iron Man books. The fact that they have Tony giving people armors who deserve them and not just folks who "qualify" for them makes more sense. Not to mention they have been playing this angle for Pepper since Five Nightmares when she was injured so please don't act like you didn't see this coming. The only other people I like in armors were WarMachin and Doc Doom so to see Pepper is a welcomed change because she is still a minor character, she just has a bigger rold now.
