Just about to post that myself. I laughed pretty loudly that a guy who's been in so many comedic roles such as Anchorman, Friends and The 40 Year Old Virgin is going to play Ant Man. It does fit with Marvel's more comedic approach to films and all that. Maybe he'll play Scott Lang.

I can just imagine the scene in an avengers movie where the group comes together and theres a big ass giant man, a hulk, an iron man, a captain in a bad ass pose,a god winding his hammer, and hopefully a wasp charging her stingers.

I would've liked to see Paul play THE FLASH, but eh, whatever. I wonder if they'll throw in the abusive husband factor, I hope not, that would be awkward :/

Foster was really good in Hostages, but I can't imagine him playing a scientist. But yeah, he does deserve a shot at something big, but I don't know if Ant-Man is it (though Ant-man is a little on the small side ;D) lol

I could see the writers making him have issues before he becomes a hero so it is part of his background that we learn about, but do not see in the movie. He tries to prove not only to the other heroes, but himself that he has changed and is worthy to be a hero. I really have no idea, but it is possible. Either way I am going to see and own the movie. I own every Marvel movie even if it is horrible (ex. Daredevil, Elektra,...). I am excited to see what version of Ant-Man they are making and if wasp will be introduced.

@fil123: The Ultimates was always meant to be a much darker version of the 616-Avengers. The Ultimate-Versions are very poor representation of the actual characters because they're meant to be very different from each other. Just because Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were incestuous in the Ultimate Universe, it doesn't mean they are in the regular universe. Just because Ultimate Hank was a scum bag doesn't mean regular Hank is anything like that.

I think this "wife-beater" thing gets exaggerated by a lot of people. He's a likeable character, and he only hit Jan once, during his third or fourth mental breakdown. He's bipolar, and had his mind affected badly by Ultron removing some of his memory, and a lab accident where he was exposed to his experimental gases. He's had trauma in his life dealing with the murder of his first wife, an inferiority complex, believing he wasn't a good enough hero among the other Avengers, and a lot of strain on his body from being Giant-Man. He was on the verge of being court-martial and kicked out of The Avengers for attacking an enemy who he hadn't realised had stopped fighting, one panel before he attacked. He already had all of these problems, and was scared and angry. He made a mistake, and people just won't let it go.

I thought Paul Rudd was an awkward choice at first then I thought about Ant-Man's personality; I like the decision. But the question is who is going to play the Wasp.

I actually love this choice.

In X-Men The First Class they changed the original team, in Thor they changed him from magic to an alien, in Capt America they changed the Red Skull from a Nazi to a Hydra, and they are even changing the story that Pym did not create Ultron. We don't know what else they will change about his character to make him likable by fans to watch. The writers might even change him from being a wife beater to having anger issues toward everyone and be antisocial or just have relationship commitment issues. Everyone is assuming he will be a wife beater in the movie. Nobody wants to pay to see a movie of a superhero beating the crap out of his wife. The only way I can see it happening is if one of his inventions drives him to do it.

I don't know how to feel about this. He seems like he could maybe be an O.K. Scott Lang, but I don't know if he'd make a good Hank Pym. Also, not knowing what the plot of the film is, and the Hank in the past, Scott in the present thing not properly confirmed(as far as I know), I don't know how big his role would be as either of them.

I'd much rather see a Hank Pym film, but I don't know if I'd want Paul Rudd playing him.

Also, he seems to be more of a comedy actor, which makes me worry that they might make either Ant-Man into some kind of joke character.

Yeah, I could see that. Y'know, if the movie ever gets here. Along with Justice League and Deadpool.

This movie is being made by Disney so they won't. Iron Man is supposed to be a raging alcoholic but they didn't do that with the RDJ films

Hank is also crazy. He has bi-polar disorder. Kind of explains why Ultron is crazy as well, given that Ultron shares Hank's brainwave patterns.

Sure, why not? :) Definitely willing to give him a chance. He's never bowled me completely over, but has been consistently good in everything I've seen him in. I believe in you, Rudd! 8D

Paul Rudd is awesome and Hank Pym is awesome. I see no possibility of negativity.

I was really hoping for either Rudd or Pegg (very different actors, but I could easily envision either of them). I would have been very unhappy with JGL.

As a side note, before we knew who Vin Diesel was playing, I was kind of hoping he would have been Hank Pym. I really like, Rudd, and I don't really care for Vin Diesel, so I'm happier with this of course, but I thought it would have been an interesting and unexpected decision, to make the big muscly guy into the nerdiest goofiest character. Similarly, we know about Man of Steel 2 (or whatever it's called) having Jason Momoa, and people are expecting him to play someone big and brooding like Martian Manhunter, but I think it'd be a cooler and unexpected casting to make him someone like Lex Luther.

Sounds good. He was great in Anchorman and Parks and Rec, and I'm sure he can do serious stuff too.

I could really see him as Ant-Man just because Ant-Man hasn't always been the funny go lucky guy we think he is to be. There were points in time where he was depressed and angry which Paul is really good at doing as seen by him in Role Models but he can also serious shown in the same movie. Also he has a comedic factor to him shown in movies such as Anchorman. So I love this choice.

EDIT: I Mean this goes for any Ant-Man look at Scott Lang in FF or Henry Pym even though it might be unlikely
